Maybe true, but so far this year Ryle's hitters have looked bad way too often. There are some very good ball players on this team who are really struggling right now at the plate.

Ryle is 2-6 and doesn't deserve to be there right now.

Probably anyone from Conner would be a good candidate considering the great start they have had!

He played solid and looked comfortable to me.

Sorry, but we aren't talking about any of your teams or your storied career in this post. THE AC coach, knowing they had a 7th grader, three 8th graders, and five freshman still pounded this team into submission. Almost as mind blowing is the thought that the Eminence coach left his starter in for 32 runs. You can't put into words how awful this makes high school baseball in Kentucky look.

No offense because you still have to make the play, but it wasn't exactly a chopper and the player you talking about in the post isn't exactly a speedster. Now if it was O'Hara from Ryle running then it would be a great play.

I don't see where Cov Cath was a juggernaut at the plate tonight either. Without putting a couple of hits together in the 5th they get zipped also.

I don't think either team should be overly proud of that game. It surely didn't look like two of the top three teams in NKY.

All good thoughts... do whatever you can to limit the onslaught. This may have been a time where the KHSAA doesn't even post the score. I guarantee that at some point the AC players started to be very uncomfortable with what was transpiring.

I give credit where it is due and that was a good win for Cov Cath. They got it done when they had the opportunity and Ryle did not. I will say though that Ryle made Cov Cath's pitching look good by continuing to not swing the bats and not cashing in when they had the opportunities (still taking way to many called strikes, especially in key situations). We faced much better pitching this past weekend against E Town, Trinity and even though Ryle didn't hit fantastic we were at least able to put some runs on the board. Ryle better start hitting the ball or it will be a long road.

So do the posters that originally said you don't blame AC at all for pounding Eminence like they did feel the same way?

I don't like that the teams aren't seeded at the end of the regular season for the regional tournament:irked:. With the draw format you could have two of the best teams play each other in the first round, such as Holy Cross vs Ryle. That would be a shame, whoever those teams with the best records at the end of the season may be.

Because they don't seed the JV Regional Tournament (it is a draw) you really only have to be playing like one of the top teams in NKY at the end of the season to have an opportunity to win it. Ryle will be one of those teams at the end to have a chance and by the sound of it Holy Cross already is.

I am disgusted by this if the score is correct... If it is correct the AC coach needs to be reprimanded!

I was there... and will tell you that there was no catch in the first inning and the 3rd strike call was really poor. It is one thing to protect and another to swing at a really bad pitch. For sure though you always have to keep in mind that a team must take matters into their own hands by hitting the ball, which I believe DD did say in his post.

Just an FYI on this topic, in the third game of this tournament vs Trinity there were some abrupt switches early in the game.

Yes, too bad... he has all the physical tools to be a dominate pitcher in coming years.

They are very good ball players but unless they are thought of as being much better than or every day players at the Varsity level in their prospective positions they will not move up at Ryle (you also have to take into account time spent coming up through the system as a reward). Example: Logan Carney (sophmore), who by the way would start at a majority of other NKY schools. Ryle has Juniors that aren't playing positions that would start at most NKY schools. I know of one who tried out and made one of the top 18U summer teams as a every day position player who may not play an inning in the field at Ryle this year.

Correct, Hurd was the #1 and lead NKY in strikeouts last year.
