March 10, 201214 yr GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Reds closer Ryan Madson, who has not pitched in a game yet this spring because of right elbow irritation, has still not been scheduled to see action. Madson has been throwing the last couple of days but hasn't been moved up to the next step of working in a side bullpen session. "We're just moving forward with playing catch," pitching coach Bryan Price said Friday. "Once he can show he's done everything he can do on flat ground, he'll graduate to a mound." March 24, 201214 yr More people on here than care about the Cards. A lot of Cardinal fans in KY. I am sure there are more Red fans on here but you don't see us going on to every Red thread and putting "who cares?" on each one.

March 26, 201214 yr So wait, the reds signed this guy, who started camp with elbow/arm issues? Did they not do a physicall on him and work him out some to make sure he was physically ok?
March 26, 201214 yr So wait, the reds signed this guy, who started camp with elbow/arm issues? Did they not do a physicall on him and work him out some to make sure he was physically ok? Some people just love to complain without knowing the facts. He was given a full physical before he signed, passed. He took another physical at the very start of Spring Training, passed. The MRI and testing done on his elbow showed it was a very recent tearing of the ligament, meaning it happened in the past couple days. Bad luck, simple as that.

March 26, 201214 yr Out for the season. That's devastating. The most easily replaceable position in baseball IMO is closer. The Reds have several more than capable replacements on hand. Look at the Cardinals last year. How many "closers" did they use on their way to a title?
