Here's inviting everyone to come out to the Oldham County HS Ronald McDonald House Classic this coming Saturday, beginning at 2 pm.

2 pm Oldham County vs. Assumption (girls)

4 pm South Oldham vs. Grant County (boys)

6 pm North Oldham vs. Henderson County (boys)

8 pm Oldham County vs. Lloyd Memorial (boys)

Should be a fun day...the North - Henderson matchup features two teams that are both ranked in the top 3 of their respective regions.

More importantly, the proceeds are going to help a really worthwhile cause. You get to watch a lot of HS basketball and the RMH is helped to continue providing support for families with sick children.

15 years ago this month, I found myself staying at the Louisville RMH for a week while my son was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Kosair Children's hospital in a fight against pulmonary hypertension... if you're part of the lucky majority who's never had to experience something like this, be thankful...for those who have, you know that the RMH is a lifesaver. With a child in the hospital, you find that you lose focus of the everything else - even basic day-to-day necessities. The RMH becomes a haven for families in this situation, providing them with a home away from home where they can be near their hospitalized children.

And for those experiencing this at Christmastime, it's especially traumatic.

Please consider coming to Buckner for the day and enjoying some high school basketball, all for one low price. You enjoy the games; someone else will enjoy the support you will be giving them at a tough time in their lives.

(For those wondering, our story had a happy ending. Kevin pulled through...on Christmas Day, 1993, he was removed from the ICU...today he is a freshman at Oldham County HS, runs a 19:35 5K on the cross-country team - not state championship contender time, but not bad for a freshman - and started at 2B on the freshman baseball team last year... he'll be at the RMH Classic, serving as a courtside reporter for Pegasus Sports...)

If you come, stop by the Pegasus table and say "hi"... :thumb:

I will be there to support the Braves, look forward to meeting you.

See you there!

Good luck for a great cause

I really hope people "on the fence" will go to the games, though! Fantastic charity!

The 8th Region Basketball Officials Association does their part. The officials donate their games checks to the cause.
