  1. Any thoughts? If Walton can handle NCC pressure should make for a good game. Could be a preview of the 2nd round in Richmond, but of course both teams will have to win their 1st round games.
  2. I totally agree - wide open. It should make for an exciting tournament.

  5. Murray will not be there. According to the KHSAA scoreboard Ballard Memorial defeated them in the 1st region finals.
  6. Just being a Junior she is going to turn a lot of heads in the next couple of years. I know she scored 29 points tonight, but I really enjoyed watching her play on the defensive end - I'm sure the Walton players did not.
  7. Walton played pretty well at times. Grant County has improved a lot from the 1st time I watched them play this year.
  8. The ref was not someone's uncle, at least not on Walton's team, but you are correct he missed the call the ball was clearly out of bounds. It is a mute point if South converts their free throws at the end. If you have not had a chance to watch Whitfield play this year - wow what a player. Not just offensively, but the havoc she creates on defense is incredible. Crazy ending with two very questionable intentional foul calls, one on Walton and one on South. I don't think winning or losing this game gives either team an advantage. If they were to meet again it should be a classic. Very impressed with South and especially Whitfield.
  9. Congrats to Owen on a very solid road win. Heard Owen's zone really hurt Anderson.
  10. ND was a very quality win. The pandas did not play well when they played Walton - don't let that fool you.
  11. I think Walton had a little bit of a let down from the class "A". But, Highlands made some very big plays. The game was back and forth for most of the game. Walton lead by 1 at half and the final score was the largest lead of the game. Schaeffer was a difference maker tonight. She hit some very big shots plus blocked at least two 3 point shots that would of been big if made. Walton did have an open 3 for a tie with about 30 seconds left, and then had to start fouling. Very impressed with Schaeffer and Conner for Highlands.
  12. Very nice win for Williamstown. Coach Wilhoite does a great job. Williamstown played really solid defense all night and Chelsea West was very aggressive on offense making some big shots. Game had a lot of fouls with Williamstown's Wilhoite and Owen County's Gayheart setting a lot of the 1st half. Everytime Owen mada a run Williamstown answered.
  13. Coach Mefford had his team prepared and they battled the Bearcats to the very end. Good job by Walton to hold on and get the win. Walton will play Williamstown on Saturday night in the finals.
  14. Final from Crestwood. South Oldham 55 Walton-Verona 52 Walton-Verona 13 14 12 13 52 South Oldham 14 11 15 15 55 Walton-Verona -- Schmitt 7, Moeves 8, Hargett 13, McNeil 14, Lynn 4, Monday 6. South Oldham (12-2) -- Blair 5, Bullock 3, Fields 9, Martin 11, Sherry 6, Kenny 2, Goodlett 7, Pendleton 3, Catina 9.
  15. The All A tournament at Walton has been cancelled for tonight. Games are scheduled for Thursday night. Thursday 6:00 Walton-Verona vs Gallatin County 7:30 Carroll County vs Eminence Friday - not sure of times Owen County vs Williamstown Winners of Thursday games Saturday - Finals
  16. http://www.kentucky.com/2011/01/10/1593380/high-school-basketball-rating.html#more Here is the link to the new Cantrell ratings from the Herald Leader. I believe the rankings above are from maxpreps.
  17. Both students sections are very supportive of their teams. Last year, during the district finals at Walton, SK got a little personal with some signs and posters. This year during the 1st contest at SK the Walton student section got a little personal with some signs, and I believe some individuals were escorted out. I believe the administration just wanted to avoid any other problems. Both team's student sections cheered loud and were very supportive of their teams and it was great to see.
