September 26, 201213 yr Getting the velocity back. Looks a bit more self-assured. Chapman threw 10 pitches against Milwaukee tonight. All 10 were 4 seam fastballs. Speed range was 95 to 100 mph. 3 up - 3 down but he was not overpowering. We are spoiled. For about 2 months Chapman just completely overwhelmed batters. When a batter hits a hard out, it is as though something must be wrong. Chapman appears to have a delicate psyche. It will be interesting to see how he perform in the playoffs.

Nothing is wrong when he's 95-100. However, it doesn't matter how hard you throw belt high is hit in the show. That's the only reason he was hit hard twice last night. He didn't throw a slider, did he?

October 1, 201213 yr Assuming nothing changes dramatically in the next 3 games. Reds up by 1 run in the 9th, game 1 of the playoffs. Broxton and Chapman are available. Who do you go with?
October 1, 201213 yr I suspect Dusty would go with Chapman. But, Chapman has looked real shaky of late. (Maybe time to call out some more somersaults. It seemed to snap Chapman out of his funk back in June.) Unless Chapman cleans things up a bunch in St. Louis, if I had both Chapman and Broxton available in the 9th inning of a 1 run playoff game next weekend, I would go with Broxton.

October 1, 201213 yr All I know is, I feel sorry for Hanigan. As jacked as Chapman got during the regular season at GABP, he may hit 110 in a playoff game. Of course, he could hit the on-deck batter, too.
October 1, 201213 yr I am a fan of riding out on the same horse that brought you. Chapman will be fine. Needs to gain some confidence. St.Lo will be a good testing ground since it's a playoff atmosphere with essentially nothing on the line. Run the missile out there I say.

Someone gets sniped with a 100+ fastball? Run him out there.
