Games start at 4:00. To an earlier post, Scott High does have a nice post player who will be a freshman. She has a nice shooting touch. She will be one to keep your eye on for the next 4 years.

Hot was an understatement, but the tempers seemed to stay in check. I watched W'town play Scott High and Grant Co. Scott won by I believe 4 points. Both coaches did a good job substituting freely until about the last 3-4 minutes. From there both teams had their best players on the floor. W'town had some chances, but turned it over late and couldn't score. Grant Co. beat W'town by 15 or so. Coach Wilhoit played all 9 players he took, but Grant played only 7. The only time the other 2 got off of the bench was to shake hands at the end. Grant's press hurt W'town's reserves causing multiple t/o's. During that time, they built their lead up from 7 to around 15. Also, W'town had too many reach in fouls while Grant was shooting. Coach Wilhoit was not happy about that. Give Grant credit, they hit their FT's though. Talking with Coach Wilhoit after the game, he was pleased with the play of West and especially of his daughter, Tori. If she had gotten her dad's height, she would be hard to handle as a freshman. I thought she played extremely hard for both games.

Grant County and Beechwood round out the camp. Looks to be some pretty good games on slate this week. Coach Stamm does a good job with the camp. Curious to see how Grant Co. looks with a different coach. Coach Richey did a tremendous job while he was there. Maybe Coach Wilhoit from Williamstown can persuade him to come over to W'town to help out some!!!

Does anyone know who will be participating in the Ludlow Team Camp this week? I know that Williamstown will be there.

IMO, if the coach only played 6 players and did not play the 3 sophs to be, he was trying to win the game and didn't care about seeing what he would have for next year. Summer is about building your team for the upcoming season. Sometime throughtout next season, he may have to rely on one of those sophs to help GC. JV ball and Varsity ball is two totally different animals and with the kids not getting any PT this summer will hurt, not help.

Walton is playing in the JV and Middle School divisions. They had some of their upper classmen who could not make it, so they went the JV route. Williamstown is playing in the varsity only. Other area teams in the camp (in the Varsity Division) are Eminence, Trimble Co., Spencer Co.and Pendleton Co. Others include Paris, Scott Co., Sayre, Belfrey, Betsy Layne and Male. Talking to Coach Wilhoit from WIlliamstown, his girls really like the camp. They will play around 10-12 games in the camp. So far, he has been pretty satisfied with his team's play. I also have watched Trimble play a little. Miller is not there due to an ankle injury. Belfrey has impressed me. Very athletic and are fundamentally sound.

Any updates to games at the Thomas More Camp? Also, any information about the camp at Georgetown?

If Carroll can get points off of their defense, then yes they can be pretty good. I watched them shoot blanks in the regional tournament which put a doubt in my mind about a half court set. I am sure Coach Mefford will have them ready once the season starts though. I like the Curry girl. I think she plays hard at all times and looks like she is having fun on the court. If she can get 2 or 3 more inches on her frame, she can be a presence. As an 8th grader, I think she ranks close to Wilhoit and West from Williamstown and Brooke Hill from Gallatin. There is some pretty good talent at that level.

Congratulation to Ms. Billiter. I hope everything works out. As to the rumor of Coach Richey to Williamstown, I have heard that Coach Wilhoit is working on a assistant coaching change or two. I heard the rumor that one of them would be a shock to a lot of people, but do not have a name of who it would be. He and Coach Richey are great friends, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I have heard Coach Wilhoit say more than once it would be nice to coach along side of Coach Richey.

I would say that both GC and Willamstown are happy. The winner of their game is almost assured (nothing is for sure other than death and taxes) a spot in the finals. Coach Wilhoit returns everyone from his team and has to be excited with the draw. Word has it that Stith, West and Wilhoit are playing well in the open gyms and on their AAU teams. Also 7th grader to be, Courtney Sandlin is around 5'10" now and still growing. She had a career high of 15 points against Carroll Co. this past season as a 6th grader.

On the Girl's side, Coach Roberts from Gallatin and Coach Wilhoit from Williamstown have to be smiling. The winner is almost certain to be playing in the finals. In a one game playoff, anything is possible. If Trimble has anyone to get Miller the ball and develop a consistant outside shooter, they could be very dangerous. None of the teams have the size to compete against her. On the Boy's side, I would say it would Gallatin Co's 1st five, Gallatin Co's 2nd five, then everyone else. Should be Gallatin and Carroll in the finals.

Don't forget about Williamstown. They return everyone. I think Coach Wilhoit's youngsters will grow up over the summer and could be one of the most improved teams around. If Wilhoit and West continue to improve their game as freshmen (not as middle school starters next season) and Stith continue to improve, this team could be dangerous. I agree with Lunatic, if everyone returns to Walton, they should be first in the NCKC with Owen close behind them. From there it can be anyone.

I will personally make sure Coach Wilhoit gets this. I am positive he will address the situation with those involved. He should be able to pick up what was said on the game film. This incident is not indictative of Coach Wilhoit or his Lady Demons. Good luck to all in the districts.

Seniors do what seniors are supposed to do, especially on senior night. I think the 3 seniors combined for 36 of the 58 points in the win. Congratulations to all 3.

Nice post Buttels. I will make sure Coach Wilhoit gets this. I am sure he will address it with the fans of his team. That is one thing he does not go far, but it is hard for him to control. Sometimes people have a hard time distinguishing between phyisical basketball and dirty play. Gallatin plays very physical. That is one of their strengths. At W'town's last practice that was addressed. He challenged his team not to back down. I thought they did that pretty well. I am sure Coach Wilhoit would like to have a couple of players as physical as Buttleswerth or Wood. He has them coming, but they are a year or two away. Nice job by #10 and Foster also by knocking down those big 3's. W'town's game plan was good up to that point, but they did not rotate well enough defensively to contest the shots. They did hold Gallatin to 4 field goals for the 1st half, but Gallatin did a good job of knocking down their FT's. For the game they were something like 26 of 38 while W'town was 13 of 31. To me that was the difference in the game. As far as Coach Wilhoit's daughter not scoring. It is hard to score when you are on the bench in foul trouble. That has been her bugaboo all year. I would be amazed if she had played a total of 10 minutes in the game. Too many silly fouls. She will be a nice player for W'town as well as fellow 8th grader Chelsea West. Both will get four more years of varsity time before they get to her senior night.

I too was in attendance last night. I do not recall Mr. Gregg (the band director) hitting any shots to help W'town win though!! Thanks for the positive coments about the pep band. I will pass it along to them. They are a great addition to the atmosphere of the game. To me, the game was decided by who is supposed to decide games... the teams. W'town made the plays when they needed to and sealed the win by knocking down FT's late. Nice win for Coach Mefford and the boys.
