July 31, 201214 yr What is futsal? Soccer-style game invented in Brazil. It's played with a smaller ball on a small, usually indoor court, which means a lot more skill in handling the ball is necessary to get around defenders than on a full-size soccer field. There are some other key differences as well (the lack of an offside rule can be particularly fun). I've come to love watching it in the last couple years. There are some pretty incredible highlight videos on YouTube if you get the chance.
July 31, 201214 yr I like this one a lot. Definitely should be in there.Should have been there this year so Chrissie Wellington could've added a gold medal to her amazing career in her home country. She is the only potential Olympian I would've found myself rooting for even over Americans.
July 31, 201214 yr Haven't seen this mentioned but what about adding lacrosse? Not sure of it's international following outside of Canada which could be a hinderance.

July 31, 201214 yr Anyone ever heard of Hantis? A few of my college friends actually invented it. Skip to the 1:00 minute mark.
July 31, 201214 yr Sports to Add Tchoukball I just heard about that last one yesterday on a podcast. It's very similar to handball except that instead of a goal, there's a small trampoline. The attacking team has to bounce the ball off the trampoline and scores a point if the defensive team fails to catch it before it hits the ground. Below is a highlight reel of the 2010 European Championships. Looks awesome!
July 31, 201214 yr Haven't seen this mentioned but what about adding lacrosse? Not sure of it's international following outside of Canada which could be a hinderance. I know it's out there. They play a world championship every few years and there are teams from Europe and Asia there all the time. The one interesting thing I know about lacrosse is that in international competition, the Six Nations of the Iroquois field their own separate team.
July 31, 201214 yr Author Haven't seen this mentioned but what about adding lacrosse? Not sure of it's international following outside of Canada which could be a hindrance. I'd want to see lacrosse in there FOR SURE. I'd agree with you, though, that it might not be a wide-spread enough sport to be justified in the Olympics.

IF it ever actually becomes an Olympic sport woudl they still be able to do that?
July 31, 201214 yr I'd take out anything with the word sycronized in it. I'd add Beer Pong and Flip Cup.
July 31, 201214 yr Author I think they've done a good job in gymnastics with modifying the scoring system with the "highest possible points" and then it's simply deductions from there. Took out a lot of the problems that existed with the "Out of 10" system. I think it's a better system, for sure. But honestly, I really want to see scoring systems that are based entirely upon simple quantifiables, where judgment calls are at their utmost minimal. For example: If you ask me, if I were in charge and baseball were in the Olympics again (which it absolutely would be), I'd chip the balls and track those babies digitally. Now MLB...that is a game with umpires, and it should stay a game with umpires, but for the sake of the Olympics, if you're measuring each nation's best versus best, I want a computer calling balls, strikes, fairs, and fouls.

July 31, 201214 yr I wouldn't take out anything. And you guys who want to take out events like gymnastics and diving, etc....those are among the top Olympic events, IMO. The technical skills that have to be mastered surpass what most of us could ever notice. Definitely worthy of inclusion. Equestrian events as well, especially Dressage.
July 31, 201214 yr MMA Grand Prix would be awesome. Softball and baseball would be back. Rugby. More high powered, long rang shooting. Change the "top 2" gymnastics rule. [bold]Create 2 International Training facilities in the world for poorer countries/athletes to be able to field more athletes in all sports.[/bold] I wouldn't drop anything, and maybe look to make Olympics 3 week event. Love the bolded!
