The NFHS is trying to create uniformity across the nation with the uniforms. It may not be an issue is small rural communities but headband colors and styles could be considered gang colors and other issues that go with that. The game is a team game and until you get paid at the professional level it should be about the team and not drawing attention to yourself. Coaches and school administration didn't want to be the bad guys so NFHS had to be more forceful in the rules thus making the officials the fashion police. Coaches are asked at the beginning of each game if the players are properly equiped to federation standards. In today's world any official that allows a player on the floor in a brace that is something other than all neoprene or elastic without a protective sleeve is asking for trouble.

There isn't a fire exit for either side on the end where the construction is going on (stage end). Not sure what has changed since last year since it was all blocked off at tourney time?:confused:

According to the KHSAA website Carroll County has the 2nd largest gym in the region at 3300 with Shelby next at 3000. Henry County is rated at 5400. Major suggestion for the boys regional - CARPOOL :jump: or rent a limo

at Henry County The construction crew better get more parking finished in the next 7 weeks and the gym wall fixed so the fire marshal moves their signs. At least 1/3 of the seats are currently blocked off.

Owen County had one field goal in the first half at 10.7 seconds left in the second quarter. Owen made a run in the second half got it to 8 but the Lady Panthers played it out.

Henry County @ Carroll County - postponed and rescheduled as a Boy - Girl doubleheader tomorrow night (weather permitting).

Last year's coach moved into administration and Grant has a policy against administrators being coaches.

The 8th Region Basketball Officials Association does their part. The officials donate their games checks to the cause.

Scoring for the game: Owen County Marsden - 15 Gamble - 14 Shelton - 9 Colligan - 6 15 -2 -8/10 = 44 Carroll County Yager - 19 Cable - 11 Allen - 9 Hendrick - 7 Craig - 6 Brocious - 2 13 - 3 - 19/31 = 54 Disparity at the line was Owen started fouling with 3+ on the clock. Carroll shot 23 freethrows in the 4th Quarter.

This was a tight game throughout. Owen led by 1 at the half 19-18. Carroll started the third quarter with a little run and Owen used 2 timeouts then it reversed and Owen went up by 5 and Carroll used 2 timeouts (all in the third). In the 4th quarter Carroll had 3 possesions that they scored a "and one" and two threes and created a margin of 6-7 points that they maintained. Carroll did a great job from the line the last 3 minutes of the game. The whole team played well but Matt Allen had his best game in a while and Casey Cable played some stellar defense on Colin Gamble. Great job Panthers - remember this is just the first step in a much longer jouney - keep working hard!
