BUT, there should be a punishment for the boys also. Yeah they knew exactly what they we're doing and it would cost her the job. Great morality for supporting this behavior, be sure you give them all high fives for making her lose her job.

 

Wait....a 26 year old woman knowingly chooses to have sex with an 18 year(red flag #1) who happens to be a student where she teaches(red flag #2) knowing if she got caught she would be fired an most likely lose her career that she went to college for and is probably still paying for?(red flag #3) And you say the boys(of legal age) should be punished because she couldn't find a hot blooded male that isn't a student at the place she works? Uh, no. Not finding fault with the boys at all.

 

And before you holler what if it was a male teacher.....A local cop in my area was the director of the D.A.R.E. program at the the local high school. He began having consensual sex with a girl when she was 15 years old and kept this relationship with her for 2 years. Their relationship was known throughout town and once she hit 17-18 years of age charges were finally brought on the cop. He ended up being charged with a bunch of different things and is currently sitting in jail. The girl carried on with her life. Just like the boys should be able to.

Career is certainly one thing but for me it would be public perception just as much as career. No one wants to be looked down upon or talked bad about for the rest of their life but she's just earned that stigma.

If you ask me, it probably has been going on a lot longer than we would care to know. There are so many more media outlets and devious people. Once again, I ask, who was the whistleblower? Faculty? A jealous student? A concerned student? An ex of either the student or the teacher?

I'm sure men teachers have been doing this longer and probably more often than female teachers. But who knows. The whole thing is careless on the adults ends. You know teenagers can't keep a sceret, male or female. And having been a boy, the first thing I used to do was tell the homies about my most recent "session".

Older people are generally flattered by a younger person being attracted to them.

Kick him out of school with his friends who all bet. If not they will be a distraction.

 

I'm not sure what I wanted to get out of that; I guess I was just curious as to what kind of punishment we'd be talking about. For certain, if I was that kid's father he wouldn't be leaving my sight for a LONG, LONG time, but I don't know that institutional punishment is in the long-term interest of what we're talking about here. They might be 18, but they were still in high school and high school kids do stupid things. That teacher had every opportunity to make sure that bet when ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE and instead she violated a cardinal rule of the teacher-student relationship. That's on her.

 

I'm not holding those guys blameless to be sure, but any punishment the school would hand down feels inappropriate to me. Perhaps some serious time in detention writing a mandatory paper about the dangers of gambling or why it's wrong to deliberately attempt to ruin someone's life... is that a permissible punishment at public schools these days?

If high school boys got in trouble for thinking and planning sex there would be all-female graduation ceremonies.

He did cost her a job, what about his actions, we all agree with that her actions were wrong, but he had a choice as an adult too to not do what he did, knowing the consequences for her.

 

Pretty ridiculous concept considering she simply could have said no and kept her job. It's not like he tied her up, atleast unwillingly.

I bet they probably broke rules by betting money illegally and accepting. Not sure.

 

Of course it was wrong but I don't see where the student should get in trouble unless there is strict wording in the school handbook to support it. Having sex in and of itself is not enough to punish him.

 

I'm thinking if the betting/gambling took place on school grounds, there might be a basis for punishment with the young man. It all depends on the school's policy.

In no way would I discount her behavior either. It sickens me. I would just say that there are no innocent parties involved here. Shame on them all.
