June 19, 201214 yr What exactly is the sign for belt high fastball anyway? I agree with Clyde but she claimed they tipped off pitch type and location. Both of the two run bombs, and they were Bombs, came with a runner on 2nd. She didn't exactly give an excuse why the guys could double to reach 2nd so easily or the leadoff batter of the game hit one 500 feet.

If the battery is so poor as to not be able to disguise what you've called, then they deserve to get raked. I can tell you from experience, the only thing you can usually tip is pitch location. But it doesn't matter if you know the location or not when you groove one belt high. I don't remember where Hanigan set up, but I'm fairly certain he wasn't asking for a pitch waist high in the heart of the dish. Nothing more than excuses. What's next? It's the tattoo artist fault? Too much ink on his pitching arm? Dallas Latos. Authority on the intricacies of sign pilfering.
June 19, 201214 yr She was told by Mat or someone with the Reds about it and she made that clear. Then Mat is an idiot.
June 19, 201214 yr I'm feeling a 9-8 ballgame. I'll take the over... This game is going to be wild, first to 10 wins? 5-4 Reds after 3, Hanigan leads off 4th with the Reds 9th hit. Pretty good prognosticating.
June 19, 201214 yr Author Yes they did. When New York was really beaten up. Do you want to roll out those starters against that lineup and Sabathia, Pettitte and Hughes/Kuroda/Nova. The Yankees first two hitters get on base. They beat Sabathia and Nova already, did they not?
June 19, 201214 yr They beat Sabathia and Nova already, did they not?The Yankees were beat up is the only reason they lost apparently.
June 19, 201214 yr Author The Yankees were beat up is the only reason they lost apparently. Forgot about that. No way the lowly Reds could have simply been the better team. How silly of us.
June 19, 201214 yr Being out of town with limited internet access I didn't get to comment on the Reds much in the last week. The 6 game winning streak was VERY nice, the Reds are playing great baseball, especially Votto, wow, that dude is awesome. As for last night's game, I'm a Latos supporter but that was pretty bad. Just a bad outing or something to be concerened about? Could it be the same as Lowe and had something to do with playing the same team in back to back starts?
June 19, 201214 yr Latos quotes: “I was a little up in the zone,” Latos said. “I thought I made some good pitches that they spit on, with a runner on second base.” Meaning, Latos thought Indians runners were peering in at Reds catcher Ryan Hanigan to pick up his signs. “That was kind of ironic, but we changed up the signs for the last hitter, unfortunately, and the outcome changed when we changed up the signs today,” Latos said. “Other than that I was just up in the zone.” Just to be clear, Latos was asked again: Were the Indians looking in on Hanigan? “That’s kind of the idea,” Latos replied. “When you go back and look at video, a couple runners on second base, they put better swings on the ball than they did most of the time without a runner on second base. “Choo hit that double (fourth inning), and then (Asdrubal) Cabrera was up. Me and Hanigan changed the signs up and called for a slider. We were going with a certain call, and that certain call that we were going with beforehand was a curveball. And I threw a slider, and he was looking breaking ball and was jammed on a slider. That, to me, shows me a little something. “But other than that, again, I was up in the zone. I made a couple of bad mistakes and they hit ‘em. That’s the way baseball goes, and it is what it is.” Reds' win streak ends in Cleveland | Cincinnati.com | cincinnati.com
June 19, 201214 yr According to the latest Power Rankings from SI that were just published the Reds Check in at #9 while the Cards check in at #3... Yankees No. 5 in Power Rankings; Rangers remain No. 1 - MLB - SI.com
June 19, 201214 yr ^Not buying it. How is it that no one else gets their signs with Hanigan stolen? How does that explain the rest of his abysmal ERA?
June 19, 201214 yr Latos sounds so lame with his "they were looking in" comments. Very disappointing.

June 19, 201214 yr Author Latos sounds so lame with his "they were looking in" comments. Very disappointing. That's the immaturity still cracking through. The guy has the God given talents, but is a basketcase upstairs. Maybe Homer should take him under his wing?
