July 24, 201214 yr Is Ichiro the same player he was 10 years ago, obviously not. Can he still help the Yankees, absolutely.

July 24, 201214 yr He has little left in the tank ... this is getting much more play than it deserves. At this point, he's a name.
July 24, 201214 yr He will be closer to his career obp with the Yanks than the last 2 years...Have you seen the guys that he has had around him...He just went from the last olace offense in the AL probably to one of the best...How does Brendan Ryan (.188avg), Chone Figgins (.188avg), Miguel Olivo (.198avg), Justin Smoak (.191avg), Kyle Seager (.240avg) and Dustin Ackley (.226avg) sound...The Ms are terrible Ichiro will have a lot of pressure off his shoulders in the Bronx... Had to bold the bottom, because there's zero chance I'll ever see it in writing again.:lol: I know what you're trying to say, but he just went to the Yankees, the epi-center of all things pressure in the sports world. He's in for a whole new world when it comes to pressure.

July 24, 201214 yr I think it was a win for NY. Since losing Gardner for the year the OF has been a mess. Ibanez and Jones have been decent, but bringing in Ichiro adds depth for the rest of the season. Not to mention Swisher is banged up as well. Sure he is not batting great by his standards, but he does bring a solid bat and much needed base running.
July 24, 201214 yr Ichiro's numbers have nothing to do with the lineup around him ... it's because he's 38 and in decline.
