I was surprised at how many players Kentucky State has sent to the draft, even one first rounder

If he gets any money at Morehead he would be a rarity.

Morehead is about 10 to 11 grand a year. Let me give you a scenerio for a student who doesn't find themselves eligible for grants. IE.. pays for it themselves. An average student with a good ACT can get 4,000 in scholarships fairly easy. Also when they have early signup things, you can add another 1 or 2000 to that for an early commitment. Then add your KEES money. (with decent grades and ACT should be 1500 to 2000 per year at least.) that's 6,500 add the 2,300 guaranteed Federal loan for incoming freshman. and that's a grand total of $8,800. Leaving 1200 to 2200 for the student to come up with. Money should not be an issue at Morehead.

Ron Blume has talked to Morehead, nixed a visit to Univ. of Virginia, nixed talk with UK because he has his own dreams. His father told him it was not about what anyone wants you to do, it's all about you. You follow your dreams. This young man does not have a problem with going to a smaller college, financing his first year or being a walk on. He wants to go to Ohio. He knows he will have to prove himself.....start from the bottom but he has heart and determination. If he is able to do as well as he has been, he will get noticed by the school of his dreams. He has talked to the coach at Muskingham College and will be meeting with him this week-end.

Of course I am prejudice, but he deserves to have his dreams come true, as do all of the other fine young men.

While I am at it, I would like to thank all of you. It has been a pleasure reading everything I could find on my grandson. All of you will be apart of the scrapbook I am making on him. Thank you so very much!

Sorry, but theres a diff between dreams & delusions. When a youngster is fortunate to have any kind of a chance to get an education due to their talent (athletic or otherwise) it seems a bit presumptious to "nix" even talking to any school (especially a major SEC or ACC university). A coach or adult knowledgable about the process needs to be advising these youngsters.

If he can get admitted to Muskeegham (sp?) and/or be able to cover the expenses - more power to him, but keep in mind that letters, calls, etc. are NOT "offers". Talk to any number of players who've been disillusioned about the process in the past. Morehead is easy to get into, the level of competition allows for participation for those who want to keep playing the game (& not be practice fodder, etc), AND a degree is attainable. Hopefully thats the realistic goal 95% of these youngsters will strive for (unless they have a different non-academic, trade, or vocational goal)

Best wishes to all the youngsters who have worked hard to achieve their goals. Keep in mind that your goals can evolve as you gain more information. This doesnt make anyone a loser in anyway. The working towards something helps make them winners :D

Morehead offers no football money the money you mentioned is available to prospective students.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the athletes students as well? Call the Office of Financial Aid and see what kind of aid is available. If you want to play at Morehead State, they will find ways to assist you...LEGALLY! They aren't going to throw cars at you and pay your cellphone bills...that would be ILLEGAL...but they will provide opportunities for you to earn money working as a work study, and not to mention the jobs that you can get on your own...Businesses in Morehead are flexible with hours for student-athletes...It may not be the most prestigious job in town, but if you want to play and get your education...there are plenty of options

Exactly, I wasn't meaning to imply anything in my posts if I did. It's a good school and very affordable.

Cheers, Woody Jr

add big Quintin Borders a 6'5 300 lb offensive lineman from Bryan Station who signed with Colorado.

Boomer34, here's another link I though you and others might like. It shows the current players from different 1-AA schools in the NFL....................LTW.

Does anyone know the current situation of Cov Cath's kicker, Tony Roach? He was considered to be one of the premier kickers this year, and was expected to sign with a division I school. Does anyone know if this has or still might happen?

Yes, but they are D2 and currently rebuilding.

Add Sam Gardner (Michigan State) to the list and that is now four players from Henry Clay who will be playing major college football next year. This is the reason I made the comment earlier on BGP on caught a bunch of flack over it from the Rock fans, that Henry Clay had more talent on the field than did Trinity. Trinity was a much better team on that night, but how many Trinity players are going D-I?

I don't think anyone argued your claim that HC had more D1 talent than Trinity. However, Trinity was the better team that night and every night. I guess HC fans learned a lesson about how important a coach and his staff are that night. So no flack from me, I'll continue to enjoy the Rocks success and HC fans can continue to wonder what might have been.

FYI, the Rocks have ruined the memories of more impressive teams than last year's HC squad. Just look up the MVP in the NFL last year, he didn't fare much better against the Rocks.
