  1. I went to college with Jay and he was one heck of a player and an even better guy. Wherever he ends up, he will be loved!
  2. You misunderstood me. I totally can see the decline of the program. The point of my post was to express how Tubby does not deserve to be bashed. We could have talked about a need for change with the bashing. Makes us look bad.
  3. Thank you for your post. Anyone who talks down to Tubby Smith is ridiculous. Tubby is a top five coach in the nation. That said, I don't think he was a good fit for UK. Think about it: He built the programs up at Tulsa and Georgia and took them to Sweet Sixteens out of nowhere. That's what he can do for a program. He is the best in the world at taking a poor team and building up a good program. Kentucky was in their prime when he came along. Those teams in the late 90's were amazing and won't be duplicated. There was nowhere to go but done. He just is not a flashy coach who shines in the spotlight. But that does not make him a failure. Tubby-bashers have been classless through this whole ordeal. The Big Blue Nation handled this very poorly. Sure you got your way, but we lost a lot of respect across the nation. Kind of reminds me how the USA has lost respect around the world during the war. I actually think that Tubby needed to leave just for a change of scenery, but the lack of respect for him by UK fans has been very disappointing. I feel very bad for whoever they get to take his spot.
  4. This has always been the argument that was the least rational to me. Sometimes teams just foul more than the other team. It is not the job of a referee to keep the fouls even. If he/she sees a foul, they call it.
  5. Wow! How tall is Simpson? It looks like she's a foot taller than everybody in that picture. I was thinking she was 6'2".
  6. Jessica Fortman of Russell to Buffalo Whitney Seals of Raceland to Belmont
  7. I would have to agree with you. They are going to be unbelieveable in two years. I'll take Elliot by 8.
  8. It's over. Why is Russell putting up so many 3's??? Let Fortman take over. Her name has not been called enough.
  9. I found this great article about KCU recruit Keith Smith from Scott County. Seems like a young man with great character that has overcome adversity to get where he his. http://www.georgetownnews.com/articles/2006/10/24/sports/sports01.txt
  10. Congrats to the Lady Devils!!! It's going to get a lot tougher in the finals. I'll still take Russell by 6. Does anyone have stats from the game?
  11. Russell 60 Rose Hill 54 I think that Russell's defense is just too much.
  12. Good gosh! Is this a junior high chat room? That is what it sounds like.
  13. Well, there are now 52 recruits on the page compared to about 42 that were on there on Sunday. I'm not sure who was and wasn't but I think that these for sure are new:Ryan Wolz, Shayne Willis, Brett Weaver, William Warren, John Rader, Chad Dyer, Drew Dawson I know most of those just were added on the website. I could be forgetting some or maybe a couple were on there previously.
  14. They have an amazing coach, who probably could have moved on to bigger things if he wanted. He runs a great system and gets the players year after year. KCU could probably be competitive in NAIA II. They should at least move up to NCCAA I for a challenge. NCCAA Division I schools also can double as NAIA schools. With the new Football Program, I wouldn't doubt a bit if they move up in divisions in the next 2-5 years.
  15. If you check out http://www.kcufootball.com , it has just been updated with another 6-8 new recruits. I don't know anything about any of the new ones, but if you do, share the knowledge.
  16. You got them all! I believe that Daniels from Russell was either their first or second leading scorer this year.
  17. Congratulations to the KCU Lady Knights for just winning the NCCAA Women's Basketball National Championship by a score of 75-63 a few minutes ago.
  18. Basically, they discussed how Damron's goal for the program is to win a Victory Bowl (the championship of NCCAA football) then hopefully in the future move to NAIA or NCAA III. He had an authentic concern about the other sports programs at the school and did not want to push the move if the other sports were not ready. Very Classy IMHO. He ran off the 2007 JV schedule and did mention that the first varsity game in 2008 will be against Virginia-Wise University. He said that he has had tons of offers from schools to be added to their schedule for 2008. They didn't talk much about specific recruits besides Aaron Miller. He mentioned his goal to recruit this region hard and give those players that would not normally have an opportunity to play at the next level a chance to do so. He talked a little about the new facility and said it would be a 3,000-3,500 seat complex for football and soccer. The building would have offices, weight room, locker rooms for soccer and football. He said something about how the locker room will be able to go from two visiting soccer locker rooms to one bigger one for football. I guess it will have some sort of divider between the two that can be removed. Coach also had very high things to say about KCU itself and mentioned its academics and Christian atmosphere. It's been a while since I listened to it, but that was the basis. I hope it helped.
  19. Have they already signed? According to http://www.kcufootball.com, they already have. I didn't notice it before. Thanks for the info. Great news!
  20. My prayers go out to Jonathan and his family. I know that, even though he won't be on the court, his hard work and leadership will spill over onto the court. The other guys on the team have learned a lot from him and will have that knowledge and experience Friday night and in Morehead. Good luck Jonathan in the future. By the way, has anyone heard anything about Blair turning his ankle in practice on Thursday. I know he did, but wasn't sure of the severity.
  21. I just received some really bad news. Dick Damron's cancer is already into Stage 3. The doctors are deciding whether or not they are going to try and treat it. Please pray for Dick and his family. He is an amazing man and this would be a devasting loss for KCU and the city of Grayson.
