June 19, 201214 yr I hear kids have been getting jumped a lot this summer in the evennings, and last night an adult was attacked and beat in the head with baseball bats on Retreat street. What in the world is going on down there?? People are crazy these days!!!!!
June 19, 201214 yr Author I believe retreat is a cross street from Taylor Ave that rune from the young Ave to south side of the city. Retreat is closer towards the Ameristop and train tracks.
June 19, 201214 yr Live in Bellevue, and have heard nothing about this. I've never felt unsafe in Bellevue.
June 19, 201214 yr Live in Bellevue, and have heard nothing about this. I've never felt unsafe in Bellevue. My wife and I come down to Fairfield and have always enjoyed it. Cool little area.
June 19, 201214 yr Live in Bellevue, and have heard nothing about this. I've never felt unsafe in Bellevue. Same as any town. Good places, bad places. When I was in high school there were quite a few jumpings there. However, there were jumpings in Newport and Fort Thomas at that time as well. Seemed to go back and forth. After I got out, that seemed to fade away.
June 19, 201214 yr Author My old boss lives there and was filling me in about. His kids are in jr high and one in hs and they are not allowed to walk anywhere till it is under control. It has been going on all summer and last night bellevue dayton and newport police all responded to Retreat Street.
June 19, 201214 yr Where is Retreat St in relation to the main biz district on Fairfield? I would think the section of Retreat St. they are talking about may be at the intersection of Retreat and Lafayette, which is 2 blocks south of the high school and 2 blocks north of the Ameristop. My Dad has a warehouse in Hazen Alley, which is off Retreat St., and everytime I left there the past 2 or 3 weeks to head to my house, which is 90 seconds away, there has been a group of 7 or 8 "late teens" hanging out at one of the corner houses. As I pass all I can think of is, "these guys are up to no good".

June 19, 201214 yr I lived in Bellevue for a couple of years on O'Fallon Ave - moved out about a year ago. My house was next to an alley, and there were nightly drug deals that went down there - I would personally witness probably 3 a week on average just in coming and going from my house. My next door neighbor used to smoke pot all day long (and I literally mean ALL DAY LONG) on his front porch. I also had a neighbor on the other side of me who everyone in my neighborhood knew full well was a "professional woman". I called the police a couple of times on the pothead neighbor - both times he was out blasting Santana at 1:30am on a weekday night with his friends, and I had to work bright and early in the morning. The police only rolled by and pointed the spot on the patrol car (well, it was a patrol pickup truck actually) at the guys on the porch. The neighbors did turn off the radio and go in the house, but I was still all in all un-impressed by the fact that the officer didn't at least stop and go talk to them... I called the police a good 5 or 6 times about the drug dealing in the alley. Never saw anything happen there with the cops. I did see plenty more drug deals though. Another note...I had my truck broken into twice, and my catalytic converter stolen once - all in the course of living down there for right around 2 years. I'll tell you what, though...if you do go down to Bellevue for the First Friday "Shop Bellevue!" days...the Bellevue police force SURE does a good job of chalking everybody's tires and making sure you don't park anywhere for more than two hours.
June 19, 201214 yr Author I lived in Bellevue for 2 years as well and saw many of the same things. I too called the police several time and had the same result as you. Its sad. Bellevue could be a pretty quiet little city but a few handful of people are messing that up pretty bad. There seems to be a lot of rental properties that are rented to anyone no matter what they are doing. I feel bad for the good people who live there and try to raise a family that they have to deal with the nonsense with very very little help from the city police.
June 19, 201214 yr There seems to be a lot of rental properties that are rented to anyone no matter what they are doing. This is becoming the scurge of many once pleasant neighborhoods. Government efforts to decentralize public housing have served only to spread their inherent problems into areas that were once very nice.

That explains alot, you were living in the wrong part of town. By the way, was she good looking? I have lived in Bellevue all my life, in the Bonnie Leslie area, we might get the occasional car break-in but that's it. I was told by a member of city council, a while back, that close to 45% of the population of Bellevue are renters and a good number off those are Section 8/HUD, this might explain things. People relying on someone else to provide a roof over their heads and food on the table, as well as, keeping their kids in check. Is any part of the above reason for the recent incident :idunno:.....but I'd be will to bet that those involved come from such a background.
June 19, 201214 yr A friend of mine used to have his boat docked at what I think is called Riverside Marina. I always remember seeing a lot of rough looking older teens/young adults hanging around on the street corners down there.
