  1. sml.....5.9 miles according to Google Maps is the distance between Trinity & St. X
  2. In my opinion, part of the problem is that this wasn't just a regular church service, it was a revival. And, this happened three days after the Breck Co. football team lost their former quarterback and a current classmate in a car accident. Lots of emotions going on in this service, no doubt. Allow them to publicly acknowledge their decision, but wait to talk with the parents before their baptism.
  3. Last I heard, they had worked out a deal with Rick Wood.
  4. Who in the world would want to get in the middle of this mess?
  5. Any idea on when they are expected to make a decision? Are they choosing three names because of the teaching situation?
  6. Seriously, what's up with all the secrecy? Throw some names out!
  7. Ed Smart, Grayson County......Look at what he has done for a poor program & he beat WC last season & finished district runner up at GRAYSON COUNTY.
  8. I heard this morning that Turley got the job.
  9. Will Black still be their Head Coach?
  10. "Finally, what's up with coach Ben Bruni for throwing the trophy after winning district? Also, the quarterback Jordan Ellis threw the trophy after winning their region last week. I know it's a use for motivation but do either of these teams need motivation after their not so glorious past?" Totally disrespectful, Bruni should be reprimanded for it.
  11. PurpleHaze, thanks for the compliment. The Grayson County fans are very proud of their Cougars!
  12. Hard fought game by the cougars. With about a minute and a half to go in the fourth, Grayson was driving down the field but failed to get in the end zone. Final Score Warren Central 28 Grayson County 21 Grayson had four turnovers but played hard and almost pulled out a victory. They'll face Bowling Green in the first round of the playoffs.
  13. (Warren Central will not obliterate Grayson but will beat them soundly.) Could have been a better game three weeks ago. Grayson Co. lost their starting quarterback to a broken collarbone later that same week, lost their starting split end and corner to a broken collarbone. Grayson can compete but Central wins this one on big plays.
  14. Prepnut, what happened to the game jerseys, film equipment, etc? The new coach plainly stated that he didn't have much to work with.
  15. As a woman and wife of a coach, I voted no! Girls should not play football. A few years ago we had a girl on the team, she did a decent job but everything was made more difficult for everyone. I have a daughter who loves football but would never ask to play (unless it was flag, powderpuff, etc) Her dad is the coach and she is well aware of things that happen in the locker room. Everyone knows that coaches talk to boys differently than girls....on and off the field. The coach definetly couldn't smack a girls back side for a job well done. Special accomodations have to be made for having even one girl on the team. Every game, we had to find a separate place for her to get dressed. After the game the boys had to make sure they didn't undress until she left the locker room. There are so many cons to allowing girls to play high school football and not nearly enough pros. And lest we forget what happened at the University of Colorado with their female kicker.

  18. It will not help attendance. We made the playoffs (the first time in 24 years) and I doubt we will have as many there as the regular season game. When we played our district game a couple of weeks ago, they slaughtered us. So the feeling around here isn't excitement, it's "oh well, I'm not going, they're going to get beat". If things were set up like they were last year, we would be playing a team for the first time in school history and I believe, the community and the school would show far more excitement. The entire system is in a mess!
  19. This may help with some questions: from the hendeson co. gleaner http://www.courierpress.com/news/2006/nov/01/mcelveen-case-was-rules-over-compassion/?gleaner=1/ ]McElveen case was rules over compassion Henderson County High School broke the rules by allowing an ineligible player to practice with the football team last season. T.J. McElveen was ruled ineligible to play in 2005 by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association but he practiced anyway with the knowledge of the school administration even though it was a violation of the KHSAA bylaws. But McElveen's case isn't so clear cut. It's a case where compassion should have been placed ahead of the rules. In the summer of 2005, McElveen moved to Henderson from the New Orleans area to live with his father. He enrolled in school in July and wanted to play football. McElveen, who was a junior at the time, had never played varsity football in Louisiana but was on the track team. A question over McElveen's legal guardianship along with the fact that he had participated in a varsity sport led the KHSAA to decide that McElveen would have to sit out one year before being eligible to compete in athletics at Henderson County High School. 20. KHSAA penalizes HCHS The Kentucky High School Athletic Association has suspended Henderson County football coach Duffer Duffy from Friday's playoff game with Apollo and also fined the school's athletic department $7,000 for allowing an ineligible player to practice last season. T.J. McElveen, a senior on this year's football team, was ruled ineligible for last season following his transfer from the New Orleans area. Though McElveen did not participate in any games during his ineligibility period from Aug. 3, 2005 to Aug. 3, 2006, he did participate in 46 practices during the 2005 season and one scrimmage in July 2006, according to a press release from the school system.
