Mercer and Harrodsburg merged in june. Take both teams schedules and try to make a new schedule with 3A teams this year. Plus, let the schools on their schedule already take the money loss cause they merged and that's one of the reason's that teams aren't re-classified during the same year. It's been this way for ever but their hasn't been a merge in the state since Mason co Maysville back in the early 90's.

Hey, I don't remember all the whining when Boyle won their first title in AA when they had AAA #'s. And if they did whine then Boyle didn't care. They were the AA champions. So if Mercer wins they will care less what people on the outside will think. If your team gets smacked by Mercer this year then I'm sorry.

His son had just played his last game as a Boyle Co Rebel and Uk offered. Perfect timing? It wasn't a shock when he left. I'd been hearing that once Brandon graduated that he was turning his attention to the next level. He won 5 in a row and left Boyle in good shape.

Chuck Smith left cause he got the opportunity of a lifetime for a high school coach. If Chuck Smith was still at Boyle Co they would probably be 5-0. Those teams were tough cause they had Chuck's personality. Those kids would run through a wall for that man. I've never seen more fundamentally sound football teams then those coached by Chuck Smith.

Yeah, I think Somerset and Mercer had a scrimmage in early august. The Titans only have 4 wins in school history. It's the same school name (Mercer) but, it's not the same school. So Mercer's tradition is just starting. If you think Mercer wont get better as the year goes on then keep dreaming. Let Somerset work on getting their second win before wanting to throw them in front of a truck. I guarantee that Boyle would hammer Somerset just like Danville did.

Congrats to Somerset on getting that win this past friday. Those kids have had their brains beat in this season. Glad to see them get to start this week on a positive note.

Why bring up team schedules now? Mercer beat Boyle when their offense wasn't at it's best. You can take shots at Mercer's defense all you want. They sure delivered shots to Boyle. The speed of Mercer's defense was the difference. For example, when Boyle completed that long pass play in the first half from inside their 15 yard line in which it was a similar play they completed against Danville. He was all by himself. I think Miller made the catch but anyway it looked as if he would take it to the house but, the Titan secondary looked like they were drawing straws to decide who was going to take him out. Needless to say he didn't score. They harrassed Perry all night long. Boyle just couldn't move the ball. Don't give Mercer credit for a hard fought win. I don't think that will change anything. Their is no other way to say it but that you are in denial. Boyle is better then their record I know this. Garrard got more than 53 rushing yards against the Mercer defense. So Boyle should have ran all over the Titans. I give credit to the Boyle defense to containing all those backs that the Titans have back there. But Mercer showed they have the defense to keep them in games. The officiating was poor on both sides. Mercer had well over 100 yards in penalties so they weren't getting all that much home cookin. The Mercer defense was the difference in the game along with action Jackson.

That's cool. It looked like alot of people got there a little early.

What did Boyle Co do the season before their first title? I believe they went 7-5 and had never smelled anything close to a title. Then what happened to them? The very next year they were one of the best teams in the state and went on one of the greatest runs in the state. So you can throw out the experience of being there and the swagger that the teams that have been there. This Mercer team is tough. Last night Boyle scored to cut the lead 21-14 late in the fourth. Mercer goes 3 and out and has their punt blocked and Boyle has the ball at the Mercer 16. What do they do? They hold them on downs. Game over or almost. They showed alot of toughness last night. From what I saw if you aren't loaded with team speed then their pursuit on defense will hurt you. All I'm saying is that they have just as good of a chance as anybody else. The community is going nuts over their new TEAM and they are getting alot of press. I just think it's going to add alot more excitement to the playoffs. Mercer will bring loads of fans so if they make it far enough to play one of the powerhouse teams it will be an unreal atmosphere. Their was alot of anger over this merger in the community. But, the more this team wins the more healing I see out their of the folks that were hurt about Harrodsburg High being no more. You just have to be from here to understand. So people are a little over excited and I know I am one of them. But, the playoffs are a way off so I believe this thread will grow for awhile.

I think Russell is a very good team from seeing them in the past and reading about them. I think we have a very good defense. I also think Mercer would put some points on the board. Both teams are going to be alot better at the end of the year. I guess since a comment about Mercer's enrollment comes up in every thread they should be able to name the score. Actually I'm kidding about naming the score. But the enrollment issue will just have to be brought up. That's going to get worse the longer the season goes. I think by the end of the year Mercer will have had the i's dotted and the t's crossed.

Did you sit in the bleachers on the sideling or the endzones? I saw alot of students on both ends. I don't know why they would have been in the visiting sideline bleachers. With that crowd and the seating arrangment it was hard for the fans not to be near the field. I can't answer for the behavior of some people. I think a good majority of Boyle and Mercer fans watched the game standing amongst one another. I didn't see anything.

Who is #8 for Western? He really impressed my against North Laurel.

I agree 100%. Both teams would bring huge amounts of fans.

Mercer came out flat against Garrard and scored 49 points on 31 offensive plays.

I saw a few Danville folks at the Mercer/Boyle game.

Really how else can you measure them up? It wouldn't be easy anyway I don't believe.

That's what I like about this Mercer team. No longer than they have been playing together they really seem to be coming together as a tight group. That defense will flat out get after you and hit you.

It was definitely a playoff atmosphere.

I don't think Mercer will overlook anyone. It was quoted in the paper that Coach Jaggers will tell them when they are good.
