  1. HHS Dad - this is true for football and wrestling but not for Basketball at this time.
  2. One other thing on this..it is the same for Football, not enough involvement in the lower grades to develop the younger players to play the game. As far as the other athletics...new Baseball coach that looks good..Volleyball had the best year ever last year. Some of our cross country runners went to state.. Tennis usually is strong..we are not going to win at every sport but I see improvement in the ones that get attention at a young age.
  3. I guess I would have to disagree about the girls program.. they have gone to the all A the last 2 out of 3 years and have back to back district wins. The do not play Freshman and JV to win, only as a developmental league because most of the girls are on the Varsity and the coach does not play a starter down just to win a JV game. I think they are the best I have ever seen. The boys program went to the State Class A 2 years ago and were district runner- up last year. But this year is a struggle. However..I think that the other counties around us do a much better job in Varsity involvement at the Junior Panther and Middle School level. The GIrls Middle School program has had 2 years of good coaches and the Varsity coach has helped direct the program. On the boys side they continually change coaches it is mostly parents that try to keep it going. It has to start at a much younger age. TO build a program it has to be monitored at all levels by the ultimate beneficiary.. the Varsity program. Carroll County kids need to be developed and tought the game at a much younger age. Most can not afford private camps and need to get instruction in the developmental league. I think some of your information is incorrect on the Girls side though. They are the strongest they have been in a long time...but on the boys they are having a bad year this year..but if you look at the talent coming up we should do well ( the Fresh class and the Soph class both were winners in the Miidle schools)
  4. Does anyone know the strengths and weaknesses of Owensboro Catholic?:walk:
  5. I heard that Hanover and Centre were at the Class A watching him..It appears someone has noticed him. It is nice to see these players in the 8th region.
  6. gee..steel curtain, the kid is only a sophmore give him a break. He has not even finished growing yet, and plays with a lot of heart. Give credit where credit is due.
  7. I have to agree with the talent statement. They do have it, but they just can not seem to come together. I am still hopeful that it wil happen before the end of this season. There are some really good seniors on the team that deserve a good year.
  8. Only a Soph...he is going to be a monster..He got on the all tournament award and I really felt like he deserved it.. He is a good kid and definitely not an attitude problem. It is nice to see him want the game that bad.
  9. Oh well we can only hope that Eminence School is too large to participate in all A at that time...
  10. I would like to see the attitudes sit on the bench and the players that just want to play ball on the court for C-town...win or lose it would be more fun to watch. As a fan it is embarassing to watch that type of stuff happen on the court.
  11. Tonight it almost got ugly with the GC fans and the Owen fans sitting on top of each other with no designated areas... I hope it is a long time before another tournament is held there..
  12. Great Game, Good Luck in Richmond.. by the way does anyone know who won the cheerleader fight? Very Lively fans... Go 8th region!
  13. I think this is just Gallatin's year to represent us at the 8th and I wish them good luck! As far as CC goes I think in the next 2 years we will see some really good improved teams. I can not really comment on the coaching or lack of coaching. But I do know that those Soph and Fresh that are coming up are tough and determined. Good Luck to the Cats against Owen tonight..see you at the pen.
  14. You simply keep your ticket and then you use it to get back in the gym. The point of clearing it is so the fans for the next game can get a good seat for their game and not sit on top of the fans that stayed over from the previous game. It all goes back to that Eminence is just not the place to host a tournament like this.. Oh well they will only be one game tonight so I guess the uproar will die down.
  15. Yeah.. that's me..I had to buy a $4.00 smoking pass to go outside to smoke with the other cattle! I wonder if Eminence appreciates what a good time that we have had at their expense..well I have to go and run to the bank and get some money out to pay for that additional 4th quarter I am hoping to catch!
  16. Here is the link...No predictions yet though. http://www.allaclassic.org/Homepages/all%20a%20athletics%20homepage.html
  17. I just heard from Eminence and tonight they are going to charge by the quarter.. so the games will cost $1.25 per quarter...This is great news! They will clear the gym after every quarter and issue 4 tickets per game. This was the fans that want to catch a little of the each game will only have to buy 1 quarter at at time. I am thrilled that they have some to their senses. See you in the Pen!
  18. True Blue - I thought your fans were very spirited last night and did a good job cheering. It was too bad they did not have sections marked off so that the fans knew where to sit. Oh, well another jab at Eminence
  19. I understand what you are saying True Blue..but I really do not think of the All A as a profit center...I like for the students of all the schools to be able to attend school functions and see and appreciate basketball in our region. I attended many tournaments at Christmas and none of them did this. I think Eminence really has sucked the fun out of a tournament atmosphere for the fans. You want to be able to watch all the teams..if not then do not even have them in the same location. It is not if we are paying to sit in a nice gym either, my neck is sore this morning from the pole that I had to look around the entire game. Let the students in free if they are going to pull this kind of stunt. "what were they thinking" See you tonight, I will be standing in the holding area waiting for the cattle prod so I can get in the gym.
  20. Gallatin is very strong right now..I would love to see Carroll win but they would really have to step up their game and not turn the ball over. Gallatin has a lot more fire power this year, so it may be their year to go to State. However, anything can happen in a tournament...and since we were not allowed to see the end of the GC game ( see other post) I have no idea how they looked last night. It will be a good night of basketball!
  21. Well after loading up the kids and expecting to get to Eminence to see some of the 8th Region games.I was very disappointed when we were not let in the door unless we paid for each game separate! We were held in a small area and then escorted in with our "good for one game only ticket" after the team in front of our game finished playing. There were dozens of students who could not afford the $10.00 just to see the end of Gallatin Co. game. I am very disappointed in this, I have never gone to a tournament where this was the case. If Eminence is too small to host a tourney of this size then they need to rent the Henry Co. gym or stop being greedy and pass on hosting! They did not do this last year when they hosted the girls tournament. Eminence should be embarassed:madman: I felt sorry for the lady that was taking money. Everyone griped at her and I am sure she had little to do with the decision.
  22. Hendricks really showed that he can play under the basket tonight and finish the shot. You could tell that he really wanted to win that game, I think he should also get some sort of cheerleading award because he definitely worked on getting the crowd into the game. Carroll turned the ball over to Trimble's pressure defense over and over. They are going to have to do better with the ball if they are going to hang with Gallatin. Trimble looked good and those boys played hard.
  23. Way to Go Panthers! If they can stop turning the ball over and play like they did in the later part of the 2nd half they will win some games. Trimble played really hard and it was a tough win.
  24. Girdy moved to Carroll Co. from Texas, her mother got a job in CC and moved to be close to her Grandmother, who is a CC resident. I believe that Girdy was a top player in her Texas High School also. She is a phenomenal Volleyball player also. Just an all round athlete..I am sure the Lady Panthers appreciate the move.
