Slow Cooker Recipe Favorites

Featured Replies

Thanks for making me hungry this early in the morning.

Anytime! You could probably make breakfast in the slow cooker. But you have to prepare the night before.

Any breakfast slow cooker recipes out there?

I was at the grocery store last night and they had 4 chuck roasts in the manager's special bin at $3.09 a pound with a "cook or freeze-by" date of today. I bought all 4 of them, threw three of them in

Here is the easiest mexican dish

Throw frozen...yes frozen....chicken breasts into crock pot

Dump 1 can of favorite salsa over it

Dump 1 can of corn over it

Dump 1 can of bean over it.....

Cook

20 minutes before eating, melt 1 rectangle of cream cheese over chicken breast......

Enjoy it with sides, or I like to put it in taco and burrito shells....

You will never go to chipotle again

We do a version of this on the grill. Mix a can of black beans, cup of frozen corn, a can of Rotel, and some cumin in a bowl. Get a sheet of foil for each chicken breast you have. Spray each sheet with some Pam, lay down a chicken breast, and then scoop the bean/corn/Rotel mixture on each. Fold up each one sealing it all the way around and place on the grill for about 20 minutes. Open the pouch and throw some cheese on it. Once it melts, pull it out and each.

Right now, I've got some chicken with beer cooking in the crock-pot. I've got 3 thick chicken breasts, a bottle of beer (Yuengling was in the fridge), salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano. It should be done by kick-off.

We've been doing a lot of crockpot cooking as we have some type of activity going on every day except Thursday. Almost all of them are a weight watchers' type recipes, but they've all been good. This beer chicken is a first though.

White Chicken Chili

4 or 5 chicken breasts

A jar of salsa (choose your heat)

Cup or can of chicken stock (depends how thick you want it)

3 cans of Great Northern Beans

The salsa is the key flavoring ingredient, so use a good one.

My favorite that we make is Pork Barbacoã. It's one of my wife's Skinny Taste (something like that) recipes. Pork Loin, garlic powder, Coke Zero, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, green chilies, etc. Gotta cook the pork loin all day in the Coke with a little water and garlic powder. Then shred and put in everything else the last hour or two. It makes awesome tacos or burritoes, or just a standalone meat.

Did these two, only I used dried great northerns and left off the cream cheese ending. Then I added the taco seasoning from TB&G's recipe and cooked on low all day. Came out great!

I'm going to do that exact thing Sunday. Rat did you put the dried beans on the cooker or cook them first?

Today in the slow cooker:

Crock Pot Pork Chops

4 thick cut chops

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 package of dry ranch seasoning mix

4 cloves of garlic

1/2 cup chicken broth

pepper

Combine soup, ranch dressing mix, garlic, and broth.

Sprinkle chops with pepper (no salt)

Place chops in crock pot and pour soup mixture over.

Cover and cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 6-7 hours.

Serve over rice.

(I doubled the recipe. The chops were not exactly thick. Serving it over noodles today. Will check in later with results. Right now it smells great!)

That's why I doubled the recipe!

Got a 6 lb butt going while I'm at work.

Last night before I went to bed I injected it with a mixture of:

1/2 cup apple juice

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup OJ

salted the exterior pretty thuroughly.

Wrapped in plastic and stuffed in a tupperware container till this morning.

This morning I course chopped an onion (skin and all) and an apple.

Through them in the crockpot. Put the butt on top of them. Poured in the marinade that leaked out. Set for 10 hours and left.

Stopping to get some french bread and ham on the way home. Having cuban sandwiches for dinner.

Sorry plantmanky. Got nothing for you today.

I made a killer potato soup last week. 7 medium potatoes cut up, 5 cups chicken broth, 1/2 medium onion and country ham pieces. I put it in the crock pot in low and cooked for about 12 hours. Then when I got home from work I added 1/2 cup milk and 3/4 cup of sour cream.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I put the beans in dry.

Ok this past weekend's tailgate included a slow cooker again.

I took a 6lb roast beef (what ever is on sale - I used a bottom round)

Removed the bulk of the fat and put the roast in the crockpot.

Mixed together:

2 14oz cans of beef broth

1 16oz jar of peperoncini rings juice and all. I diced it up very fine.

1 8oz jar of Italian Giardiniera (drained). I rough diced these to leave them pretty chunky.

2 envelopes of zesty italian salad dressing mix

Poured all of that over the meat, put the lid on, and set on low for 12 hours.

-Took the meat out and shredded it all up.

-Skimmed the fat off of the juice(wasn't much), and pulled out about 1/3 of the juice out for dipping.

-Put all of the meat back in the crockpot to keep it hot.

-Got some of those long french loaves from Kroger. Baked them right on the grill.

-Sauteed up some sweet peppers and some hot peppers.

-Cut the loaves into 4 sandwich size rolls.

-Sliced open a piece of crusty bread, stuffed it with beef, peppers of choice, and shredded cheddar cheese. Had little bowls of juice for dipping.

Dang that was good.

You my friend have locked up "Formerkywrestler's Tailgater of the Year". Now you just need to tell me where your next tailgate is so I can deliver the award in person!

You are welcome any time, as is anybody who wants to come. It's a bit of a haul, but the motorhome does sleep 8.

Can't miss us. We're the ones with the loud music.

I'm easy to find. I'm the big indian with the jar of moonshine in his hand.
