  1. What has happened to JC this year? Seem to be going through a really tough time right now. What is the overall record now?
  2. 16 yr. old freshman. So is Cox and Stepp actually the same age or has Stepp been held back also?
  3. Sounds like the kid has a bright future in front of him. I wish him the best of luck. :thumb:
  4. Was Tubby really there to watch him only or was he there just to check out the games and other players as well. Does Cox have the potential to play at UK? I know he is just a freshman and has 3 years to mature, but you can usually tell when a player is special or not. What is Cox's size. Not trying to disagree with anyone or slight Cox just don't know much about him.
  5. He was a great player I got to see that '96 team play quite a few times. They were pretty tough.
  6. Actually only two starters returned. Josh Mckenzie, Craig Ratliff (30 pts in the 96' championship game), and Matt Ratliff graduated.
  7. Cats win in a boring game. 70-59.
  8. They are both great players. Hopefully we can keep getting recruiting classes with these types of players in them.
  9. So far this year Jasper has had a bigger impact but Meeks hasn't quite got the minutes that Jasper has been seeing since he has been inserted into the starting line-up. I think come March we may be looking at Meeks as our #2 option on offense if Bobby and Joe continue to struggle.
  10. I do think Meeks is the best player in this freshman class. He is without a doubt the most physically prepared body-wise of the freshman class which gives him a huge advantage this year over say, a Perry Stevenson. As far as the Crawford statement I am with you, I am a huge Joe fan but every game he just keeps making me think that he is turning out to be a huge bust.
  11. From my understanding they are sprints.
  12. C'mon, didn't you watch "The Junction Boys"? BTW, like the avatar. :thumb:
  13. I don't believe it. Check out these links, they are links from Rivals.com and the first one list the top running backs in the whole nation, and the second one list the top all-purpose backs in the whole nation. I have looked myself through about thirty of these players and have seen 2 that have a 40 time in the 4.3's. And Mercer has 3 on one team in Kentucky that run in the low 4.3's? http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1477&Year=2007 http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1476&Year=2007
  14. I never said they are slow I just don't think any of them let alone all three run in the 4.3's. Just because you don't run in the 4.3's doesn't mean you are slow.
  15. WOW!!! Didn't know Mercer had 3 backs faster than any back in the NFL. BTW, everyone lies about these 40 times. I would almost guarantee no high school kid in the state of Kentucky runs a 4.3 40yd, it just doesn't happen, let alone 3 backs on one team that run in the low 4.3's.
  16. I want a team that I can be proud to say I support, don't get me wrong I am still proud to say I am a big blue fan, but not as proud as what I used to be. I just don't think Tubby can coach the type of players that belong at UK, you know the really great players. Of course Tubby can take good players like Gerald Fitch, Marquis Estill, Erick Daniels etc. and mold them into really good college players in 3 or 4 years, but what about the players that can come in and immediatley make a huge impact. Let's take a look at how some of the highly recruited players have faired under Tubby. These are just a few that come to mind forgive me if I leave someone off. Jason Parker- left the team Rashaad Carruth(sp.)- kicked off team Keith Bogans- good 4 year player, never reached true potential under Tubby Tayshaun Prince- much better in NBA than college Morris- tried to got to NBA after freshman year Crawford- tried to leave during middle of Fresh. year, never has reached potential Rondo- we all know that story, wasn't good enough to start half the year for Tubby last year, but good enough to wow scouts and fans as a rookie for the Celtics. As bad as I hate to say everyday the college game is becoming more like the NBA, you almost have to be better with dealing with ego's than you are with X's and O's to be succesful year in and year out in college.
  17. I will agree about the young kids, I am really impressed with all four of them.
  18. Not trying to run the program down, but I don't think you can honestly say that you are happy with the job Tubby is doing. We just can't get the quality recruits other teams are getting now a days. Memphis, yes Memphis, made us look like a high school team they had so many more athletic players than us.
  19. I disagree with your second of the three categories. I sort of fall into the second category as I would guess most people who follow UK basketball do. I claim loyalty and would like to see changes at coach but I don't have unreal expectations. I don't think fans are asking UK to win the championship every year just have a respectable team that can at least finish the year ranked in the Top 25.
  20. Your telling me you would rather have a Bobby Perry who gives you four solid years than having a one and done player that can win you a championship. Example, Carmelo Anthony with the 'Cuse or Ohio St. this year with Greg Oden and all of the great recruits they got.
  21. Probably going to be champions for this year too.
  22. I see where you are coming from oldrambler. It's just that in most cases if you have NBA caliber players on your team you are going to have a really good college team. Just take a look at Florida
