Good game. Both teams started off slow. Gallatin had a 6 point lead at the half. Villa took the lead by the end of the third. Game was tied with a minute to go. Villa was forced to foul, and Gallatin hit their free throws down the stretch. Maddox had 24 for Gallatin. Bryan had 25 for Villa and Love had 18. Conner beat Lloyd by three. Lloyd missed a three at the buzzer. Only two games down, but already some good basketball being played. Should be a good tournement to watch this weekend!

It all depends on what Dayton team shows up.

The only problem is that it changes the way a coach handles the game as far as TV time outs. If it is on live, you have to give the sponsors credit. If that could be worked out, I think it is a great idea.

Congrats to coach shumate for his first varsity win. I'm sure he has many more in his future.

Good game to watch. I believe Housley led all scores with 24 points and added 13 rebounds. Darnell had 17. Love had twenty something for villa, not sure exactly. Newport kept going up by 15 or so, then villa kept coming back. I think they had it down to 6 with about thirty seconds to go. Darnell did recieve two technical fouls, one with about 10 seconds left. They were pretty weak technicals if you ask me. I don't know what everyone else thinks that was at the game. If the rule is the same as it used to be, I believe he has to sit out a game. It was a loud atmosphere at villa and was really a great game. Congrats to Newport on the win. Nice job to Villa as well for staying with them. Newport should give some of the bigger schools some problems this year. They are now 3-0. Very athletic and young bunch of players.

I know I didn't. Good job Dayton. I'm impressed.

Ludlow by 20. Thats right. Ill go that far. Dayton lost to scpa. Not one of their best games. Ludlow is a much better team. No offense to Dayton, they just lost a lot and are not playing with each other yet.

I changed my mind. I saw Newport play ludlow. Newport by 15+. Lloyd can not match all of Newports athleticism and size.

Dixie's assistant coach, Tim Shields, is the brother of Don Shields, Villa's coach. Could be why they are in the tournament this year. Should be some good games though.

Lloyd played bad against Ludlow and good against Villa. It was a difference in their shooting percentages. They had many oppertunities against tLudlow but could not finish plays. They were hitting against Villa, especially in the second half. I know nothing about Newport other than the fact they they are young. I would give the edge to Lloyd right now because of experience, buy who knows, thats why they play the game. This game is not until the 14th.

Has Dixie's 6'8 center improved at all? If so, does Conner have an answer for him?

Does Holy Cross have an inside game? Or, will they rely completely on their guards? Is Trimpe a big guy?

I did not attend either, but heard that it was kind of sloppy. From what i hear, both teams are better than they played in this one. There were many turnovers for both teams.

Great comeback for St. Henry. Looks like Faust got them straightened out real quick.

Good win for Dayton. I'm impressed. I did think they were going to have much this year. I don't care who you are playing 25 and 12 is solid for a sophmore.

He is really good. I saw them play St. Henry over the summer, and he is for real. No one is talking about him, because no one knows who he is...yet. I have a feeling, if he plays as good as I saw last summer, he could contend for DIII player of the year along with Alex Hall, and maybe one of the guards from Calvary. He adds a ton to an already decent Villa team. Good luck to those guys, they are due for some!

Any predictions? Lloyd has already played a game so that helps them, but I think Villa has way to much for them to handle. I say Villa by 15+.

Lex Cath is too much. Cov Cath will be fine in Northern Kentucky this year, but thats about it.

Any predictions for Friday night? How does Grant County look this year?

Silver Grove is way down. This is the first time in forever that they do not have a superstar. Judging from the box score, they don't have ten guys who can shoot the three this year either which is a huge change for them. Was this because of Brossart's defense? Anyone?

Overall, you could tell it was both teams first game. It was pretty sloppy and both teams are capable of much better basketball. Congrats to ludlow, they played well down the strech. Both teams should come out much better in their next matchups. I think both coaches are glad to get the first game jitters out of the way.
