  1. Dan Connor , Linebacker at Penn State broke Posluzny's school tackling record during the Purdue game. IMO, he's had a great year and a great career at PSU.
  2. It kills me to say this , but realistically Woodson, as of now, is out of the Heisman race while Dixon is definitely in the top 3 (if not the frontrunner). I think the best that UK fans can hope for is that UK runs the table in its final 3 regular season games and that Woodson puts up some great stats. If this happens, Woodson could still get an invite to New York, but I don't think he has a chance to win it. Just my opinion though....
  3. After watching Arkansas against USC and against UK, I am sold on his Heisman candidacy. Frankly, the backfield tandem of Jones and McFadden is the best I've seen all year. IMO, makes the UK win at Arkansas even more impressive.
  4. This might be a little nit picky but I'm just curious how you can have Purdue and Wisconsin in the top 25 and leave out Penn State. Penn State has beaten both of these teams and has identical records (7-3) Also Penn State has a better conference record than both teams (Wisconsin and Purdue are 3-3 while Penn State is 4-3) Again, not a big deal but you obviously are a Big 10 fan - just curious as to your reasoning :thumb:
  5. I believe that both Ohio State and Michigan would be very competitive in the SEC, but I also believe that both would have at least 2 losses if they were in this league. Regarding the SEC its not so much about playing a stong individual team on a given weekend, its about the cumulative effect of playing a string of tough SEC teams week in and week out. This can wear down any quality team. We have already seen how potentially top 25 SEC teams are being affected by fatigue (ie... South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, etc...) Bottom line - the top tier Big 10 teams can definitely hold their own against the top SEC teams, but the middle and lower rung teams of the Big 10 would struggle against the level teams in the SEC (IMO).
  6. I've been very impressed with WVU the last few games. They seem to be hitting their stride at just the right time. Actually I'm a little surprised that they didn't move up more in this week's polls. Being at WVU is a major factor. I see WVU taking this one by 17 points.
  7. I believe that UK will win by a touchdown, but anyone who predicts a UK blowout has not been watching college football this season. No win, especially in the SEC, is guaranteed.
  8. The same was said about the LSU game after UK lost to the Gamecocks. Hey, in the SEC anything can happen. A lot of people had doubts about TN and GA also.
  9. I agree that UK did not play very well yesterday, but ANYBODY (and I mean ANYBODY) can pull an upset in the SEC East this year (as has been shown numerous times-for example Miss St. also beat Auburn this year). UK played horrible against South Carolina also and bounced back to beat LSU and play Florida tough. I still believe that UK can win the last three. Will it be tough - no question! Can it be done - Sure (we beat LSU when no one thought we could). If people jump ship now, they are not a UK fan IMO (even if they say they have been one for 30 years) This loss and the bye week may shift the CATS up a notch as we come down the stretch. I say stay positive and keep the faith. I'm not quite ready to start the basketball season.
  10. I agree Doc. Year in and year out East and West are always in the mix. Should be an interesting year with no totally dominant teams in the region.
  11. I agree with you wholeheartedly - but just curious why you like West so much.
  12. Erika Webb for West did graduate. I don't believe her sister played basketball.
  13. I’ll put in my 2 cents… 1) East Carter-Coaching, talent, and experience 2) Ashland-Finally grown up, strong finish in last year’s regional tourney 3) West Carter-Good showing in summer, Stevens is impressive 4) Rowan-Would be in my top 3, but how will coaching change affect team? 5) Morgan-Darkhorse of region led by athletic Eagle 6) Raceland-Biggest question mark of the region due to status of Keeton and Vanderhoof 7) Russell-Huge losses to graduation, but Kidwell could have solid group by tourney time 8) Fleming-Injured point guard returns to lead talented group 9) Elliot-Made strides last year with under-rated talent 10) Lewis-Scrappy team led by Marth 11) Boyd-Faces major rebuilding process, but always plays hard 12) Menifee-Williams is the key 13) Greenup-Gibson and Sexton will be sorely missed 14) Bath-Without Wright, Bath will have tough time scoring 15) Fairview-Wins could be tough to get for second year coach 16) Rose Hill-Must replace 90% of scoring and rebounding
  14. Gee, talk about being touchy. It sounded like you felt that Kidwell deserved to go over all other area coaches. I was just curious why? As I stated last year, I have no favorite team or coach in the region. I could care less - let he best team go to state regardless of the coach. Talk about trying to make something out of nothing.....
  15. Why does Kidwell deserve a trip to Diddle before Bradley? Just curious? I personally think both coaches are deserving (along with several other 16th region coaches).
  16. With Kidwell as coach, Russell will always be in the mix, but I don't think that they are top 3. Russell has no true point guard and if Sparks is used at that position it will take away from her outside scoring, scoring that Russell will definitely need this year. Also Russell has no true inside threat, especially now that the freshman Okoro is no longer at Russell. If she had stayed, Russell would have been solid by the end of the year. Simpson will be good, but can she handle the added attention now that Fortman is gone? Only time will tell on this. If what I hear is correct, center Keeton at Raceland is also hurt and my not be back until December (someone let me know if this is incorrect info). With no standout guards, and Vanderhoof questionable, Raceland may have a tough season - but Trimble is a good coach and may be a factor by the end of the seaon, IF Vanderhoof and Keeton come back 100%. Rosehill will struggle mightily this season, and regardless of past achievements (which are definitely impressive), they will finish (IMO) in the last 3 of the Region.
  17. Is this also the same John High who was at Whitesburg High School a while ago?
  18. Prayers and best wishes to Coach Thomas - one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and a darn good coach!
  19. I also agree with goherd's picks- Kidwell, Easterling, Bradley and Thomas (in no particular order)
  20. Thanks for the info Picknroll. How did the Lady Lions fare at Shawnee (did they play any local teams)? Did Boyd attend any other camps this summer? Who looks to be in the running for Boyd's starting five in the upcoming season (names and grade if you know them). I usually hear a lot about Boyd during the summer, but this summer I haven't heard much info....
