  1. I heard a rumor that there might be an old chief brought back to indian nation. I hear that some higher ups would like to have Mike Kindred the successful girls coach from the 98 state runner-up team back? Thoughts.....
  2. There is no substitute for game experience. Put it into perspective, I practice my kids for 2 1/2 hours daily. I spend a lot of time teaching and shooting free throws and that sort of thing. But the truth is, a player can go for 24 minutes of a jv game and 32 minutes of a varsity game and be fine. If not their coach has not properly prepared his kids to play.

    SEC

The SEC is the powerhouse conference in the country. They have six teams in the top 25. I wonder if anybody has a breakdown of which conference has the most national championships. Start with bama and twelve!!
  4. Mr. Network, I would suggest one thing to your son once your family doctor clears him medically. As a former college player and now a coach, my advise would be to have him spend about the next two to three weeks attending all workouts and more or less going through the motions. Lots of light weight high rep workouts, lots of fluids (NO CAFFEINE- people especially kids forget that caffeine is a drug and while minorly harmful to your body it still is harmful especially to an athlete who uses more of the fluids in his body for exercise than the normal joe) and trying to stay active. You see, while he may be down for a period of about a month or so, how much bigger, faster, or stronger would he have been getting during that time?? Probably not much. If your son is 6'2 220 anyway, he is probably somewhere close to his high school athletic peak anyhow, it would serve his needs better as a player to mentally get back in the game so to speak then to physically get back into it. I dont know if he is a football or baseball, or basketball player, truth is, it really doesnt matter. What matters is that your son is healthy and that when he does perform, he can perform at his optimum level. Just an old player and coach talking though. Be sure that your physician and your family make the right decision for your son. Hope all is well with your son.
  5. If it were march I would say that it would be a really tight game, but because it is January, Scott by ten.
  6. Air Force over Kentucky. When is the last time that happened?
  7. Didnt know that they were that high. Congrats to the Mustangs
  8. I'm with the split. Then they can recruit each other to death? How would your program though?? Would not hurt mine, nobody would come knocking I would imagine. But the one time they did, it would destroy my program.
  9. Touchy subject from any angle. It becomes more touchy when people's pocket books are involved.
  10. Hmmmm? I am a fan of multi sport athletes. I have ran into this problem this year. My kids can no longer compete with programs who have football teams and established weight conditioning programs. They have just become too physically strong. I like that basketball in Ky has moved along in that direction. Good topic to discuss I think??
  11. Cats easily. Not so easy down the road in the sec however. I feel like the cats have a few relatively, and I use that word loosely, simple games at Ole Miss, Auburn, and Miss St. Then it starts getting a little tougher. Good schedule to try and grease the wheels in the SEC though. Go Cats.
  12. I completely agree. Its not the record of the team, but how prepared you are to compete with guys in your region, not even necessarily the district but the region. This may be an early indication that there is a lot of work to be done in that part of the region?
  13. Who drives the speed limit??? Dont stay overnight at the Sycamore Inn in Williamson WV.
  14. Cant argue the numbers, they never lie. Russell is king of the mountain. All they have to do is stay on top. Hard task however.
  15. Hoopsrbest, I love the class system, I had that in high school. It is a great setup. We took the final four teams in your class (say 4A) to the state tournament.
  16. Nothing in the world wrong with being reserved. In fact, I am not even questioning his moral fiber as a man, because I dont know him. I do however know him to be not personable. Not personable- not saying not likeable, lovable, caring, or any of that. Just simply not personable and in coaching, it helps to be personable. That was the statement.
  17. I start by saying: go seed. It is no doubt the best way to reward the kids for winning during the regular season. Make the kids play in January and February. But, put yourself in the shoes of the schools who know that they just cannot make it, and for the kids, small weak schools will always draw. After all, the kids are why coaches and AD's do what they do. To fix it all, force the state to go to all teams seed. Put the monkey on their back.
  18. Did not expect the margin to be so great. This really suprises me.
  19. I dont expect people to stop and talk about the weather, stock market, and the price of the eggs in china each time I say hello to you but when a man says hello to me, I typically say: good morning, hello, how the heck are you or something to that effect. In the business that he is in, personal skills can help a bunch. Remember, I take nothing from his ability to motivate, teach, inspire, all of that. He has a very well coached, disciplined team, I just dont think that he is very personable.
