The officials weren't calling it close, they weren't calling it at all! Haha! It was ridiculous the missed calls both ways in this game. The one official has been at it for years and has done several State tournaments and was horrible. Calls went both ways but it seemed like several critical calls/no calls went against Montgomery Co. I think the excitement in the gym got the best of these officials. All that being said, both teams got after one another and it was an exciting game. Both teams miss handled the ball and made numerous turnovers. I liked the frame by frame pics of the last shot, did you notice Anna Martin's reaction in the 2nd frame? I think she thought it was gonna go through. Gotta love the excitement of a game that goes down to the wire. Kudos ladies, hope there is a part 3 to the movie! :popcorn:

Two heavyweights, playing good defense made the game sloppy at times but nothing was coming easy, just wish the officals had done a better job. Wow, missed call after missed call in this one. Maybe these two teams will meet up again for the grudge match in the State Championship game. Excellent crowd tonight. This what I thought about the officiating though :puke:

I was at this game on Friday night and the point is, Rowan Co. couldn't guard the big 3, especially Martin and Clifton. It is what it is, had nothing to do with effort. Everyone keeps focusing on the great shooting, I'd be more concerned with the rebounding and the turnovers. It's hard to beat the better teams in the state when you don't hold your own in those areas. When you're a top ten team or have been labeled that and something like this happens, then you have to understand there will come criticism, it's only natural. Has nothing to do with picking on anyone. You don't think people won't be critical of Manual after that lost to Montgomery Co.? You don't think people were critical of LCA earlier in the year before their recent string of success? I would bet some people were surprised with NCC playing LCA so tough in the All "A" but I saw them at the Lex. Cath. tournament and they can be physical and are well coach. So to my point, some teams improve, some teams fall off as expectations change throughout a long season. Rowan Co. was having a great race and then had a flat tire, can they fix that flat or do they stay stuck out on the road? It will be interesting how they respond on Friday against Montgomery Co. because that is potentially another matchup problem game for them.:idunno:

Montgomery Co. matches up a little better defensively than did Rowan Co. so I don't think the looks on the perimeter will be the same, or at least they weren't the first time these two teams met up. Martin got into early foul trouble in the first game and the role players for LCA did't come through in the clutch for LCA as Montgomery Co. got contributions from all around. It will be interesting nonetheless as these two teams are playing excellent ball right now. It will be interesting if this will be a physical game or not because of bench play and Montgomery Co. overall size. Can't wait to see this one, again!

Rowan Co. didn't match up with the Big 3 and couldn't turn LCA over thus the big margin. Rowan Co. has to create turnovers and get in transition to manufacture points a lot of times and in half court they had to rely on the perimiter shot because they couldn't get anything inside because of the bigger more physical LCA. Yea, LCA shot the ball well but Rowan did know how to defend, they went to a zone at one point it was like target practice for Martin and Clifton, it was like they took it as an insult!:ohbrother:

All views and opinions are subjective and on any given night a team can pull a surprise but there are only a few teams in my mind that can put together a 4 game stretch at Diddle to take home the title. Usually the Louisville and Lexington region representatives have the edge because of the level of competition they see during the year. It's no fault of Rowan Co. that the competion within the region is what it is but they just have needed to test themselves more outside of the region more. I went and looked at a team like Montgomery Co. and they have only played the teams in their district so far and no one else in their region. I'm assuming that is by design because their aren't any teams in the 10th that are condsider to be contenders on the state scene. It would probably be a detriment and a fasle sense of security and I'm afraid that is what might happen to Rowan Co. A great season nonetheless to all the Lady Vikings fans and all you can do is keep playing the games in front of you.

