Campbell Co. 5 Conner 4

Featured Replies

Camels defeat Conner on Jordan Woodruff's one out single in the bottom of the seventh to score Andy Franzen with the winning run. Woodruff goes three for four with four RBI and pitches six innings striking out six and walking one. Bobby Estes gets his first Varsity win for the Camels, pitching a scoreless seventh. Camels have Cov. Cath. at Cov. Cath Friday at five, followed with another game with Calvary at home later Friday evening.:ylsuper:

My records show Woodruff did well but in 5 innings, not six. Estes gave up 3 runs in the 6th inning to tie the game at 4 and then got the win in the 7th. Congrats to Woodruff, he was every bit the player I heard he was.

Check your records, Bobby only pitched the last inning. He did not pitch in the sixth.

Did anybody call Woodruff as the sleeper of the year?

I can't believe anyone would have thought of Woodruff as a sleeper, unless of course, they have been sleeping. Six good innings for Woody. :dancingpa

Woodruff gave up 3 runs in the 6th inning not estes... that tied the game

Maybe he is not as good as everyone thought... But I'm not sure.

I watched the game.. He was not over powering by any sense he struck out the first 4 batters but after that maybe one through his 6 innings.. when conner woke up they put the ball in play and got some tough breaks I would considering woodruff average maybe slightly above... MAYBE

Wood was getting a little tired with 85 pitches this early in the season, but all 3 runs in the 6th were unearned.

I understand that nothing about him stands out but he held Beechwood to one hit and has looked very solid in his two appearances. So I would have to say he's a little better than average because the Tigers can hit the ball very well.

hmmmm... from the stands nothing stood out but its always different at the plate... and the 3 runs were not unearned there was a double to start the inning and even if the other two were unearned the kid from conner hit a double off the right field wall to clear the bases

I didn't attend the game so when I heard you say he gave up 3 runs I thought they would be earned.

Then maybe my perspective on the kid was wrong.

I cant remember how all three runners got on except the double to start the inning
