If your schedules do not line up with what KHSAA wants, they reserve the right to come in an CANCEL any boys ball games that need to be cancelled to align the schedules as need be.

 

Another problem in the scheduling, there are only so many primetime nights in a season. Take away Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve this year and you have 26 nights including the final Saturday night of the year, 2 days before districts start, not the best time for a game.

 

And if a girls team needs to schedule 4 or 5 HOME (to be considered primetime they have to be HOME) than they are probably going to have 4-5 away games on a primetime night to help their opponents meet their primetime requirements. So they are possibly playing 8-10 PT games. Double that for the boys and you have 16-20 of the 25 nights for primetime games.

 

Add 1-2 tournaments you want to play and there is almost NO WAY to avoid conflicts of both teams playing on a single night at some point.

Since 9th region coaches/ADs decided to leave Friday "prime time" to the Girls games in January as a way to comply with Title IX and I guess you could add "do the right thing" and no other Boys team in the 9th region is playing tonight...........should CovCath also abide by that decision.........or should they be able to schedule as they normally do since they are not a co-ed school?

Friday and Saturday are primetime.

 

And if the girls play the 6:00 game and the boys play a 7:30 game, it is not primetime for the girls.

The trend you will see in the future in my mind is all girls primetime's getting saturday and the guys getting Friday. That is what I've been hearing some people are leaning to. Since both are considered prime time dates.

They consider both Friday and Saturday Primetime because they are weekend days and most people do not have to work the next day.

 

School Athletic departments would be best just to give the guys Friday and Girls Saturday. Girls would still get a primetime date and the guys wouldn't lose the money at the gate.

Additionally, where is the outcry to have Volleyball played on Friday prime times?

 

The only time volleyball basically is played on Friday night is at the state tournament which is also the last week of the regular season and Senior night for 50% of the high school football teams in the state.

Here's where I think it would affect the Dixie girls. Where do you think the boys team will go if the HHS/CCH game is on the same night as Dixie/whomever girls game?

The Dixie boys tried to go to the HHS/CCH game tonight. Some got in, some didn't (sold out). After standing around in the cold waiting to get in, they didn't feel much like driving out to Conner to arrive late and support the girls.

 

Hmm, come to think of it, I've done the same thing. Being dissappointed about not getting in at CCH, I didn't trek out to Conner either. Instead, I'm sitting here thinking... "Wow, this really did hurt the girls tonight."