Declarations are fact based! Rowan Co. biggest win was against Manual at home. A great win no doubt regardless if they played them on the moon or anywhere's else. The Notre Dame and Boone Co. wins were good and on the road but those teams were not at full strength at the time. Now, as for competition in region, Elliott Co. is probably considered along with Ashland as possible top contenders and but are not top 25 caliber teams. So that being said, Rowan Co. is an excellent team but not in the discussion with the top 10 teams in the state from what I've seen of the teams in the state. Iroquois, Christian Academy of Louisville, Montgomery Co., E-town, Mercy, Sacred Heart, Lex. Christian, Manual, N. Hardin, Franklin-Simpson, Henderson Co. are teams that have been tested numerous times that have proven themselves. Rowan Co. is probably on that next tier with teams like Notre Dame, New Cath., Bowling Green, Marshall Co., Butler, Lafayette, Simon Kenton, Rockcastle Co., Lincoln Co., Marion Co., Webster Co. and Christian Co. Not a bad group to be in but I think that a lot of fans where getting ahead of themselves with such lofty praise. Take it for what it's worth and prove me and those other doubters wrong but I've seen a lot of basketball this season and it's gonna be hard for Rowan Co. without size to win against some of those I mentioned in the first group because of personnel. I wish all teams the best in their quest for the title but I try to remain realistic too!:popcorn:

Montgomery Co. walked away in this one tonight by 20+. Turnovers plagued Manual. Montgomery Co. dominated throughout this one in a surprise.:notworthy:

Rowan Co. showed to be a victim of their enviornment. Not much competition in region and they don't match up with teams with size and don't turn the ball over. They were out classed in this matchup for sure. Outstanding performance by Martin and Clifton. These 2 teams could play 10 times and don't think Rowan Co. could beat them. May not be the same margin but I just don't think they could beat them in my opinion! It was over early.:deadhorse:

It's not that Montgomery Co. can't be beat, I'm just arguing the idea that Campbell Co. is a top 3 team in the region. IMO, the 3 top teams in the region are still out of the 40th District. It's gonna take defense to beat Montgomery Co. and the only ones capable of coming close are Clark Co and Paris. Now that being said, only 2 of the 3 teams will make it to the region and I don't think Campbell Co. could beat Clark Co. or Paris just because of the defensive element and the fact that Clark Co. and Paris have challenged themselves more with their schedules. That's the point I'm making. The initial post was saying what a nice win Campbell Co. had over Harrison Co. Now in years past that may have been a barometer but not this year even though both teams are likely to be in the 10 Region tournament. That's all I'm saying! Just being a realist!:popcorn:

Exactly!!!!!! They've lost by double digits to the 2 best teams they've played! It's hard to get better or to challenge yourself when you haven't seen it all season. That's why Montgomery Co. has dominated the region tournament in years, Mason Co. and Paris was it's only rival because they would go out and make themselves better by playing the best in the state. Montgomery Co. can beat you in a variety of ways, offensively, defensively, up tempo, slow it down they've got a lot of pieces. They are a fun team to watch. They've got two players coming off the bench that would start on the rest of the teams in the 10th. I mean, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but when evaluating teams you have to look comparitively. Next year, we maybe talking about St. Pat., Mason Co., Scott High or Clark Co. at this time next year because Montgomery loses so much but they still will have Jehlik and Garland and some talented underclassmen.

Seriously, who has Campbell Co. beat? I'm just trying to be a realist here! Clark Co. and Paris are the next 2 best teams after Montgomery Co. and I say that because of whom they have played. The 40th District has the 3 best teams in the 10th. Now can anybody be beaten on any night? Certainly, but Montgomery Co. is probably 20pts. better than the next best team. I've had a chance to see most all better teams in the 10th play this year and it's not even close unless Montgomery just plays uninspired. :ohbrother:

Make that, Montgomery Co. will have played 9 of these teams and possibly more by seasons end depending upon the LIT. Manual Rowan Co. Christian Academy of Louisville Lex. Christian Butler N. Laurel Mercy Dunbar Highlands They possibly could play some of these teams and has beat the top 3(LCA,Lafayette and Dunbar) teams in the 11th region. That's one heck of a resume, hopefully they can keep up the intensity the remainder of what is a grueling schedule. If there where a total strenth of schedule rankings then Montgomery Co. would have to be at the top to this point one would think? 5-1 against teams in this poll with the lone loss being against CAL. :ylsuper:

Montgomery Co. won by like 15 I believe. Sounded like a well rounded offensive game and Montgomery Co. defense is better than what I think a lot of people think. They are very long!

