Why doesn't OH have these problems as KY does with the smaller schools and the numbers game? I understand the 8th graders moving up when the team doesn't have enough players, nothing else to do but move them up. Maybe KY should adopt some of the OH rules. In basketball they have a limit on number of qts a player can play in a given night. Not a bad idea when you see some of the freshman play an entire freshman game, 1/2 of the JV/V games. This can not be too healthy.

OK, so I haven't umpired since I was a teenager doing knothole. I will take everyone's word that you believe he was in the right position. He was up the third base line in foul territory, if this is correct so be it. I would think he would be on the first base side in fair territory where his vision would not be blocked. From the first base dugout, he clearly slid under the tag. Some HC fans thought the same. As someone eluded to if the runner would have tagged on the fly to left BHS maybe would not have been in that situation. This was one of the best H.S. games I have seen, throwing out the balls and strikes called. The kids played great, the pitchers threw even better. The HC pitcher has a bright future if he is pitched smart and don't wear him out. As for me umpiring, couldn't pay me enough. As for someone eluding to me not knowing anything about baseball, I won't waste my time to explain my background as to give my secret identity away. cooperstown, what is it like to be such an expert about everything? under the lights, if you think a regular season game at this time of yr is more important than the All A tournament, you must be new to this area and KY.

This is an easy question. The All "A" is a TOURNAMENT, your so called "big school" games are JUST regular season games and really mean nothing at this point except for bragging rights. So, should the V umps do the All "A", most certainly leaving the big school games to the JV umps. I think the head of the umpires has something against Beechwood, just a shame that all the teams they play have to suffer along w/them. Sportsfan34, hello my old buddy! You and your wife are correct. He was safe. No, to the question as "did I have a good seat, I had a great seat!" The catcher did not block the plate, the Beechwood kid made a heck of a slide head first w/his hand crossing right over the plate. He was tagged up on the shoulder. The umpire, IMO, was out of position, he was up the 3rd base line instead of staying right behind the plate. As for coach getting tossed, a matter of someone having RABBIT EARS. Again, I had a great seat, all he said was "that was a terrible call, you blew it." W/that he got tossed immediately. This ump just wanted to be the big shot for this game and there wasn't even any TV coverage. You can think and say what you want, it was a horrible umpired game from behind the plate for BOTH teams. If I were a HC fan and had the great seat I did, I would also say "he was safe." As I said the whole game on balls and strikes, alot of balls that were strikes and alot of strikes that were balls, BOTH WAYS.

Most definetly! The strike zone changed every inning. Both pitchers threw great games but unless it was right down the middle waist high was the only guaranteed strike. One inning corners next inning the plate went round, no strikes letter high for either so he was consistant w/that but only that. Missed a big call at the plate. The runner was easily safe but called out. Then tossed the coach after only one comment and it was not a nasty type comment. He was waiting to do something like that then stood there and smiled about it, very unprofessional. Unfortunate for the kids to have to play their hearts out and have such inexperienced umps for such a big game.

How does the head of the umpire assoc justify scheduling JV umpires to do an All A tournament game between two of the top ten teams in the region? Is there a shortage of umpires this season? The best, the head guy was at the game, he should be ashamed of himself doing this to the kids, IMO!

Did Katie play in the East/West game during the Ky state tourney? If she did she better be careful because if she plays in this one and the other that is her two all star games before grad. She has been invited to tryout for the KY/IN game, so when is that, after or before June 1st? I was under the impression that is why some of the other top players are not in this game due to already playing in the all star game during state and the possibility of playing in the KY/IN game.

It would be nice to have each states Miss Basketball play in this game each yr. I have been told there will be three NKY girls playing instead of two. Don't ask I don't know who!

Beechwood's are suppose to be in this week according to a Herf-Jones rep!

Sam Bowling(Beechwood) has been offered from Lewis and Clark but still has a few visits left.

Are all of these young players staying at Walton? Meaning, are the freshman to be all coming back to Walton or heading for higher grounds?

Just looked at the updated website, where is the two top players in Cincinnati, Amber Gray and Jessica Pachko? I assume OH's #1 player is off w/the McDonald All American Team. No one from the three in a row state championship team Mt Notre Dame?

The original list always looks great and then the week of the game, a few always back out w/other comittments or financial problems.

Exactly right and hind sight is 20/20. He did what he thought was right for his kid and it was not kept secret from anyone that he was pulling her out as what was done in the past w/some others who left. H.S. is all about the kids and what the kids want. Isn't this what is being sd about the soccer issue. Well, whether you like it or not, the kids want Bowling and if the board agenda wasn't such a big secret back in Feb and families were made aware of what was going on AGAIN, Bowling would still be at Beechwood as well as St E. HJ, you seem to be an intellegent man but you don't know everything about every school and their unique situations. How about commenting on the issue about the public having a say so instead of just picking out the Bowling issue. Do you agree or disagree, should the community have a say so on who is taking care of their kids while participating in extra curricular act. or not? You say they should regarding having soccer, well, unfortunately it is a big deal to the community who takes care of their kids also and they weren't given the chance, as they were last yr, to voice their opinions.

Not real sure what you are getting at here. BHS houses k-12, elem being k-6 w/the middle school consisting of 7/8th grades and the H.S. 9-12. This as far as I know is not any different than other schools. What I am saying and I can't get any more simple than this, girls that are in the 8th grade at BHS that decide to leave after their 8th grade yr due to not having soccer has only been TWO. One is on a soccer scholarship at Bellarmine(soph) and the other is currently a Sr at NDA.

Girls that attended BHS in elementary school that left after the 8th grade due to not having soccer is TWO. Is this more understandable or do I still not understand what you are asking. There is no way of knowing how many girls at Blessed Sacrament did not come to BHS because they don't have soccer.

The tax payers nor the families involved in high school activities had any say over my friend Bowling losing his job. Sorry, had to go there, a hole other can of worms stirring at Beechwood. I think Beechwood will get soccer due to activities involving why Bowling is gone(Athletic Foundation). I look for Coach Long also to leave BHS along w/a few players. Not saying Coach Long has a new job picked out and will take said players w/him, just that if he leaves a few players will also leave. To answer a question regarding how many girls have left BHS due to not having soccer, TWO that I know of in the last TEN yrs. More have left due to other sports, mainly basketball, 1 softball and 1 golf that I know of. Not one girl that I know of has ever left due to volleyball.

Rankings. It always amazes me how people seem to put so much emphasis on these rankings which, to me, mean absolutely nothing!
