July 11, 201214 yr In theory I can agree to that. But for the Public Relations Director - it's a terrible time to appear "pushing" that change in major election years. If it were so important it should have been handled in 2009 or 2011 which is "right after" an election cycle. That's all I'm trying to say.
July 11, 201214 yr Before it was brought to light on here a few months, I was shocked at how little effort or screening it requires to cast a vote. I understand the expense of having to purchase an id, but to me having someone just walk up and say they are "Joe Smith" to me is more troubling. Our so-called most important right as a citizen hinges upon the honor system. Wish it was like that when trying to buy booze a few years back I definitely don't disagree. Especially knowing that I have shown my ID everytime I have voted and it verified my name and address and I had to sign off on the sheet next to my printed name and address before I could vote. I thought everybody had to do that. Who knew?

July 11, 201214 yr I've had to do the same. What happens if we have no ID when they ask for it? I wouldn't be allowed to vote and IMO that would be my own fault. Especially since I know what is expected in order for me to vote.

July 11, 201214 yr Voter Information Voter Information Guide Vote411.org: Search by State: Kentucky Didn't you say you work at a poll? Do you ask for an ID? And if they do not have one what is the typical procedure? Just confirm the address?
July 11, 201214 yr Very interesting. I don't understand why that wouldn't be a law. Seems like it should be. I just assumed it was based on my voting experiences.
July 11, 201214 yr Very interesting. I don't understand why that wouldn't be a law. Seems like it should be. I just assumed it was based on my voting experiences. Because back in 1576 when KY created the voting law they didn't have ID's, there fore you can't make it required. Just one of many laws that need to be updated, but government would rather pass laws about what color the street signs should be.
July 11, 201214 yr When I had to renew my Drivers License due to moving from Boone to Kenton, the county clerk office not only redid my driver license but also my voter registration at the same time. Cost me to change my Driver License but nothing to change my voting record. I just don't see it as a hardship to get an ID that most have to have anyway to do just about anything now day's. If indeed there is a hardship and it can be proven, then give it to the person free but those I work with daily all have pictures ID via State issued ID's, so if my guy's can get them, then most can too!

It is kind of hard to believe there are that many people without any form of identification.

July 11, 201214 yr It is kind of hard to believe there are that many people without any form of identification. It depends on what the state says they are accepting. Many elderly do not drive and they are not taking wedding licensces and how many elderly people have their birth certificate lying around . . . I would be hard pressed to find mine. Many states are accepting NRA/Hunting licenses but not student ids. Why not? Many students do not drive so their ID is their student ID. Accept them and go on, unless your purpose is to suppress the vote. I thought our soldiers fought so that people could vote, not so that some come be denied.
