  1. I should have clarified more. I WAS referring to his running and play-making ability with his feet, not his arm. . Sorry.....
  2. 1. BG 2. Owensboro 3. Marshall Co. 4. Warren East 5. Christian Co 6. Hopkinsville 7. Warren Central 8. Graves Co. 9. Lone Oak 10. Calloway Co
  3. 1. O cath 2. Mayfield 3. Trigg Co 4. Ft Campbell 5. Pad Tilghman 6. Metcalfe Co 7. Caldwell Co 8. Russellville 9. Fulton City 10. Glasgow
  4. Mayfield should come out with a ROYAL chip on their shoulder......It sounds like FC has the athletes to match, but the question is who will be blocking for the FC running game. I think mayfield has bigger bodies in the trenches, which always helps them in this contest. And I know FC has a great quarterback and halfback, but once again they put up these huge numbers against less than average competition, so Im not completely sold on FC being able to hang with Mayfield. But after last week, anything seems possible at this point. Everyone told me, even the biggest UK fans, that LSU was gonna put a whoopin on them and things could get ugly. Everyone, or almost everyone, picked Mayfield to beat Calloway, and we know what happened there......so we will see....all I can say is, Mayfield better come ready to play!!
  5. This is a coin flip, IMO....both teams have been extremely successful the past couple of years....BUT, since OC has the habit of coming out on top in big games like this then i have to pick them....but like a said, it really is a coin flip..... OC 24 FC 21
  6. I was going to go to this game, but I went up to Lexington early for the UK/LSU game on Friday night, and I guess Im glad I didn't go. Calloway played a heck of a game from what I hear....Mayfield not so good, but as we all know you have to come ready to play. Calloway did and Mayfield didn't, its that simple. AND, there is always something good each team can take home from a game like this Calloway- lost some tough games this year and gets a HUGE win, one of the biggest in school history considering they have never beat a program like Mayfield the way they did. Their confidence is going to be riding sky high the rest of the schedule. Hopkins Co Cent and Graves are their big games left, assuming they beat Fulton Co. Mayfield-realized you have to come into EVERY game ready to go. Good/Great teams are not gonna lay down just because you are Mayfield. Wins are earned, not handed out. Not to mention, this is a game that we can lose and it doesn't hurt us playoff wise. If you are going to lay an egg like last Friday night, then that was a good night to do it. I know undefeated seasons are great, but being undefeated doesn't mean jack in the grand scheme of things. TRUST ME, it is better to take a loss during the regular season and go to state than to be 13-0 and lose in the state-semis. It is a good thing to be humbled. This loss to Calloway will def help Mayfield in the long run. DONT TAKE SUCCESS FOR GRANTED, PLAY EVERY PLAY AND EVERY GAME LIKE IT IS YOUR LAST, AND BE HUMBLE. Good luck next week against Fulton City. We can do this guys.
  7. I live in Murray and the local CCHS channel plays highlights from their games.....he is pretty quick and accurate......and the fact that he threw 4 of the 10 picks in the first game really doesn't make that 10 look so bad......nonetheless, I can't make the game so I will be anxious to check the score later on tonight.......The excitement grows as each week goes by and things start to unfold. I can't wait to see who does what in the playoffs, especially in 2A, 4A, and 6A because those are the tightest races!!
  8. I was hoping Coach Myers would somehow pull this game out. I really enjoyed playing under him at Mayfield when he was an assistant. I wish Russellville much success the rest of the season.........
  9. I agree. I think their quarterback won't have time like he has had in other games to stand back there and chuck the ball. The Paducah Sun stats have Brockman with 10 picks in 6 games (that seems like a lot, so for some reason I think that might be wrong, but thats what the paper had). It sounds like he could get careless, especially when we are putting the heat on him. Mayfield will ride their bread-n-butter tonight with great defense, a solid-balanced rushing attack, and IMO the best kicking game in this region. Good luck Cards and I hope everyone from both teams comes out of this one healthy.
  10. ^ hopefully its a bigger margin of victory than this......but Calloway seems to be no slouch this year. However, CC hasn't seen a defense even close to as good as Mayfield's....so I could possibly see Mayfield shutting them down. Also, Mayfield has answered the bell on every occasion this season as already noted, but no team is perfect and Mayfield could quite possibly have a bad game at some point this season, which is something we don't want to happen in the PLAYOFFS. P.S. We used to scrimmage Calloway every season. The whole scrimmage they lined up in 4 wide and passed the ball, only we could NEVER hit their quarterback. Then, when he didn't find anyone open, he would run the ball and we would get yelled at by their coaching staff for hitting him (a very pointless scrimmage when a defense is restricted like that). This was towards the very end of Stonecipher's (sp?) tenure at Calloway. He never would play Mayfield, and their was always an unspoken beef. the two teams just didn' like each other. And I know they have a new coach, and Coach McKeel seems like a standup guy, but I just want Mayfield to get this one really bad. Just to make a point of which program, year in and year out, runs this region regardless of classification.
