Miles Mcbride did not play in the last 6 games for Moeller. He was 21/31 for 277 yards and 3 TDs/ 2 INTs and 1 rushing TD against Trinity. They used 2 different QB's in their win over St Ignatius but their coach resigned after losing 45-0 to Colerain in the 1st round. Their WR's McCracken had the 63 yard TD and RJ Rhayo had the 8 catches including the 42 yard TD and the long punt return. Wills had the 27 yard TD among his 5 catches.

It is simple- St Xavier must rush for over 200 yards against Trinity. They are 11-0 when they rush for 200+ this season. Regular season game, they rushed for 11 yards. When you run the ball, the clock runs, Trinity's powerful offense is on the sidelines. St Xavier cannot scorch the defensive backs like Moeller did, running to their 17-0 and 24-7 leads as Moeller at 4-7 did have above average talent at the receiver and running back positions, leading to long completions over the DBs and long punt returns. Warren Central had big time talent at WRs too as they went for 621 yards total in the 42-41 loss. St Xavier has a 6'5 and 6'4 WR that learned alot about physicality against Cincy St Xavier but they have to have success running the ball. So yes, St Xavier has to pound Trinity. Here's the problem- Trinity has 7 running clocks in a row. They have dominated in every game since the St Xavier game. No 4th string running backs playing, all of their starters resting in the 2nd half games since September.

I think Trinity has the advantage from the injury perspective. Albers, Moeretti, Allgeier, Dobson, all injured over the last 5 weeks plus going through the war against Scott County last week with a number of players limping at the end.

Wow! I just got done taking a look at Scott County and you have to be impressed. Brice Fryman and Glenn Covington seem to be among the top talent that we've have seen at the RB and WR spots. I see their offensive tackles both go over 300 lbs and their guards pull and lead most of their long runs. All of this is led by a senior quarterback Joshua Davis who seems to be freakishly accurate on his passes when they decide to run. I think they controlled the clock for over 32 minutes against Frederick Douglas. On defense, they lean on future college star ILB Berk Watts, a 6"3 205 specimen, who is only a junior. As a matter of fact, RB's Brown, Barnett, WR Covington and big DL 315 LBS Christian Carter are all juniors too. Since St Xavier ended the last game with their 4th string running back Will Ginter, all 5'6 and 140 LBS of him, it will depend alot on Jack Albers ( QB) to get started fast. Based on what I saw, you don't want to fall behind these guys-Moeller and LaSalle jumped ahead in their games against SC. By the way, back to back semifinals and Regional Championships for St Xavier and Coach Wolford. Since soccer, cross country and golf have already set high standards this fall, football needs to play well on Friday. I am looking forward to the challenge. Side fact- Central Hardin ( South Warren, Christian Academy) , Trinity ( St Xavier, Champagnat in FL), and St Xavier( Trinity and Central) all have 2 teams on their regular season schedule still alive in their state playoffs. Scott County does not have anyone left still alive. St Xavier had 6 teams still alive going into last weekend. They have eliminated 3 of their regular season opponents in the playoffs so far. Tough district!

For those coming to St Mathews, try Fairfax avenue directly across from Trinity for Italian ( Silvio's, ) Greek ( Tazika's ) or Mexican (El Terasco ) or just tacos at a new place- El Taco Luchador. Sushi is great at Drakes and next store is Waylons Firewater which is a local guy and pretty good. Yes there are other locations that serve adult beverages, all within walking distance.

Dear Note to College Coaches: Are you kidding me? Do you really want to go into next season with the slow, indecisive QB you have now? Good luck with the job search after you lose again and again. You could of made an offer to Nick Bohn, of one of your 85 scholarships but you chose not to retain your position. His team has won 27 straight if you haven't heard- have you won 27 since you got there? Yes he is about the size of Drew Brees and has completed over 80 % of his passes and has averaged over 14 yards per attempt. Please tell me you won't make the mistake of passing on him!

I responded to this in another thread but wanted to open this. No referee can comment on specific games but hopefully this gives you insight into the changes from 5 person to 7 person. I can't speak for specific games but the additional 2 officials will be a field judge and a side judge located on the sideline(s) at the same depth as the back judge. Those 2 officials generally help on pass coverage and red zone coverage of goal lines/sidelines/back line of end zone. On running plays, since the linesmen/ line judge don't have to cover as much, more focus can be on sweep blocking infractions and longer runs with downfield blocking. Most crews have already done at least one game working with 7 officials earlier this season. To give an illustration of the mechanics, generally lets say the play call is a jet sweep. the Referee will have the ball carrier until the ball crosses the Line of scrimmage while the linesman will have the initial blocking. Once the ball crosses the LOS, then the linesman takes the ball carrier for 10/15 yards and marks forward progress/fumbles ,etc. The side judge/field judge should be able to help the referee with blocking. Once the ball carrier breaks loose then the side judge/filed judge has the ball carrier until the end zone. This all changes closer to the end zone and will be discussed in pregame. Side judges and field judges have different keys( positions to focus on) on pass plays based on formation so it helps on pick plays/rub routes. There are only 24 games this weekend so you can rest assured the best 168 officials will be working because alot of the 3rd round officials will work the finals too. Normally you don't do the 3rd, 4th , and 5th round-rather maybe 1-3-5 or 2-5th but with the 7 man crew, I think you'll see alot of the best this weekend.

