Florence is a great place to live.

 

I would have agreed with this statement Guru up until the time I got a ticket in the city limits of Florence for my truck being parked in the grass (which apparently is a violation) of my friends Mothers house, while we were working on pouring a new concrete driveway.

The only time he can do it is Sunday at 8 AM? He must be a busy guy.

He is a carpenter by trade. Works for a contractor 6 days a week and does side work on Sundays. His wife is a travel tour coordinator and is out of town most weekends, or she is the one doing the mowing.

You can't park on the grass, this ain't the hillbilly part of town.

 

All kidding aside, if you were working on a construction project (with proper permits) and you got a ticket for that, that is a real cheap shot. Now if you didn't have the proper permits for the driveway work then shame on your mother's friend and the ticket was much deserved.

This was after they redid Hopefull Church Road, the City/county tore her whole drive way apart except for about 20 feet from the house. City fixed her drive from the road till about 10 feet past the sidewalk, and said you have to fix the rest. They put gravel down and said you have to redo this and make it a hard surface asap. I fought the ticket in court and the judge threw it out so no biggie, just more the principal behind getting the ticket.

I would still think a permit was needed.

 

And that is a state road (KY 842) so I am not sure who did what.

 

Either way, glad the judge saw it your way.

And as far as commercial accounts, that fact they are making money gives then less of a privilege to cut early in the morning, not more in my opinion. The commercial companies need to schedule their commercial accounts in the early morning and do their residential accounts in the late morning and beyond.

As far as commercial companies go...with the cost of gas at almost $4 a gallon, I would venture to say it's not always logistically possible to only do the commercial accounts first or financially smart. I live right next to a commercial business that gets their grass cut early in the a.m. once a week. I highly doubt that they would drive past my house right next door to go 5 miles to their next account, then circle back to my house later.

Are we talking about every day or just weekends? To expect the 10:00AM rule during the week doesn't make sense. I can see it on the weekends but still think 10:00am is too late.

To answer your get up question, whenever I want. Now on to you...

 

You chose to live next to a commercial business park and I am sure it is extremely convenient for you and your family when you also chose to patronize one of those many businesses because you can walk and in cases like that you have to take the good with the bad.

 

Gas costs just as much for private mowers and if cost is the issue then the grass company needs to up their rates (in addition to praying for more snow next year).

 

I am thinking all week woodsrider. I like 10am, I can live with 9am, but anything before 9am ain't right.

 

Larry, if you could even find my house I would be impressed.

I'm pretty sure I tick off more neighbors walking my dog at 4:30am Mon-Fri, than I do craking up lawn equipment @ 7am on a Saturday or Sunday. :lol: EVERY day we walk before I go to work, and EVERY day, in several houses, I hear dogs just barking like crazy when we go walking by. :lol:

No permit needed since the apron to the road was already completed previously.
