50th District?

Featured Replies

Well with another season gettin ready to start and some summer games played who looks to the the top teams and players in the 50th district. Who will have a breakout season, does the underdog have a chance, how will south look without the BIG 3. So many questions left unanswered???

Corbin has to be considered the team to beat and South will follow with Whitley and W'burg trailing.

Corbin will be solid, but so will South. The Cards have Billy Jones back and he'll be a big plus along with Zach Smith, Gilbert, St. John and Co.

I agree that Corbin is holding the #1 spot. But as far as South goes Im going to put them down at #3, with Whitley #2, then Williamsburg coming in at #4. I think that Corbin and Whitley will be a dog fight this year. Whitley has played over 30 games this summin with a 22-9 record. Thats pretty impressive if you ask me. I talked to one of the assistant coaches and he told me they beat Hazard earlier today by 20. I guess we'll just have to see how it playes out in the 50th District.

I watched Whitley play at the Cumberland Camp...they are still struggling in alot of areas. I can't see them running neck to neck with Corbin at any point during the season.

I don't see them running neck to neck with Corbin ... or even South Laurel. There's a HUGE difference from summer ball and the regular season.

How is Josh Crawford's kneew doing?? I had heard he was having some ACL problems.

Definitely no acl problems...a scope procedure is needed to stop reoccurring inflamation around a nerve area. Crawford will be ready to go before the 07-08 season begins due to his "off the chain" workouts in the weight room. BTW, Josh will look good in KY blue in a couple of years. Yep, you heard it here first!

That would be great. It would be good to see a local boy do well.

Ky blue would be awsome for Josh, what position could he play at the next level? IMO he really needs to improve his outside shot, but he sure has the body for D1.

I would say that an athlete is an athlete. If Charles Barkley can play as well as he did in the NBA at 6'5. Then I say take the best player regardless of height. You can not measure the size of the heart.

1. Corbin

2. South Laurel

3. Whitley

4. Williamsburg

Corbin should be the best team in the 50th this year, they will have strength and a solid offensive and defensive teams with good floor leadership. Coach Petrowski has matured into an excellant game coach.

South will struggle without the leadership of Profitt and Company for while but they will develop into a good team as the season goes on.

Whitley will continue to improve but won't challenge this year.

Williamsburg will be a better team and win some games.

All in all I look for the 50th to be overall one of the better districts in the region this year.

Josh would be a great D1 2 guard or small forward who can get to the rim anytime as well as defend a taller man because of his strength. Coach Pietrowski and his staff will continue to help Josh with his overall game, especially outside shooting over the next 2 seasons. Joshs' only problem is that he is too nice...maybe they'll start slipping in some gunpowder with his meals before a game...then he'll start tearing the rim down instead of just tickling it.

I agree he would be a very strong 2 guard, nothing wrong with being nice and he sure is that, no need to tear down the rim just get the points.
