Made a really nice venison roast in the slow cooker a few weeks ago. I can't imagine it won't work just as great with a beef roast.

3-4 pound roast

3 shallots, quartered

4 or 5 stalks of celery

1/2 pound of carrots

4 potatoes, halved

1 bunch scallions, chopped

1/4 cup soy sauce (I always use low sodium soy sauce)

2 beers

2 tbsp parsley

1 tbsp sage

1 tbsp rosemary

1 tbsp thyme

Salt & Pepper

Mix the beer, soy sauce, scallions, parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme together in the slow cooker. Add in the roast, and place the carrots, celery, shallots, and potatoes around the roast in the crock pot. Dust with salt and pepper, and set to cook on medium in the morning. It'll be fantastic by dinnertime.

I was at the grocery store last night and they had 4 chuck roasts in the manager's special bin at $3.09 a pound with a "cook or freeze-by" date of today. I bought all 4 of them, threw three of them in

Scarborough Fair with meat. :D I'm going to try it tomorrow.

Made this one for dinner last night and it was absolutely delicious....

4 pork tenderloins

2 8oz. cans of tomato sauce

2 tablespoons of cajun seasoning

1.5 teaspoons of cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of pepper

Mix sauce and seasonings together, coat bottom of the slow cooker with 1/2 cup of sauce mixture.

Put tenderloins in the slow cooker and pour remainder of sauce mixture over top.

Cook on low for 7-7.5 hours.

It was much spicier than I had anticipated, but was easily the easiest and best tasting item we've made in the slow cooker thus far.

What kind of Cajun seasoning do you use? I have one that I put on all kinds of things. I've got a subcontractor who grew up in Louisiana swamp-land, and he gave me his personal recipe for Cajun seasoning. It's about as real-deal as it comes, and it's AWESOME.

I have a few generic ones that I picked up at Kroger's, and I have one called "Cajun Swamp" that I picked up from Jungle Jims, but in all honesty it's pretty weak. The generic stuff has proved better IMO.

I'd love to try my hand at a "homemade Cajun seasoning". Mind sharing the recipe?

I'll have to find where I've got it written down at home, but I'll be glad to.

Has anyone ever tried those slow cooker liners? Looks like they go in the crock and fold out over the top. I saw an ad for them, made by Reynolds. It would be easy cleanup for something really messy like BBQ Pulled Pork.

I am going to do some ribs in the slow cooker tomorrow. The past couple ribs were good so I am excited.

The slow cook liners are great. Very easy cleanup - I think once you try them you will be happy.

This is the easiest slow cooker recipe ever!

3 pound chuck roast

sliced onion

16 oz jar of pepperoncinis

Dump the onion and the whole jar of the pepperoncinis on top of the chuck roast and cook 10 to 12 hours on low. Slice the meat and serve on hoagie buns with the pepperoncinis and a slice of provolone or swiss. This is so easy and so good. Good without the onion, too, if you prefer.

This continues to be a favorite at our house. I don't like to cut up onions. So

I have been substituting a dry packet of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix, and add in with the jar of pepperoncinis.

That sounds good! Did I miss a recipe for ribs on this thread? Can you post one? Thanks!

For every male on this thread, ask your significant other if they have a "Pinterest" account. If so, tell them to spend their time looking up slow-cooker recipes on there. That way, they can waste their time at work/school looking up recipes. Much like we spend our work/school time on BGP.

I am not sure what my wife did but I believe she got the recipe off pintrest. I had no idea she was going to do the "cooking" on this one. She had some BBQ sauce mix with honey and seasoning salt. Let it set overnight and I set it to simmer before I left for work.

 I actually started a pinterest account a couple weeks ago and it is pretty cool even though I do not use it. Girls love it though and I can understand why.
