Fort Campbell looked good during its jamboree last Friday, albeit against mediocre competition. This will be the first start for freshman QB Jaylen Williams and RB Marcus Pratt, who looked impressive during the Jamboree. Last year’s QB Aaron Hills figures to play a big part on both sides of the ball as well as providing leadership on the field. Clarksville High has historically been one of the better teams from the city of Clarksville which has 8 high schools. However, all reports are that they are a bit down this year and this is the first full year under a new head coach. Who wins and why?

Mayfield’s win over Trousdale County a couple of years ago and their scrimmage results this year against Milan certainly give credibility, not that they need any, to Mayfield’s team. However, the status of an entire state’s football I think is judged more by large school results than the smaller class schools. To quiet the Tennessee crowd it will take wins over teams like Maryville, Brentwood Academy, MUS, Ensworth, Riverdale, etc… Trinity should do just that this Friday and I too am rooting for them even though I’m a resident of Tennessee :isurrender:, born and raised in Ohio , but cheer for Kentucky High School football.

Yes, and the same could be said for every other team in the state. Certainly there are the Mayfield, Beachwood, Highlands, and Trinitys of the world that are expected to win championships almost every year, but doesn’t every team play the game to win? I can’t see a single team, even a program that was 0-10 last year, playing their final game and not being disappointed with anything less than a win and there are only a few teams in the state each year that don’t end their season with a loss. Six of them are crowned champions and the others don’t make the playoffs, so they are obviously disappointed.

Agreed. The Madisonville vs Lone Oak game will be one to watch.

I would almost equate this year’s Brentwood Academy team to this year’s St X team. They might be down due to graduation or whatever, but never count them out. They are in the very top tier of teams in Tennessee year-in and year-out, well coached, and a huge football tradition. With that said, everything I’ve read says Trinity has a very special team this year and should prevail.

Brentwood Academy is ranked 3rd in Tennessee (all classes) behind Maryville and Alcoa. They are ranked 1st in their class A2. Because they are in A2 I believe that does mean that they provide financial assistance to students.

Kenwood is projected to be near the bottom of 5A in Tennessee this year. They only dressed 31 players for the scrimmage.

Madisonville looked impressive in both of their scrimmages, Apollo and West Creek (TN). For Apollo it is going to be a long year I’m afraid.

It seemed like they had Hills as a slot receiver or even a second TB in certain packages. Kind of a gutsy move to take an experienced senior QB and replace him with a freshman, but it added one more threat on the field and looked like a good move to me based on their scrimmage results. Also, to echo what FalconBacker said, the defense played very well. They swarmed to the ball, played tough in the trenches, and put a lot of pressure on the QB.

It ought to be interesting to see them against Apollo. I’m not too excited about Kenwood since they have played them the last two years. I really wanted to see them scrimmage Clarksville Academy. Regardless I’m looking forward to see how they are shaping up this year.
