May 14, 201214 yr If he doesn't become interested in D he won't see much time. Speaking strictly generally sometimes a kid can get away without playing hard D because of his offensive skills. That obviously will not be an option in Lexington.
May 14, 201214 yr GT maybe you can answer this, but if this Mays kid already sat out one year for a transfer, how is he able to play right away after another transfer. Only way I know you can transfer like that is if you have finished your bachelors and start your masters at the new school (which may be the case) just curious? Never mind, I didnt see Sunrise had an article at the bottom of his post. Glad to see this kid has his head on right and took his college classes seriously.

May 14, 201214 yr Glad to see the Cats have added another body. Depth in my opinion was going to be a big concern this coming season but with the addition of Mays and if we can get one more front court player Cats should be in fairly good shape depth wise.
May 14, 201214 yr Looks like his HS coach isn't to thrilled that he's going to be playing at UK instead of Purdue.

May 14, 201214 yr Saw it on KSR and Twitter: Kentucky Sports Radio » Blog Archive » Julius Mays’ High School Coach Tweets His Thoughts on Decision Yeah saw that earlier on there, very odd if you ask me. I realize this coach is friends with Matt Painter at Purdue, but to openly come out and criticize Mays decision when he has committed to the defending National Champs (who have a huge need for guard depth) is a little too much. Especially on twitter for the whole world to see. Just sounds like sour grapes and disapointment for sure. Mays could have perhaps started or got more minutes at Purdue but to insinuate he made a mistake by choosing UK is quite a stretch on his part, especially with Cal's history with guards.

I was suprised as well, at least that he made the comments public. Would Purdue maybe have been a better fit for playing time? Probably. But he could make a decent name for himself at UK and possibly extend his career, at least overseas, from the exposure that he will get (I say that not knowing much about his game)
May 14, 201214 yr Saw it on KSR and Twitter: Kentucky Sports Radio » Blog Archive » Julius Mays’ High School Coach Tweets His Thoughts on Decision And now you know why most thought Purdue would be hard to beat. Good for Mays in making his own decision...
May 14, 201214 yr Not sure if there is more to the story, but that is really sad that I presume a person thought to be a Mays' supporter and mentor must take to twitter to voice his displeasure. I guess that does not exclude one from being an immature adult. Shame on him. Edited May 14, 201214 yr by bugatti

May 14, 201214 yr And I am fine with that. But why he feels that has to be aired out publicly is beyond me and sad. I'm not fine with. The job of a coach or menntor is to advise and help the recruit reach their own decision. Using the process to deliver guys to situations in the best interest of the coach/mentor ticks me off...