  11. wow!! I didn't really expect PT to win like this.......great for them. There confidence should keep growing if they continue to win like this.
  12. What has happened to Hankcock.....they beat Mayfield in the 1999 regional championship game on the way to state, and have had some pretty good teams since then. I believe they played Mayfield in the Regional Championship game in 2005, but that is the last season I have heard about them having a successful season....whats up??
  13. I keep wondering when Hoptown is gonna turn it around this season. They have had one BIG win to my knowledge and that was when they beat Chrisitan Co.....I know Mercer has won some close games this year.........I say: Mercer 21 Hoptown 17
  14. What does this comment imply?? Not agreeing or disagreeing, I am just curious.........
  15. 1A- Mayfield vs. Pikeville (i don't know if these two teams have actually played) 2A- Trigg Co. vs. P-burg (Triggs had a good team the past couple of years and Id like to see them get over the humb...the owensboro cath hump) 3A- Paducah Tilghman vs. Belfry (I know their record stinks, but they still have talent) 4A- Warren east vs. Bell Co. 5A- BG vs. Highlands (I want to purples to taste redemption) 6A- anybody but t and x. I would love to see marshall co make a run but i don't see that happening one bit)
  16. They also got knocked out of the playoffs every year by Hoptown and BG.......Central, Russell, Belfry, and whoever else you want to mention would probably have been knocked out too, no?????
  17. I say PT takes this one 28-7.......they are picking up the pace and gave Mayfield a pretty good game.
  18. #1. Your talking about a Freshman game 3 years ago.....that doesn't really hold any water. #2. To say that only BG and Owensboro would beat Lone Oak is ludacris. You can say LO would beat Mayfield, Trigg, FC, PT, Graves, or Marshall....but until they get the guts to schedule teams like that then they will continue to be a mediocre program. Yes, they are having a good year. No, they would not beat Mayfield, Marshall, Graves, or Trigg. Maybe FC, PT. MAYBE. #3. "However, thats no going to happen this year" - it will not happen any year because LO will not schedule these teams. Period. #4. Not taking anything away from Calloway Co., but when that is Lone Oak's signature win so far this season, that doesn't say a lot. Wake up and smell the coffee dude.........I know we all like rooting for our teams, but lets try and keep things realistic.
  19. 1. Mayfield 2. Owensboro Cath. 3. Trigg Co. 4. Metcalfe Co. 5. Ft. Campbell 6. Russellville 7. Paducah Tilghman 8. Glasgow 9. Fulton City 10. Caldwell Co.
  20. 1. Bowling Green 2. Owensboro 3. Warren East 4. Marshall Co. 5. Madisonville 6. Graves Co. 7. Daviess Co. 8. Warren Central 9. Christian Co. 10. Lone Oak
  21. I think its important for Mayfield to experience these close games where one or two plays seperate them from their opponent. They never seemed to panic, even when up 7-6 at half. I also like the fact that we throw the ball quite a bit (by Mayfield's standards), because we need to be multi-dimensional come playoff time.......overall, quality win for the Cards.... Side note: Brent Simpkins is a madman at middle linebacker. He is in on almost every play!!
  22. I agree. This makes absolutely no sense at all......but everyone is entitled to their opinion.......
  23. I think this is where there is a disagreement. The opposing view is that wins and losses don't matter, and IMO, record isn't everything. Ask yourself this....would Fulton City, Caldwell, Glasgow, etc. have a better record than Tilghman against Tilghmans' schedule?? I HIGHLY doubt it......not to mention, you are downgrading Tilghman for losing to Mayfield and FC. Class is irrelevent in this case b/c Mayfield and FC are really good teams. For the record, im not a Tilghman fan, but for the life of me I can't understand why you wouldn't take STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE into account, because its apparent that you aren't. For anyone who knows a lick about football, this should be a factor in ranking teams.......
  24. Mayfield looks really good for a 1A team.....only giving up 30 yards through the air.....they play Calloway soon so that should test our pass defense....our rush defense is fine......
