  1. Ouch...I really hope you are wrong! I hear that the first game is not going to start until 7pm tonight. That's going to make for a late night for the Bell & Corbin fans.
  2. Congratulations to the 2008 52nd District Champs! Good luck next week in the 13th Region Tournament.
  3. From what I was told, that game would not count as a district meeting or toward seeding since it was added at the last minute. The game that was played at Mboro on April 22nd was considered the first district game between these two teams and therefore gave Bell the win.
  4. You're funny. Why do you act like you don't know anything about Bell Co. and its team? I recognize your avatar and where you got it from. You might want to consider changing that to something more neutral next time before posting. Because the strength of this team is and always has been their play as a unit, below is the list of Bell County players, their year and position(s) they play. Each of these guys are what makes the remaining team that much stronger. Take any one of them away and the entire team is greatly affected. #12 Kyle Nelson, Sr. - C, P #17 Robby Slusher, Jr. - 1B, P #9 Matt Simpson, Jr. - 2B, 3B, C #6 Shawnta Zachery, Jr. - 2B, SS, P #15 Spencer Greer, Jr. - SS, P #14 John Dudley Hilton, Fr. - 3B #11 Monte Merrick, Jr. - LF #1 Adam Overbay, Jr. - CF, P #2 Chase Ely, Jr. - RF, P #5 Jake Jones, So. - RF
  5. Last night at S. Laurel during the Diamond Classic Tournament.
  6. Nelson pitched well and the outfielders had some great catches, but errors cost Bell the runs and they could never get the bats going. Overall these guys played with no spark or emotion which is out of character for them? Maybe they are ready for Spring Break and their trip south to Florida?? Who knows? Hopefully we'll see more emotion and effort next week and come back to KY ready to play ball!
  7. TW - 5 hits, 3 runs Bell - 3 hits, 0 runs
  8. Bell Co. vs. Rockcastle Co. - http://www.1230wano.com/ Middlesboro vs. Corbin - http://www.1490wfxy.com/
  9. I'm sure it would be more difficult to get in 65 players vs. 35 players. The point of the comment was that Bell played everyone available and should not have been accused of running up the score.
  10. It looks like they dressed around 35 players.
  11. At some point well before the game was over, Coach Hilton came over to the bench and said, "Who's not been in yet?". There was not one player that came forward. He couldn't find anyone because there was no one left on the sideline who had not already been in the game. The entire team played that night! I don't think too many other teams in the state of Kentucky can say that?!
  12. Bell is overlooking no one this year! These boys and coaches have not looked past any one team all season long. This is truly a "blue collar team" who works hard all week for "pay day" on Friday.
  13. If Bell makes it to the region and if Lex. Cath. is there. Bell would have to go to Cath. I have heard it would be at Bell and then it would be at Lexington Catholic. So there seems to be some confusion around where the 3rd round game would be played if it were Bell v. Lex Cath. Here's what I found on the KHSAA site. This year the Region 4 championship is District 6 v. District 7. Bell is in District 7 and Lex Cath is in District 6. After reading rule 4 on determining who hosts a Regional Championship, it sounds like to me (if it were to be Bell v. Lex Cath in the 3rd round) Bell would play at home? Please read below and see if you interpret it differently? KHSAA RULES AND REGULATIONS Governing the Football Championships II) Dates and Times for Playoff Games A-4) The highest seed (finishing position in the district) shall host the regional championship game (third round). Should teams with the same seeding meet in the third round, the team representing the even-numbered District shall host the games in even-numbered years, while the team representing the odd numbered District shall host the game in odd-numbered years. If the paired districts are both even or both odd, the highest numbered district shall host the game in even numbered years and the lowest numbered district shall host the game in odd numbered years.
  14. Bell's d-line coaches have done a great job this year. Bell's 4 up front are led by seniors Shawn Henderson & Christian Mason, junior Tyler Harbin and sophoromore Billy Lawson. They, along with the rest of the defense, may be the unsung heros of this Bell County Football team. As shown in the picture below, they will get in your face in a hurry. Here's a picture of 3 of them from Friday night. #70 Shawn Henderson has the QB wrapped up, while #34 has a hand up ready to deflect the pass with #67 Billy Lawson coming in to help.
  15. Here's a picture of Merrick kicking the 56-yard field goal against Rockcastle with about 2 seconds left on the clock before half-time. I thought it was really impressive how the field goal unit and the rest of the team on the sidelines just ran off the field and straight to the locker room after the kick. There was no excessive celebration by the team. They left that to the fans who were going crazy afterwards!
  16. You know what? You may be right...how about it takes 22 players to play? Either way, even if it wasn't an excuse, you opened yourself up for the comment by making the statement that they would only be dressing 34 players including 9th graders.
  17. Yes, but I would be on the lookout for some new faces next year now that Bell has a different coach.
  18. Here's one from last night when Bell Co. played Clay Co. up on Log Mountain. The game had 3 snow delays before finally being called in the 5th inning.
  19. I believe the 6s and 7s are referring to the number of seniors Bell had this year and the projected number they will have next year. I think the point he was trying to make is that winning the "big" games in November will continue to be very difficult if students who should be playing football continue to sit at home instead of coming out in July!
  20. I was close, but thought they might go for 2 instead of extra point. Final Score: Bell 35-7
  21. I think Bell wins this week and could probably win on the ground game alone. However, they really need to work on passing the ball during an actual game and not just in practice if they hope to have a chance against Rock the following week.
  22. Bell should be in the driver's seat for this game. Look for the run since passing the ball may prove to be tricky for both teams due to poor field conditions. On Senior night, I'll say BELL 35-8
