Gallatin Co. 58 Williamstown 43

Featured Replies

A great win that will give the Lady Wildcats a winning season regardless of how they do at Henry County.

Now.........on to the soap box. There was a thread about the Williamstown boys winning their first game of the year last week. In that thread, it mentioned that there were some fans from the other team that complained that the pep band caused the defeat.

How that relates to the game on Saturday was all of the Williamstown fans that were behind me commenting on how my daughter plays ball. Not just my daughter but all of the Lady Wildcats. And not in a positive manner and on their senior night of all nights. It's amazing what an effects mic can pick up. That's right it's on tape. Do we need to bring up what had happened to two of our Lady Wildcats at their hands this year. I'm sorry, make it 3 as our 8th grade forward went down last night. I am not going to post the comments of these "fans", because my daughter does read this board.

At one point, the guy making all of the references did catch the attention of one of the referees and after making the second derogatory comment toward him, I thought he was going to get tossed and probably should have. Believe me, I'm no saint and there is no zipper on my mouth either, but that was ridiculous.

You didn't see the Gallatin County fans making note that the coaches daughter didn't score at all. Just one word.

CLASSLESS

Now, stats of the game

Williamstown - 11 9 9 14 - 43

Gallatin Co. 58

Amanda Buttelwerth - 15 points

Taylor Wood - 14 points

Rachel Eilerman - 10 points

Megan Foster - 7 points

Ashley Jones - 7 points

Caroline Huddleston - 2 points

Williamstown 43

Jaclyn Stith - 12 points

Chelsea West - 9 points

Julie Knarr - 8 points

Amber Vance - 5 points

Courtney Sandlin - 5 points

Taylor Eldridge - 4 points

Rachel Eilerman led the third quarter charge with three 3 pointers and Megan Foster added another one to outscore Williamstown 23-9 and take the lead for good. Congratulations to Coach Roberts on a winning season in her first year.

The Williamstown team is young and talented. As they grow, they will become a contender in their district and the region. They don't need fans like the gentleman at the top of the bleachers. Coach Wilhoit does a nice job. I don't think he needs another assistant.

Somebody else can have a turn on the soap box.

Sorry to hear that on Senior night, I do not mind jabbing at the refs or yelling for your own team, but we should all draw the line at heckling or putting down the other teams players.

They are kids after all, and all of them work hard, CC has had a lot of this this year directed at our Senior, and I think it is classless also. Usually it is not the kids on the floor they seem to respect and like each other.

It seems to be the fans...maybe they should take a lesson from the girls on the floor.

Nice post Buttels. I will make sure Coach Wilhoit gets this. I am sure he will address it with the fans of his team. That is one thing he does not go far, but it is hard for him to control. Sometimes people have a hard time distinguishing between phyisical basketball and dirty play. Gallatin plays very physical. That is one of their strengths. At W'town's last practice that was addressed. He challenged his team not to back down. I thought they did that pretty well. I am sure Coach Wilhoit would like to have a couple of players as physical as Buttleswerth or Wood. He has them coming, but they are a year or two away.

Nice job by #10 and Foster also by knocking down those big 3's. W'town's game plan was good up to that point, but they did not rotate well enough defensively to contest the shots. They did hold Gallatin to 4 field goals for the 1st half, but Gallatin did a good job of knocking down their FT's. For the game they were something like 26 of 38 while W'town was 13 of 31. To me that was the difference in the game.

As far as Coach Wilhoit's daughter not scoring. It is hard to score when you are on the bench in foul trouble. That has been her bugaboo all year. I would be amazed if she had played a total of 10 minutes in the game. Too many silly fouls. She will be a nice player for W'town as well as fellow 8th grader Chelsea West. Both will get four more years of varsity time before they get to her senior night.

Know EXACTLY which fan Buttels is talking about at the top of the stands. I agree with 1734 regarding the inability for some to distinguish btw physical & dirty play. It seems that some folks have a hard time with that, especially regarding girls basketballl & even more so when involving a program with such young players playing Varsity ball.

It looks like from the numbers that it was an exciting game in the first half. Congrats to both & good luck in district play. Nice to see that Buttelwerth was back on the court!

Seniors do what seniors are supposed to do, especially on senior night. I think the 3 seniors combined for 36 of the 58 points in the win. Congratulations to all 3.

Well, you better enjoy beating them now because I think that Coach W @ Willy town will have the Demon Dome (as their announcer calls it) rocking in a couple of years, maybe even as soon as after X-mas next year. He gets as much out of his kids as anyone could, maybe John Wooden could do a little better but I don’t know. How many teams would have equal success if they started 2 8th graders, a freshman, Soph, and 6th grader? I know he plays a Jr a lot but I'm not sure if she still starts. Oh, and don’t forget they lost their top two players over the last couple of years due to transferring, which I think one would be a Soph and one a Junior.

Welcome to the site, AllKnower.

I think that everyone on this thread has been very complimentary of Coach Wilhoite and the Lady Demons.

also welcome to the site 1734 :thumb:

I agree TB&G

It is classless and uncalled for. I would not like it if our fans did it to the Demons, the Wildcats or the Lady Raiders. It is not the right way to be a fan..

Allknower: Make sure that you understand the post before you respond unfairly to the people on the thread.

I know the Boys have had the same sort of thing recently at Walton and South Oldham. It takes a big person to yell at a high school kid who may or may not be playing in their last high school game.

BIG MAN!!:thumb:

I can't say anymore about this as I will probably be suspended.

I'll leave it at this. As other fans were sitting around him, tell him to shut up. It's just a high school game. Why ruin a night like this for these girls.

Enough said

I will personally make sure Coach Wilhoit gets this. I am positive he will address the situation with those involved. He should be able to pick up what was said on the game film. This incident is not indictative of Coach Wilhoit or his Lady Demons. Good luck to all in the districts.
