They may be able to knock one of the "big boys" off; unfortunately for them, they are in the toughest district in the 9th and one of the toughest in the state, with Holmes, Holy Cross & Covington Catholic.

We did honor him. He received a few cheers; however, after a discussion with the some key faculty members at school the day before, we were not allowed to fully honor the man. So, just in case a so called faculty member knows who I am, I can't actually reveal who we chose. But, if you think about it hard enough, you could come up with a pretty good guess (his dad's name resides above a concession stand at the football field).

A few observations:

 

CovCath plays to their opponent's levels (seems to be the trend of the past few years)

 

Romes couldn't be stopped once he got it, but CCH did a good job preventing him to get the ball.

 

Cahill has improved a lot from last year.

 

Obviously, they need to develop inside scoring. Beechwood had zero players over 6"3.

 

As for girls in the student section, I'm not in it anymore, and while they would add A LOT of volume, it would dampen the comraderie. Anyways the "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" is always a classic.

The Post had a slightly different approach today, and about silencing the normally raucous CovCath student section, I think the CovCath/NDA Pep Band did a better job of keeping the boys quiet much more so than the Beechwood fans and team............CovCath surge past Tigers

"The Colonels, who shot only 35 percent from the floor in the first half, including a 2-of-13 performance from 3-point range, came out firing in the second half. CovCath made five 3-pointers in the third quarter, the last of which, a Danny Noll shot in the final minute of the period, gave the Colonels a 53-39 lead.

 

"Coach told us at halftime that we were shooting too much from the outside," said CovCath junior Todd Jacobs, who led the Colonels with 18 points. "He told us to take it to the basket more and that would open up the outside."

Let me get this straight...

 

They shot too many 3's in the 1st half, so they came back in the 3rd quarter and made 5...and everything was fine?

What Todd meant (I believe) is that they were forcing up too many shots from the outside. When the began to drive and dish to get the open looks, they began to hit those shots.
