The cheering section was a bit depleted because of the game. I'm not quite sure why people left, but I can assume it was for the Rose Bowl. Nice loud cheers though considering the numbers were slightly down. Lost that loving feeling is still sung at most games but tonight it was not... can't say for sure why. If there is a W brewing against the birds friday, it will be sung.

I've always thought that CCH could be an even tougher place to play if the Notre Dame girls would at least clap every once in a while. I understand them not getting into the cheers like the boys, but couldn't they at least get into the game a little bit?

The only time I remember them being in the game is last year against Brossart when the boys cheered at the opposing section's girls "put some clothes on" and the NDA girls chimed in. If i recall it was catholic school girl night which went off as a big hit for the CCH guys.

All it would take is one of the Seniors (how about Tony Roch) to come over to NDA and invite them to cheer (via the intercom at the end of the day) right along with you Friday night against Highlands who they dislike just as much as CCH. I would bet that they would jump at the chance and just might surprise you how loud girls can cheer.

Sounds like a good idea, but I think you might want to direct that towards Crossbar or cch5432 or somebody in the student section.

No doubt girls add huge volumes of loudness to a section, but I suppose it would take away from the trademark deep voiced section of the CCH crowd.

This is exactly how it has been since I can remember. I guess boys just want to be boys and girls were never integrated into the mix. Even cheerleaders were snuffed out eventually.

I agree with getting rid of the Cheerleaders. Even the NDA girls that I know hated the Cheerleaders. While in my day some of the girls did sit and cheer with us, many sat on the sides but cheered the Colonels on. You really should invite them to cheer with you. With only about 400 + boys now enrolled at CCH (When I was at CCH my class had more than 200 in it) the close to 600 girls would certainly fill up the student section completely. Come on, one of you brave boys would certainly love to go over to NDA one day and talk the girls into cheering instead of sitting on their hands......

Beechwood made a statment tonight there will be no easy games in the 35th district

CCH did a great job containing Romes. No FGs in the first half?? How many other teams hold him to that this year... or last year? He ended up with something around 11 points when i left the game around 3 mins left to watch the Rose Bowl. Good job rebounding by the Colonels, which is where this game was kept close with bad shooting by CCH in the first half IMO.

Not sure what game you were at but Cov Cath got beat on the boards AGAIN 38-35 by a much smaller team. Only good thing I saw on Cov Caths part was limiting Michael Romes to 2 field goals and 13 points. The Moore kid from Beechwood had a good game, and their center had good minutes. :walk:

Whats up with the Student section leaving the game in mass with over two minutes left. The fat lady hadn't quite yet sang her song.

 

Also why don't the guy's sing "You lost that loving feeling" anymore. I know its old hat but I love it.

 

And finally get the girls, even if you don't let them sit with you any more (they did years ago), to stand up and cheer. While they might look beautiful sitting there, there is nothing better in life than meeting that girl who understands sports and cheers her little old heart out while she tells you about the other teams point guard not being able to dribble to his left, or the pro and cons of using a zone. BTW if you meet that girl, marrry her, I did years and years ago

I think the Enquirer maybe was a bit misleading on how well CCH contained Michael Romes. I was a bit surprised to see that Michael did not get the ball 90% of the time when they were in their half-court offense. When he did get the ball , no one was able to stop him from penetrating. The usual result was him drawing a foul. Sometimes, CCH was effective in forcing the ball out of his hands by running another player at him but even then he sometimes was able to make something happen.

 

I'd have ridden that horse as much as I could and taken my chances.
