I don't think he would have been at several because college coaches can only go to so many of the same schools game. I don't see Dean Hood who is the coach that recruits the state for EKU would let him go to several especially if they don't have any college players.

I have a friend that coaches college ball he told me this story. He went into a school on a Wednesday recruiting so he ask t the head coach "coach I will be coming back later today to watch you all practice what time will you all be on the field?" Coach replies "oh we don't practice on Wednesdays"! That team is from one of the surrounding states to us and they went undefeated and won the state championship!!!!! I wont tell you the kids that were on the team or you will know the school. But I will say PLAYERS and they win championships but I do believe a head coach and coaching staff is def a factor. But this coach hadn't done much before or since so I would say it was players.

Agree, Trinity has been winning state titles long before beatty got there and they will long after he is gone.

In 6A football it isn't one class folks, you better have 1 if not 2 good classes behind them! This is big boy football where you better have a dang good Soph class to be really good. In A AA AAA you might be able to get by with a real good senior class with nothing behind them but in 6A you better have classes stacked on top of each other or your in trouble. I saw Boones Fresh play this year, Boone Co. is in for some long painful years.

I keep hearing this players out of position stuff, sounds like to me daddies mad cause little Bobby is playing guard instead of fullback or QB. And you are talking about a guy who had a top 5 defense in the state for 10 years in a row! Sounds like a guy that knows where to put players. Listen here is the problem at Boone Co. THE BOARD DOESNT CARE ABOUT FOOTBALL!!!!! Back in the day before all these new high schools the Central Office gave a crap. Please correct me if I am wrong about this. Once you get 2 or more high schools in the same system the school board is worried about giving everybody there fair share and sports goes on the back burner.

so you think the Lexington schools are the only 6A schools that don't have coaches in the building or don't have backing from the admin. Wake up there are only about 15 schools in the state where they do football like it is suppose to be done so quit whining for Lafayette they have a heck of a lot more going for them than most 6A schools. The head football coach at Bowling Green up until about 2 years ago had a full load of math classes and he was winning state titles brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is plan English and is a fact!!! And if you check I bet you will find that Lafayette has more big time players, D1 that is than BG.

man I wish I knew has much as you about football. Who in the crap is talking about beating Trinity we are talking about beating teams that have less talent than Lafayette has period cut. No one is talking about why are they not beating Trinity, you have to beat the teams that you have more talent than. And if you don't yes people will ? your coaching ability if it continues to happen.

In the 80's they played for state title and how many teams are super high level? 4 in the state! And Simon Kenton aint super high level so you cant use that excuse for them beating you.

EXCELLENT POST. You are right Harry if you take over Trinity then you should win but if you take over a school that was crappy and you win 6 games IMO that is like winning the state title at some of these powerhouses. Everybody cant and wont win state championships so if a guy can win at schools that haven't really won much then you have to look at what he has done at that program. Hey if you win 7 games at UK you are the greatest and you get a big bonus and a new contract you do that at Alabama they help you move so they can get you out of town as fast as possible. I think (and with your post maybe people will think about it) people really need to look at the situation that coaches are in and stop thinking that every school can win state titles because they cant. Really and truly if you think about it Beatty wins state title at Trinity and less just say Joe wins 9 games at a program that has won 7 games combined the previous 3 years, who really should be the state coach of the year. Hey look at the guy that took Wayne Co. to the state title a couple of years ago if he wasn't he should have been overall state coach of the year. Heck if he won 8 games at Wayne he should have been much less taking them to state title. Sorry I got on a roll. But great post HD!

if you all haven't notice admins or most of them NO NOTHING ABOUT SPORTS. He should have made them fire him!!!! but it is a shame these admin are so dumb they look at college sports and see how guys get fired after 3 or so years and think high school sports is that way. Well it isn't at least in the public schools you are going to have down years unless you are like some coaches and recruit. He is not the first coach to be fired for some bull and will not be the last good luck to him!!!!

I will tell you who the best OC is in the state!! Hands down no ? about it. WAIT FOR IT. It is the coach who has the most talent, its called players people. Some of you really believe the guy at trinity is a genius, when they play in state schools they kill people bottom line because they have all the players!!!!
