July 31, 201214 yr To add to my post, the time frame now falls into their fall pricing...which saves a bundle! Toggle back and forth between the standard cottage and the executive cottage. General Butler Rates I forgot to mention that you would be within a 30 minute drive of historic Madison, IN. Main street has many, many nice shops, there is an antebellum mansion on the river and it's on the way to that favorite tearoom/winery that I told you about!
July 31, 201214 yr I have to agree that Mamouth Cave is good. Nashville is pretty expensive. How about Natural Bridge? We tooK the kids down there a few years back. We stayed at a Comfort in with an indoor pool. Very reasonable, and Natural Bridge is a beautiful place to hike. There is also a lodge there, which I heard was nice but do not know the price.
July 31, 201214 yr There's always French Lick too. Big Splash Adventure is about half the price of Great Wolfe Lodge. Big Splash Adventure Indoor Water Park & Resort probably $400 for a weekend for 4.

July 31, 201214 yr Spend the weekend in Louisville. Louisville slugger museum, Mega cavern zip line tours and the Zoo.
July 31, 201214 yr Breaks Interstate Park (State Park owned and managed by Kentucky AND Virginia.) Clifty Falls State Park (Great "casual hiking" park just outside of Madison, IN - just across the Ohio River from Carrolton, KY) Mammoth Cave is fantastic... Heuston Woods (Go stay in a yurt). It's close enough to Cincy that the Reds game is an option. The Glier's Goetta Fest is also this weekend on the Newport Riverfront. Just figured I'd mention that...
July 31, 201214 yr It'll be wife and kids 20 and 11. Hundred or so a night.... Thinking of a Reds weekend maybe, isn't Friday fire works night? Top two teams in NL Reds and Pirates... Kids age 11 and 20.....if they like coasters, Kings Island is a good time. Nice expanded waterpark too. But will agree that Holiday World waterpark trumps KI waterpark. But KI wins in the coasters division.

Went for a festival and really enjoyed it.

General Butler Rates General Butler is very nice...stayed there a few times. For my money...I'd take Clifty Falls across the river in Indiana. General Butler is nice, for sure - I've been many many times. I'd take the hiking trails from Clifty Falls over what they offer at General Butler though, easily. Plus it's about the same distance from Madison, IN - just on the Indiana side of things.
July 31, 201214 yr Nashville seems like a good get-away-weekend. Nash-Vegas is awesome, but not the same with your 11 year old.......
July 31, 201214 yr Spend the weekend in Louisville. Louisville slugger museum, Mega cavern zip line tours and the Zoo. Make reservations for lunch at the restuarant at the top of the bat at the Louisville Slugger Museum.........:sssh:
