Russell won a state title last year playing a similar schedule to the one they played this year. Don't bank too much on their SOC. You can use that theory with Mercer since this is the farthest we have ever been. But, Russell.......They know how to win.

Actually Laure needs to force alot of 3 and out. Mercer is very good at chewing up the clock and keeping your offense off the field if they are forced into that situation.

Hey, we were up only 15-0 at the half tonight. Newport was playing us tough. We forced them to go to the air and we got some picks and it snowballed for them thereafter. We have to bring it or we will get beat.

What kind of offense does Larue run? I don't know alot about them.

What I meant is that they didnt give up the huge runs that has been our bread and butter this year. Mercer showed they had a passing game once again. They seem to throw the ball a little more every game.

I have to give Newport's D props. The score is a little misleading. They held our offense again from being as explosive as normal. The wildcats have nothing to be ashamed of. They are a quality team. Props to the Titan Defense. I dont know how many shots Newport had at the endzone their early in the first half. I think it was atleast 8 shots from the 5 or 6 yard line. Props to Darrel Smith for an awesome performance. Watch WKYT 27 tonight to see the catch he makes. It's unreal. Was that Corey who threw the ball to him? I couldnt tell.

Alright folks. Just a couple of hours before kickoff. I'm changing my prediction. But first, I hope all the folks from Newport have a safe trip to and from Mercer tonight. Secondly, I hope noone from either team gets injured. I expect a highly competitive game tonight. I'm gonna miss not getting to go back to Newport to watch a game between these two. Hey devil, I really think they are going to be tested tonight. Newport has won 4 in a row. And as you can tell by there points last week (34) that they are getting that offense going. That all they need cause that defense has been solid for some time.

I just want us to make it to the title game. So much football to play before December 1, 2006. Our defense is tough and they are hoping to get to go up against a great offense but, we have to win friday cause thats the biggest game of the season for us. One and done is the thought in these kids heads. They know that. And they know there are some great teams out there. And Newport is coming to Mercer expecting to win.

Yeah, it was a huge run. I thought the back was gone. It really scared the you know what out of me. Like I said after the last Newport game, I thought you guys had a Great defense. Very athletic on that D line. If you guys can have someone step up for you QB it could be down to the wire. I'm looking forward to this one. If any Newport fans need any directions or tips on a place to eat just let me know.