Great tournament last year, looking forward to seeing some great action again this weekend. :thumb:

My sentiments exactly ebrown! Looks like you're being objective and basing your opinions on actually seeing Montgomery Co. against real quality teams. Nothing against Clark, Scott and the rest but until they can go on the big stage and consistently prove that they can compete it's hard to say anything against Montgomery Co. as favorites in the district and region. Clark went to the Lex. Cath. tourney and got bounced around like rag dolls with what was probably a better team than what they have this year. Scott, Campbell, St. Pat., Bracken Co. all have yet to prove themselves against anyone but themselves. If anything, within the Region Paris is the team that year in and year out has given Montgomery Co. problems because they arguably have the best coach if not top 3 in the region and has prepared to play good defense. As for Otis44 comments about Lea Prewitt coaching Montgomery Co. is a slap in the face to Coach Robinson and her staff. Little you may know Otis, Lea Prewitt has been instrumental in the program for years, yea, even when Mike Kindred was there. Does she have more access most certainly but she has always helped scout and offer suggestions to coaching staffs in the past.

Yep, that was a huge change to the offense! Lee got to roam again and looked unstoppable. Thompson did a good job and still got her looks at the rim. What a nice wrinkle added by the Montgomery Co. staff, continually looking at ways to make the team better.:dancingpa

A great athletic talent is Jewell Rogers, but what has she ever done to allow GRC a chance against Montgomery Co. IMO, GRC is a better team without her, I think a big part of GRC's problem over the years is thinking that she is saviour when she has done nothing but continue to get herself into trouble and be a "me" player. Shame on the coaching staff and administration for sending the wrong message to a young girl that obviously needs to get herself in order off the court and maybe then she will live up to her God given athletic abilities. Montgomery's team concept over the years is why they've always won championships. I hate to make it sound like I'm picking on the young lady but the proofs in the pudding. She needs to grow up and someone in her inner circle needs to get that across to her or she should be removed from the team permanently they go through this every year.

Did anyone notice what Montgomery Co. has done this week to some of the best teams in the state? To even suggest that someone else in the region is better is making a mockery. Grant it Clark Co. played them close last week but how many times can they hope Montgomery Co. is gonna shoot 24 percent from the field? I'm sorry, there is a great separation from Montgomery Co. and the rest of the 10th Region right now! :flame:

10th Region beware, the giant has awoke! If they play like this the rest of the way, no one in the 10th will be within 12pts. of them the rest of the season!

Clay Co. didn't match up well with CAL. I think you will see some interesting match ups in this game tomorrow! This will be huge for either team, Montgomery Co. may have a little more quality coming off the bench but Slaughter will be the best talent on the floor. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out!

Montgomery Co. played tremendous defense down the strecth not allowing LCA's "Big 3" beat them. It was reminicent of their battles in the past with Mason Co. making role players step. On the other hand Mont. Co. was really balanced with different players making plays throughout, once again showing their depth. I don't know how the program keeps doing it. Huge game again for the Lady Indians tomorrow agains Christian Academy of Louisville.

Tibbs is an excellent player but Montgomery Co. has the size to neutralize her, the match up if those two were to play would be at the guard position were Montgomery Co. has Mackenzie Lee. I think you definitely would have to give the edge to Montgomery Co. based upon that and the fact that Montgomery Co. has played in so many big games, it would be something new to Scott High should it get to that point!

Does Jewell Rogers really make them a better team? I pose that question because it seems she gets suspended every year. Why is that? Is the coach to tolerant of her behavior just because she is a great athlete and not taking into account that when she gets in trouble at school she is letting down her team mates! This has been the story of her career, great talent but is all about herself, or so it seems. That is why the better programs in the 10th over the past few years have had success, they play as a team and no one individual is bigger! That's my thoughts on the matter. She hasn't learned from past mistakes why will she now?
