Reds win 3 in a row and go 6-5 on the dreaded west coast swing. The worst manager does it again.

They did that despite him.Should have been minimum 8-3.If you are a legitimate contender need to be better that .500. During a ten game stretch their pitchers turned in 10 quality starts hewent 4-6 mostly with his tinkering of the lineup and mismanagement of the pitching staff.

I would have taken 6-5 pre trip so I'm happy. However the managers job is to put the team in the best position to win games. He may not make a good decision or bad decision that actually affects the outcome of a game for weeks at a time. It doesnt mean his decisions were all good when they win and it certainly doesn't mean they were all bad when they lose. Any time Rolen is in the lineup it was a bad decision. He's just not as good as Frazier right now.

I can agree that 6-5 is normally a good west coast trip but how can any real Reds fan be satisfied with that given the way the pitchers performed. This team is underachieving offensively and they do not have a manager that can help them overcome their shortcomings. I do believe that with a few better moves that they could have easily been 8-3 or better on this trip. I've said it before and I'll say it again that a manager affects the outcome of 1 run games by the decisions he makes throughout the course of the game. There are a lot of ways he can do that whether it be a sacrifice, hit and run, squeeze play, stolen base, pinch hitter, pitching change and many other ways I'm sure you are aware of. This team needs someone that is not afraid to make a gutsy call at the right time, not one that sits back and waits for someone to hit a HR. Stats are nice to look at but they are just that stats based on previous performance. A good manager has to be able to make a gut call and Dusty goes by the stats period.

Hes about to lose another one he lets lefty Marshall face the guy who hit the homerun off him then walks the next batter who is righthanded instead of bringing in Ondrusek. Hey here is a novel idea why not with bases loaded bring in Chapman for a four out night and maybe strikje out the batter. I can't take it anymore I'm like the guy in the movie Network.

:madman:The worst manager in baseball does it again. Latos throwing a shutout for seven innings after throwing complete games last two games and allowing two runs in 25 innings. Brings in Boom Boom Marshall to give up home run to tie it. Then tied 1-1 in ninth doesn't use Chapman but uses Ondrusek who loads the bases and THEN brings in Sudden Sam LeCure who gives up a boomer on first pitch to lose it. Not to mention playing Valdez in Center instead of playing Heisey in center and leaving hot hitting Ludwick in left Pathetic As It Has Been All Year. At least he didnt wheel Rolen out in a wheel chair. Good Grief we'd even take Jack McKeon. Maybe Birdie Tebbetts.

 

Didn't he let Latos bat with 2 runners on, up 1-0 and 2 outs in the top of the 7th? I'm OK with EITHER pulling him OR letting him bat. I just don't understand doing both. If you are not going to PH for him, you've committed to let him pitch until he gets in trouble or pitch count is too high. If you are going to pull him after the 7th, PH for him in the top of the 7th and try to get a timely hit. Heck, let Leake hit for him!!!

And clearly some are never satifsfied. For the record, I never said I was satisfied it's just that some are unrealistic. I absolutely disagree with some decisions he makes but in 162 games a year, that will happen.