We had a moment of silence prior to the game ( well written I might add), advising that we as a larger community, not just PRP, had lost a great person and it just silenced the crowd until PRP went 80 yards on the 1st play. Incidentially, star receiver and db Shannon Bishop's brother passed away yesterday from brain cancer and he started the game catching the TD. Coach Williams had a cast on his right arm and a blank stare during the toss( right after the moment of silence ) , but coached his team up on the sidelines during the game with his usual enthusiasm. The game was hard fought and it was 7 -7 in the 4th quarter with the winner. St Xavier rode Allgeier to the go ahead TD midway through the 4th quarter and you could see the PRP team lose its focus and energy drain and slowly it became evident that this game would not go its way. It was evident in their expressions and body language that life was throwing another hurdle their way. From the St Xavier side, it was as if you didn't want to win as you became such admirers of the PRP class and dignity displayed, as if somehow PRP deserved to win because of the events of this week. All night, both teams helped each other up after tackle, never a taunting word uttered. As both teams shook hands after the final horn, both teams and coaches gave hugs to each other and St Xavier broke from tradition by not singing the alma mater, but rather choosing to kneel in prayer. Coach Wolford was emotionally touched and called this game the best game he had ever been involved in. We watched Coach Williams address his 2017 team one last time. This senior class of PRP, Shannon Bishop, B J Robinson, Dayon Pulliam, Nostradamus Vernon, etc had gone undefeated as freshmen and broken the winning streak of Bowling Green earlier their senior year. Actually, Amanda Williams had organized their last homecoming ceremony which was the best event we witnessed this year. I don't know what Coach Williams said to his team but he pointed to his heart often. We all know that his loss was much more than just a meaningless high school game in the scheme of things. We thought about the task in front of him, a 6 year daughter and 2 premature born twins still in the hospital and a funeral next Monday. We pray that God gives him peace in this time of turmoil.

Can anyone tell me why Bryant Robinson has not been playing QB for PRP? Nick Elder has played the last couple of games.

Let me propose another question- Trinity without Rondale? Not hoping he misses the bus to the game, gets called to help out Texas that weekend, gets tickets to Disney on Ice, or any other reason is not available, does the rest of 6A at least have a chance? When he went out during the regular season game, the Trinity offense stalled. I am not wishing him to miss the game just putting a hypothetical situation to ponder.

Not that I want this to be true but 15 wins last year plus 7 this year equals 22 in a row. 38 in a row wins against teams not named Male, back to Moeller in 2014.

Club level is very important on rainy nights like last year. This years forecast is 70 degrees at kickoff with no chance of rain. Beautiful night for a football game. Trinity is home team so they will be on the U of L side. St X will be visitors on the UPS flight deck side. Trinity radio broadcast will be 970 AM with Wayne Krause, Jason and John King/ St Xavier will be 790 AM with longtime hosts of John Spears and Tony Birk or streaming at saintx.com. We got married on Ohio St Michigan game day in 1984. It was not a well attended wedding but great reception. Earlier in 1980, Miami of Ohio moved our game on Ohio State -Michigan to 11:00 am to avoid the conflict at 3:30 pm. Still very small crowd.

I am just checking some stats for the game. Since St X's last championship in 2009, Trinity is 29-2 in playoff games, losing twice to Male. St X's season has ended either to Male or Trinity every year. My comment- at St Xavier we hear that we need to get past Trinity but our game is just one of the 5 rounds in the playoffs. No one else since Dixie Heights in 2004 has beaten the Shamrocks ( except St X twice and Male twice) so everybody else needs to get past the Shamrocks too. There are 30 other teams in 6A. We're just honored to be on the same field as those Shamrocks.....

Seems as though I remember in last years semifinal game, it was hard to hit him when he's 5 yards BEHIND our defensive back! Moeller held him to 22 catches- that's with the former Bengals defensive coordinator.

We stream our games live on St Xavier at saintx.com using Live Sportsbroadcaster run by Tim Brian and a private company that takes our radio Feed from Bisig Communications and the studio and inserts the graphics, scores, pictures for our fans. We have the normal FCC delay of a few seconds but everything is live. We can't talk during the commercials because that feed is being streamed. We do get a lot of people watching on the smart phones to see the replay or just listening to the station feed or the Iheart radio. Think of the alumni not within the listening confines of the radio station- those are the people listening and watching from afar. You also have elderly that can't physically make it to the game. There is excitement being at the game-( if you get a chance to go to a Central High game, go! ) but you can mark up the "rights" fees to cover the perceived tickets lost. There are 3rd party companies doing the subscription rate but we don't.

St Xavier JV is undefeated beating Trinity twice, Moeller, Central and PRP with the 35 points tonight being the 2nd lowest scoring.

2 comments about things reported above- "Cathedral is ok " ? Cathedral lost to Cincy St X 31-7 the week before Moeller lost to them( St X ) the next week 30-7. Is Moeller just "ok"? Also, this fascination with Andre Coleman is puzzling- he has 2 carries and no catches in 5 varsity games putting him 11th in rushing on St X's stats yet he gets mentioned in a lot of Trinity posts. He has great looking bright green shoes, maybe that is causing the attention grabbing. SMH...

I need 7 ( Herron? ), 93, 92. On the offensive side, I have Moore-1 SE with Stratman-14, Bohn QB-4 and Smith 23 and McGuire -5 at RB. I think Tyler Mackey is the center at 64. Trinity has failed to update Khsaa.org with numbers on their roster link and have a limited roster at MaxPreps. I need the o-lineman of 79, 68. 54, and 78 and wideouts, h backs of 33, 39, 6, and 14. Also I have seen 38 and 4 ( Bohn) punt and 90 and 30 kick XP so the roster with names and numbers would be nice to have available. Not sure of the strategy behind the alphabetical listing on KHSAA but it has been like that for back to back years. The numbers are not on the stats report either so it must be a decision not to post them. I will send the St X stats and the 2 deep chart if you want them.
