Funny...i saw him last week and was 6' 61/2" with shoes. Evidentally Steve Wright had him stretch over the summer to intimidate and now he is back to normal. Matthew lives close to Corbin and we wish him nothing but the best...except when he plays against Corbin.

Winning games puts fans in the stands. Until this year, the past few seasons...especially the previous 2, have been nothing to cheer about. The Basketball team has enjoyed a wave of new interest and success because it has been winning consistently. If the football coaches were a little more flexible and a little nicer, there are several kids playing basketball that could be playing (and helping) the football hounds. The kids almost have to choose football or basketball nowadays due to practice demands of the football coaches and it seems that the kids with size are all choosing to play basketball. There are 8 or more kids who are 6'3"+ that are not playing football but are playing basketball. At least that is my observation.

This season, look for the Hounds to play in the "Nissan on Nicholasville Tournament" that will be held at Lexington Catholic, the Holiday "Hoopin it up" tournament at South Laurel, Bank of Corbin Classic at Corbin, and its own "Cumberland Falls Invitational". There will be many Lexington area teams as well as out of State Teams participating in these tournaments. These tournament games will no doubt make the Hounds better in March, win lose or draw.

Id say to hope that Hammonds, Smith and Profit can repeat their senior seasons. Otherwise, SL may have to take their licks this year from Corbin and others.

Since Corbin and Lexington Christian have began playing each other in football, maybe they will play each other in basketball too. I believe it would be a very competitive game as both teams are well coached and both have very good talent.

It has to be future Heisman winner, Roman Mitchell from Corbin. He's only a Freshman but he's gonna be da man.

Ryan was mentioned in the post above by Fastbreak already. No doubt Ryan is a special player. He has good genes too...his dad was a former Mr Basketball in KY and played D1 baseball at Auburn University. Ryan's little brother Jordan, is gonna follow his brother and dad's footsteps too. Several of the players on the Fastbreak list have played together on AAU teams or have been around each other since the 3rd grade while participating at various tournaments. I hope to get to see all of them one day at RUPP competing for a state championship.

Its conceivable that Corbin could have a Freshman/JV line up of some tall timber this fall. 6'7" Kimball, 6'6" John new kid, 6"5" Hopkins,6'4" Stewart, Craig 6'4" + some little but quick guards. Coach McDaniel will have them ready. 1 or 2 of the above may even make the varsity squad if they demonstrate early on that they can help the team.

I agree. I just hope we dont end up having to play another 13th region team. We'll see enough of those during the season and post season.

Corbin will be one of the 3 teams to beat in the 13th. CHS needs its young players to step up and make the older players work hard in practice. This will translate to some varsity time for the young players who can do that. CHS has a couple of 6'7" kids that needs to get stronger and work on defensive skills so that they can help the team later in the year...especially at tournament time. No worries...the coaches will take care of this. The young guards need to work on ball handling skills and getting off their shots while being defended so that they will be ready to step up when the oppurtunity arrises. The 2-4 spots need to get stronger and work on ball handling and shooting. Looks like a fun year upcoming. Hopefully the young guys will work hard in freshman and jv games in order to prepare themselves for some potential varsity minutes. This is where the varsity minutes are earned.

Thats a good analysis...We could always use a great shooting guard that can run the point too. If you see one, send him our way. Wait a minute...I bet you already know one!

Hopefully the new kid will be able to pick up some skills quickly and allow CHS to have 2 big men on the floor alot. This should help the rebounding and defense alot. The new kid will really help balance out the Freshman team as they were loaded with guards.

Corbin now has 6'5" and a 6'7" freshmen for this Fall who can dunk. They also are loaded with guards that resemble a swarm of bees. There are not many "tweeners" though. Coach McDaniels and Pietrowski will have them all ready to go this Fall.

The E Town kid seems to have good defensive skills and has good size at approx. 6'3. Josh Crawford is rehabing very well and expects to be tearing down rims this Fall.

Truthfully, I cant think of any. I guess if a freshmen is making an impact, his team aint going far.

You are correct! What Coach P is guilty of...turning Corbin into a basketball school too. Aaron and other incoming freshmen and sophmores have gotten used to traveling to Florida during XMAS to play/vacation, AAU Tourneys, and having a chance to play at the Sweet 16. You gotta admit that playing inside for about 9 months then taking a break and playing a little golf for 3 months is pretty nice. Expectations are greater for the Redhound Basketball program now than for the Football program.

Thanks Bubba, Cashen will probably will have a spot if he wants it on varsity, Id say that Watkins will play JV ball and Madon would have to play Varsity because of his age/ grade but with the younger, more skilled players needing a spot it will be tough for Madon to play. Coach P will have a deeper bench this season than he has had before and will have his hands full trying to get enough minutes for everyone but competition for spots is a great problem to have.

IMO it will be Wilson, Johnson, Barley, Smith and J. Crawford to start. Manns, L.Crawford, Cashen, Craig, Rogers, and a Freshman or two off of the bench. Any transfers are simply a rumor at this point. There are a couple of transfers who are freshmen to be players but none that will see any varsity time any time soon.

Josh would be a great D1 2 guard or small forward who can get to the rim anytime as well as defend a taller man because of his strength. Coach Pietrowski and his staff will continue to help Josh with his overall game, especially outside shooting over the next 2 seasons. Joshs' only problem is that he is too nice...maybe they'll start slipping in some gunpowder with his meals before a game...then he'll start tearing the rim down instead of just tickling it.

Definitely no acl problems...a scope procedure is needed to stop reoccurring inflamation around a nerve area. Crawford will be ready to go before the 07-08 season begins due to his "off the chain" workouts in the weight room. BTW, Josh will look good in KY blue in a couple of years. Yep, you heard it here first!

Im just saying that one could pick a few of the 13th region JV players, put them in the same school and have one heck of a team. The 3 or 4 schools that Im thinking of combined would be smaller than Scott Co. Its all hypothetical man.

I know one thing for sure...someone could put together the finest JV Team ever with the talent in the 13th region. If some of these talented young players were blended together, they would surely be THE team to beat in Rupp and leave the Lex Cath's, Scott Co's, and etc in awe! :jump:

Knox will lose in a rout...South by 20+ after subbing heavily late in the game. Knox needs to remember that this is the last year (at least for the next 5 or 6) that South will be dominant. South will struggle to maintain a winning record the next few years, IMO and Knox will steadily improve to compete with Corbin and Clay for the region title over the next 4 or 5 years.
