  1. Amber Girdy from Carroll County is a great guard but this might be more Northern Kentucky area. She transferred in from Texas so she has not had a lot of PR in KY. SHe is fast and one of the best defenders that I have seen in our region. Fun to watch, I am looking forward to seeing some of these girls that you mention above play in Richmond. Should be great basketball!
  2. Since it is tournament time I would not count out anyone at this point. Even in the Girls tournament there were games that on paper should not have been close but in the tournament atmosphere different things happen. I think Gallatin has played the best year to date, but a bad shooting night or foul trouble and it could be anyones tournament. Whoever wins, I hope they win several games at Richmond and get the 8th some respect.
  3. Great! I was afraid it was another ACL tear and our area has seen enough of those. There were 2 in Carroll County in the last 2 years, 1 in Trimble and they seem to effect the girls for several years. Good Luck!
  4. Is there any word on Gallatin County Balsiger's(sp?) knee? I wondered if you know when she would be back for Gallatin County.
  5. I have not seen this score posted on the scoreboard. Was the game played and if so what was the score?
  6. Whitney is a great player but we also must give credit to the rest of the team. The other players have done an outstanding job..Girdy, Wallace, Lowe, Osborne and Henderson have really worked hard and they all want Whitney to shine and have a great senior season. I am not sure she has to play all 5 positions but she certainly is capable. As far as Super B's points for improvement, he has some good points, I think it is easy for her to rely on her height at this level and will have to break some of these habits next year. However, it seems to be working right now! Go Lady Panthers!
  7. Are they going to reschedule earlier in the week or at another time? I think it would be a good game also, although I saw the last game against Grant and I have to say that the Lady Panthers have really improved, especially the outside shooting of the young Soph and Fresh girls. I have not seen Grant lately so they they may have improved also. Is there no discussion of re-schedule?.
  8. Any stats? One of the WKU coaches was in the audience, she had to be happy with her new recruit.
  9. I am hopeful the Lady Panthers from Carroll Co. can make some noise for the 8th region. I think it woud be really hard to predict though...since so many Schools do not play any of the same opponents. It should be great basketball!
  10. The Lady Panthers came out relaxed and ready to play last night. They really looked like the team that has played all year. I think they may make some noise at Richmond and I wish them Good Luck! This is a great way for Whitney to spend her senior year and a great experience for the younger players on the team. I hope Amber Girdy gets noticed by some colleges because she is an excellent ball player and is also a top Volleyball player. Since she is new to the state I do not think she has had the exposure yet that she needs.
  11. Considering that Gallatin County had 2 starters out they played hard and with a strong defense. I was impressed with their effort. I was disappointed with their fan turn-out, as hard as those girls work they need some support.!
  12. Carroll County seemed so tight the first half...with 2 soph and 1 freshman starting it took some halftime locker room discussion to get them out of the slump. Walton Verona played a great game. They have definitely improved this year. It was a great game and the Gallatin - Owen game was a tight one also. Owen County pulled it out but GC put up a good fight without their 2 wounded starters. Great Basketball! I can not wait to see what happens tomorrow!
  13. What is wrong with her knee? I am very sorry to hear that. Every team seems to have a knee injury on it. Congratulations to Gallatin Co. I am impressed with Williamstown, they really play hard and have improved this season.
  14. My opinion is that to be good at basketball it takes a lot of hard work and is not all that glamorous. Many of the other sports..Cheerleading, Volleyball etc. have really strong numbers in the small schools. For example, our High School has more Cheerleaders than female basketball players. However even though we may not have the quantity we are seeing a lot of quality players that work hard all year long to field a winning team. I think that as more girls participate we will eventually get the numbers that it would take to make it more competitive.
  15. It is so hard for the smaller schools to discuss JV teams since most of the team plays up and many of the coaches will not allow girls with significant playing time on Varsity to play JV. Our JV team consists of 2- 8th Graders a 7th Grader and various JR's and Freshman that rotate in. The good news is that they are still winning in our district. If the coach let the 2 freshman and 2 sophmores that play varsity play in the JV tournament we would do great. However, it is used as a learning league and not a competitive league. It would be great to have enough quality players to have 3 strong teams of V, JV and Freshman, but it seems that will not happen in many of the A schools. It is nice to hear that they get some attention in the larger schools.
  16. Has this injury prevented any Schools from looking at her for a scholarship. I remember her when she was healthy and she was a great player. Carroll's ACL injury took out one of our best scorer's she plays quality limited minutes but starts to limp after a few runs down the floor and has a really hard time bending in a scramble for the ball.
  17. I thought the adjustments Trimble made at the half really stopped #15 from scoring in the second half. It was just too much of a deficit to come back from. The Walton group said that this was the first time Walton had played like that all year. I really feel for Jennings, she is such a quality player but she just can not seem to move well on her knee. Carroll has one like that also and it is a terrible thing to happen in their Senior season.
  18. It would be nice to see the Panthers represent the Region this year and give Ballinger and Girdy some exposure. They are really a fun team to watch.
  19. Carroll is about 1-2 years away from being a great ball team. They have lots of talent but they just do not play well together. Their Soph class and Freshman class are really strong so hopefully they will pull together by the end of this season or this summer. A good sign that things are not going right is when players get technicals by mouthing off at the ref or when players must sit out because of mouthing off to the coach. It is frustrating to watch. I saw the team leading Gallatin at Gallatin at half time and then just fall apart in the 4th quarter.
  20. I think Trimble will pull this one out. Walton really has surprised me this year in their performance. Trimble seems to have improved throughout the year and has won several tough games.
  21. Seeding is always the way to go. This makes the season meaniful and it assures that the 2 best teams make it to the region. Regionals should not be seeded because most teams in the region do not play each other, so it is understandable that they are not. However it, should be that the 1st place team from one district plays the 2nd place team from another so that there is some meaning to winning the district.
  22. Are the brackets out for the State All A tournament. I can not find them on the Touchstone website and I wondered if they were already lined up by region. Can anyone give me a link?
  23. Has anyone seen all the teams play enough to be able to predict? Right now Carroll looks good but I have not seen Walton or Trimble play since early in the season. Owen County can be streaky and may have a shot of making the final.
  24. Carroll County boys are just not having their best year, they have many great individual players but have yet to put together a good team effort. The do not seem to be responding to the Coach and have some very young players that are seeing significant minutes and show much promise for the future. I think Gallatin is certainly the dominate team right now in this district.
