I don't think that it's coaching that will or not turn things around at Westwood. Frankly, I'm surprised that the school system hasn't folded and had to go in the Boyd Co. school system. I have heard that the State dept. of education has taken over, sent a person from Frankfort in to set up, run the school system. Much like what Greenup County had to do several years back. As for the football team / program , their number of players are extremely low. Fairview had some pretty talented kids that are / were very young in the Jr. High and JFL programs. Fairview's coaches are the Cooksey's, that name is a long standing one at Fairview schools. The father, Rex Cooksey was the head coach for years there and now his son has taken that title with Rex as the assistant / defensive coach there. I may be mistaken but I think that there's a Cooksey as the head coach in every sport at Fairview now.o hate it for the community and people, kids in Westwood. Through the years, I have certainly had my problems with Fairview and my disdain for them was well known on here./ bgp. Those feelings mostly were with their coach / turned principle / turned superintendent and the AD / elementary principal that he hired at that time at Fairview. …. is jmo that the greed of a few cost the entire program, school system at Fairview. Those were well reported and documented in our local newspaper and regional T.V. station here I do hate it for the people and the kids of Westwood and would love to see them keep the Fairview school system, teams and get the entire school system built back.

Good riddin's … now our bgp friends in Mayfield will have to deal with that elusive bunch. I heard that the kid "Casper, #00" (he's one that murdered us) has a brother that's a Soph. that is going to be even better.

Thank you Ram. Now we finally have proof of my statement above. Can Raceland send this to the KHSAA to possibly get something done about this deceptive practice ? I am not sure if they have any regulations on this (teams film exchange).

FINALLY ! Thank God that we finally got "Open" off of the schedule. I have been calling for a step up in competition to play "Bye". Having said that, we will probably have trouble getting reliable film on these guys. I have heard that Bye sometimes pulls the same dirty trick that Open uses. Their opponet will get the tape / film case, it's opened and put it in the player ….. Nothing, blank film !

Wow, what a game. I got to watch this one on the LCS station lmk. Somerset fans …. if you know those guys, tell them thank you. Officiating was sketchy at best. I'm not talking about blatant bias, was just bad going both ways. The Rams defense imo won this game for us tonight and the Jumper defense is very good as well. Our offense hasn't been throttled like that in a long time. I am thrilled to get out with a win. Somerset .. your team plays hard on every snap and that's imo a reflection on your coach and program. As I said before, you are some good people . Good luck the rest of the way and in the playoffs.

Hopefully someone can post updates. I'll try if not, having trouble typing / losing control of fingers at times. One of the many worries that I have with Somerset is the "big play" … Jumpers have a qb that can throw a ball like a missle and extremely accurate. We have had trouble with that. Somerset is equal to, maybe better than Ashland.

This thread imo is an example of a good one, the way it's supposed to be here on bgp. I enjoy the back / forth , good natured jabs between fans that respect the other. All of you bgp / Somerset fans along w / their team are class acts :thumb:. Should the people that have been on here for a while, the Raceland / LCA games when it was a 1A district / region game. Some of the post / banter with Bluto were classic. :lol2:

Attention RAMS …. Did you notice that this was the game that Somerset chose for their "Homecoming Game" ? There was a time that would have really "ticked off :irked::irked: " a Raceland Rams football team. How do you guys feel abut it ?? Play disciplined, Out Work them, Be More Physical and … DO YOUR JOB !

A buddy of mine and I were talking earlier and mentioned that if this had been years ago, (before I was disabled, confined to a wheelchair), that we would had made a weekend fishing trip out of it. Being in late September, the bass fishing on Cumberland should be pretty good and we could stay and fish a couple of days. As for the game I honestly believe that it will be awfully tough for Raceland to make this bus ride, then have to get off and beat one of the better teams in that area of the state. Somerset proved that it can be done so as they say "so you're saying there's a chance". Should the Jumpers win, it could be anywhere from a TD to a running clock blowout. Should our Rams somehow take this one then it will be in a very close one. I'll stay optimistic for our guys and say …. Raceland 26 / Somerset 24.

Easy now, you are starting to sound like some of our Ram Nation faithful and our "spreading fertilizer" at times. Even I have been accused of that sometimes, if you can believe that. eek:

No , this is not a must win. I do believe that should the Rams get this one that it would further boost the players confidence in that they had went on the road and got a W over a great football program at their place. As others have said, our "must wins" are the district rivals Paintsville, Fairview. After those the must wins are the playoff games, Regional and state semi and championship should we be blessed enough to get there. Besides, if you're around a lot of Raceland fans … we would say that every game is a must win, and then sometimes that's not enough. :lol2:

I really hope that one day this game will be a good one as it was years ago but I seriously doubt it ever will. I remember some of those H. Conley / T. Scott battles from back in the day, everyone looked forward to this game. Not worth posting / predicting a score that would embarrass kids that work their butt off bc they love the game / their school.

I hate seeing that you suffer from M.S. M.S. is a terrible, crippling disease. I'll add you to my prayer list. I know about the M.S. / temp. problem but the hot weather really gets me, not the cold as much. I am completely disabled with primary progressive M.S., the most severe level and certainly wish you well in your M.S. battle. Anyway, my apologies to the rest of the bgp'rs on this thread, I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread so back to the game.... I certainly wish that I could make it but as all of them, the Ram coaches and players know that I'm always with them regardless if I can physically be there or not. I guess that I'm the Rams invisible 12th man. As the game last season, I expect it to be a hard hitting high school football game between two tradition rich programs. I hope that the Rams can be competitive and make a good game of it. I think that they can and as is in most games, this one will be decided in the trenches. Regardless of who wins, I hope that both teams stay injury free. :thumb:

Raceland is coming off a big win vs. a very good OH. team. I don't like the fact that Raceland has to make that long bus ride and then get out and play a very strong Jumpers team but Somerset had to do that last season and won so it can be done. Raceland hopefully can return that favor. I look for Salmons to go with the strong ground and pound running of Lacks and Adkins plus utilize E. Cox as well as D. Atkins to try and get some big plays thru the air. Cox's first game was last week and imo he can add even more explosive offensive threats for the Rams. Having said that, I'm not sure if that will be enough vs. Somerset. I have all the respect in the world for the Jumpers program / tradition. I'll have to think about this one some more before predicting it.
