Bishop Brossart 5 St. Xavier 3

Is the biggest win in the history of our program!

True on all accounts. Boy would I have loved to have called that one.

Probably disturbed the residence of the hotel rooms on either side when Norton hit that double.

This is truly incredible. What a great ride for these guys. As Ron Verst will tell you - Total team effort. Circus catches, clutch hits, brilliant pitching, and outstanding coaching!!!!!

What's worse, we will probably be playing a league camp game on Friday night.

The 3 biggest games in your history back to back to back Mustang. Have Mel Webster fly you home.

Again not bad for an area that many throughout the Commonwealth say doesn't play quality baseball. Way to go Stangs

Do people say that? Hasn't Harrison County won a few state titles out of the 10th region?

The comment comes from a poster earlier in the season when only CovCath was ranked and that was in the upper teens.

The poster claimed that the NKy teams (BB is a Campbell County team and thus a NKy team) that they don't play anybody but themselves and thus no one from downstate knew who they were nor cared, since the baseball up in Nky isn't really that good to begin with!

Ahhh, I see.

Who will the Mustangs play next?

Looks like Woodford County (31-6) up 7-2 in the 7th Inning - Friday at 6pm.

This is an enormous win. How would you rank this vs winning the Basketball All A in terms of biggest wins across programs?

and maybe just maybe, no I am not going to say it.

I'll say it . . . BBHS vs NCC for the heavyweight title of the Universe! Have 2 NKY teams ever met in any sport for the state championship? Let alone arch rivals?

If this ever happens, Campbell County will be on full lockdown for years, and St. Joseph in Cold Spring may very well implode and cease to exist.

The school, the church, even St. Joe himself - poof! gone.

There is a certain element of truth to that perception, in many sports. It's not that there's nothing good going on there, it's just that no one can tell because there's nothing to compare it to. It's no different than the mystery most of us have when it comes to WKy teams in the Sweet 16 at Rupp.

Great win for Brossart, regardless.

Bishop Brossart pulled off a huge upset by knocking off No. 3 St. Xavier 5-3 in the quarterfinals of the state baseball tournament Wednesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Nate Verst ran his record to 10-0 this season with a complete-game effort for the Mustangs. Verst gave up 5 hits, struck out 4 and walked 3.

Brossart trailed 3-0 but rallied for one run in the fourth, and four in the sixth.

Tanner Norton had a 2-run double in the fourth that tied the game. Bobby Roderick drove in the go-ahead run with a single, and Erik Rieger’s RBI single provided an insurance run.

Brossart is making the most of its first-ever state tournament appearance. It advances to Friday night’s semifinals to meet the winner of South Warren vs. Woodford County.

This was the second year in a row St. X fell in the quarterfinals. It lost to eventual champ Central Hardin last year.

Is this a misprint? This is classic Hoosiers. Has anyone from St X. seen Bishop Brossart high school? You could stick the whole campus in just your Football stands. Not the football complex but stands. Huge upset!

And there will be crying from all around the Commonwealth about how one County, other than Jefferson, can have two teams in the State Finals!

There will be so much crying about it, that if indeed it happens, you just might see a reclassification of the NKy teams going back to all the the county schools being put back into one Region! I honestly am not positive but I believe Campbell and Kenton (other than Jefferson) are the only Counties that don't have all their schools in one Region! Anyone?

BlueKrush it's on you if they don't make it, as tradition tells the player/fan/coaches that no one can talk about a no-hitter or the next game! :walk:
