From Coach Pence on Facebook: Wow where to begin. I’m am so honored, excited and blessed to be the third head coach in Walton-Verona football history. Coach McMillen first and then coach Barth all these years laid such a great foundation for me to come into. I look forward to continue to build on that strong foundation that they laid and to work to take that next step forward as a program. I also wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the kind messages today. My phone has been non stop today with messages and calls from family, friends, former players, and members of the Walton-Verona community. There are no words to describe how much this means to me. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the Walton-Verona community, and working with the youth and middle school football programs as well. My big motto is “One Heartbeat” because we are truly all in this together, and it will take all of us coming together and working together from the top down to continue to build this program and to take the next step. I had the honor of being a part of the state championship run at Cooper last year, and that is what I want to build here at Walton. I am excited and can’t wait to get started next week! Go Bearcats! #oneheartbeat I want to now take the time to thank the Cooper Jaguar family. I truly loved the last 10 years coaching at Cooper, and getting to be around so many amazing players and families. The support you have shown me through the years is greatly appreciated. It was time for me to chase my dream, but I will always still be here for any former players and families if you need me. I can’t wait to watch you all finish the deal this year, and I will be right there in the stands at UK cheering you on! I love you guys, go win it all! Go Jags! I also wanted to say thank you to all the coaches I have played for, worked for, and worked with through the years to help get me to this moment. I have learned so much from everyone through the years, and there is too many to name, so I will leave it at just one for now. I wanted to give a special thanks to Coach Randy Borchers. He coached me as a player in high school, then brought me to Cooper after I coached at Newport and Conner. At Cooper is where I learned and grew the most as a coach and it is because of him. I truly can’t thank him enough for all he has done to help get me to this point. Thank you to everyone once again! I am excited to be a part of the Bearcat family, and I can’t wait to meet everyone at the meet the coach night on Tuesday! It’s time to get to work! Go Bearcats! #oneheartbeat

I think this is a great hire by Walton-Verona. Congrats Coach Pence! I think highly of Coach Pence, I know him, and I even know his sweet mom. Great family oriented people. Good luck Brother!!
