  1. Don't know, could have been defense but I saw a lot of wide open shots on both ends rattle out of the basket. Grant has some quick guards that did a good job. Carroll had the same problem in the Fresh and JV games. They did not seem focused in their shooting. Impressed with Garnett (sp?) She did a good job. Good Luck at Districts, we play Walton - Versona tonight.
  2. 39 - 35 Carroll. CC was in a shooting slump but still managed to pull the win. Grant played hard but neither team had a strong offensive showing. Carroll Fresh and JV also won.
  3. CC looked pretty tough the other night. I think with the type of defense they have been playing it will hold the points down for the other team. CC 55 GC 43 Although I have not seen Grant Co. play lately, so I could be way off in my estimation.
  4. LuVbasketball you are the type that can coach their own child. I do not understand people who have the desire to coach their child in every sport they play, because I had to do it at the MS level and found it difficult and exhausting. This is a problem!, it is a problem in that most of the times the kid does get special treatment and the other parents do have problems with this. I also feel for the child too, because no matter what his skill level, others think he is getting to play because of his Parent.
  5. I have also noticed that many times the Parents do not really understand the game, they do not see that there are different positions on the floor. If you take player A out and they are a guard you usually replace them with a Guard not necessarily the next best player on the team. Or if the starting Post player is injured you usually bring in your next POST player not the guard. I listen to this all the times in the stands and I just do not know what they are thinking. Some Boys/girls can play multiple positions and then you can put the next best player in, but most of the time you have to sub position for position.
  6. They will rebound! WV is a tough team. Congratulations WV! I hope that Garcia is not hurt, she is a quality player for WV and it is her senior season.
  7. Congratulations Panthers! I am looking for an upset in the District Tournament.
  8. What is up with the officials? When we played Henry in the JV tournament they let it get so rough and out of hand that we had a player get hurt. I do not know if they just decide to stop calling fouls when another team is winning big or if they just want to get the game over. My 64 year old Mother says they just like to see girls fight. I laughed when she said it but now I wonder.......
  9. You are slacking TB&G!...I thought maybe they cancelled it because the time disappeared from the Riherds scoreboard listing.. Congratulations Lady Raiders!
  10. TB&G CC boys did well tonight against Williamstown except they still had that 3rd quarter/4th quarter letdown. When they put together a full game they are going to surprise other teams. I am so glad our districts will not have split sessions..what a pain!
  11. It was their first game back as a whole team they will get it together,.. Did Trimble and Henry play tonight?
  12. Sorry TB&G I was pulling for your boys..I am still hopeful for an upset at our District over Henry... Congratulations Henry County!
  13. I think Gallatin will win this one by 8, (I get Shasta if my point spread is closer than Buttels) They need to get focused on their district run.
  14. Thank you so much.. I think this might fit into her schedule.
  15. Gallatin lost to Owen (I think by 6), Carroll beat Henry.
  16. Congratulations to the Lady Panthers, they really executed their offense well last night. It was a good opportunity for Coach Mefford to play his young players. However, Kudos to the Williamstown team, nice bunch of hardworking young athletes that are a couple of years away from challenging every team they play.
  17. Well..who is playing for Gallatin...if everyone is back ecxept the ACL tear and Walton continues to play as they have Gallatin has a good chance. However, playing at Walton is hard, so I think I am going to have to go with Walton by 3. I would like to see the Wildcats pull it off though for our district.
  18. I am not talking about little Sallie getting fouled, I am talking about physically hurting another child on purpose. When it is ok for boys and girls to have a license to go on a basketball court and kick another player in the head after the whistle, or shove another player from behind when they are in the air because you are losing, then we should re-think basketball and start signing our kids up for Wrestling. If you think that the girls play the way you describe then you have not been to many girls games in the 8th region. They play very physical and rough, believe me your take on Girls' ball is way off. I watch many college games and high school games and college is not nearly as rough as I have seen locally.
  19. Oldguy: I do not understand what your point is exactly, is it OK to let them rough each other up because we do not have enough refs or is it that the fans are just complaining too much. I have seen 3 girls go out of 1 game injured and I just do not think that is the intent of basketball. I do not agree with it in the boys game either, at least in football they have the proper safety gear.
  20. The Khsaa Scoreboard has the following for the 2007 50th district: South Laurel/Williamsburg Feb 26 Whitley County/Corbin Feb 27
  21. Exactly, even though it is my player, it happens every game. You should not be able to go through the player to get the ball or gain an advantage from physical contact. Yesterday I saw a player tackle another girl, (should go out for football) and there was no call even though one player was layed out on the floor and hurt.
  22. Carroll Co. will travel to Grant County and make up the missed game this wednesday. I believe they have scheduled a triple header... Good luck Lady Panthers!:ylsuper:
