The reason the girls tourny is played in Bowling Green is so that one city, Lexington and Louisville(when the new bidding comes up again) don't get all the revenue from fans coming into one city, spread the so called wealth, and also whatever Rupp Arena or Freedom Hall charges to hold the tournament would be more than WKU charges the KHSAA. Their profit would be greater or loses would be less I would assume.

Unforutunately it's probably going to take a local Bracken grad who is willing to put the program first instead of his career advancement and is willing to be happy living in his home county and get the respect of the community, parents, and players in the lower grades that are going to help developword a stable and consistant program that will be a contender year in and year out. It's a shame that money(but who does'nt need it especially teachers) and for lack of a better word, selfish pride career wise, gets in the way of some schools having a stable coach and program.

I debated about them, gave them benefit of the doubt, depending on which school system it is, yeh, on second thought make em pay, they maake good money. Bet that would go over well here in Maysville! LOL:lol:

I agree fully, I know for a fact that passes and hospitality room passes were abused at Mason Co. and I am sure everyone here knows a story or two about a privileged few at other schools in the region getting perks that they didn't deserve. My biggest beef has been the last three years a players girlfriends entire family(parents, grandparents-both sets, ect.) got parking passes for the upper level @ the Fieldhouse, game passes, hospitality room for the entire 10th Region Tournament. Great deal when you date an adminastrators son! Passes only for players, coaches and managers, and cheeleaders, superintendant and principals and AD's only. Everyone else can pay, IMHO.

Being that it was held at Campbell Co. last year and they are in the 38th District, I am guessing that the 39th District will host the tournament this year probably at Msaon Co. Nothing official mind you, just an educated guess.

I agree with all of you, and I am man enough to admit that at one time myself and my wife along with some other parents are the people you are responding to. I make no apologies for myself for the simple fact that in our case the head coach along with some of her staff were basically inept at handling young girls emotions, building team unity and morall, and teaching fundamentals to the bench players. Like I said, I agree with all three of you fundamentally. but what do you do when in certain cases the parents are right and the powers that be won't listen or admit they are wrong in having hired or retained certain people to coach who aren't cutting the mustard.:confused:

True, but you also have some parents holding their kids back a year on purpose so when they get to high school they will be a year older and more developed to take advantage of other kids who weren't held back. Most of the time the kids were held back at an early grade level, but I have heard of parents keeping a child back in the 6th through 8th grade level. So in theory they got a fifth year of eligibility and if the player was good enough the coaches on all levels knew what was happening also.

I'm not saying that Euton and Jackson aren't legitimate transfers, but we are on a slippery slope here because everyone who wants a transfer feels it is for a legitimate reason in their(parents & player) own minds regardless of what the KHSAA says and when was the last time the KHSAA ruled against a top player in the state or program in the state transfering. They've investigated, held meetings, ect. and in the end the transfer holds up and the kids get to play and the school benefits from having the better player on their team. This situation would have best been served if the parents had kept their mouths closed to the press and public and just transfered and let ther KHSAA make their rulings and let all of us on the web sites express our opinoins. Like I said before, the problem is only going to get worse as time goes by and smaller or less successfull schools that lose really good players on regular basis year in and year out will demand that the KHSAA go to a mandatory sit-out a year rule.

This puts the KHSAA in a precarious place, either do away with the transfer rule all together or make it mandatory no matter what the reason, you sit out a year, no appeals, no questions asked everyone plays on an even plane. Because of what high school basketball has become of because of college recruiting pressures and AAU traveling teams and the blue chip and elite camps, young men and women are getting some good and some not so good advice from people who are not family and school officials. These kids from smaller schools or rural areas are being told to go to bigger schools that are historically state contenders year in and year out to get your name out there, get a chance to win a championship or a Mr. Basketball and also keep playing with some of your summer team friends. This is a problem that is going to increase if something isn't done one way or the other. Personally I favor sitting out a year, like the NCAA, but if the KHSAA rules would do away with the transfer rule all together so be it. You would have parents transfereing their kids because little Jimmy doesn't like the coach, or doesn't get to play as much or whatever reasons that have been listed on here a hundred times over.

From what I have seen over the last few years, Fooks @ Boone Co., Brooks @ Paris, and the lady who coaches @ Rockcastle Co. she really impressed me at a team camp @ Union College 3 years ago. Plus you can't take anything away from the guy who coached at Lex. Cath. and the whole Scott Co. staff.:thumb:

Please take this for what it is worth, I did when I asked a few questions of the same degree about the girls program upgrading their schedule a few years ago and was told in a round about way that some of the people who would be running the show didn't want some of the logistical problems associated with hosting a major holiday tourny. Such as gauranteed monies, helping pay hotel expenses, scheduling volunteer workers, security, ect. ect. In short too much trouble and didn't want to take up their free time. Local teams can practice and sleep at home and miss no school days if that pertains to their schedule. Just show up and play. Also even with new construction of hotel space in Maysville, rooms are at a premium because of power plant construction workers living their over the last few years.

Didn't mean any disrespect to Campbell Co. team, coaches, and fans but knowing what most of these teams have comming back this year just playing the favorites card. But this is August and by the time January rolls around anything could have happened to change the scenarios of all teams playing.

I agree with this and like Pressrow has stated many times the best team on championship night usually will win the game. This year will be just a little different playing in a bigger arena on a neutral floor and I am excited about getting to go to a new facility. Just curious what the NKU officials are going to get as their cut of the pie being that others on this thread have stated that schools take of the tournament monies were down about a grand each this year.
