Big Game Player

Cant forget about Perry, I watched them a little this summer and that pg is tough. I'll go with Breathitt 1 and Perry in a close 2nd.

Should be a good game. I havent seen them yet but from what I hear Jackson City is led by Davidson which will be hard for anyone in the region to guard just needs some consistant help. Owsley will have a tough game and is going in as the underdog againest this Tiger Squad, from what I think should be a good game. Jackson also showed they can put up some points from last nights game.

Owsley and Cordia game was a physical game that seemed to be an advantage for Cordia. Cordia shot the ball well and I don't remember Hurt missing too many shots. The big guy down low really was a hustler and caused problems for Owsley. Owsley had 2 starters out in center Josh Reed and PG Jeremy Pierson. Pierson out on a church trip and Reed out due to a bruised ankle but I believe is expected to play in the first game on thursday. Also another Manious player wasnt there for a reason unknown by me. Cordia had another guard that seemed to be able to set up an offense well and iniatiate the offense. Cordia won big the first half and only won by under 10 ( i believe) the 2nd.

Cordia beat Owsley both halfs. Wolfe beat Jenkins both halfs. Buckhorn played someone right after but I didnt watch it or hear anything yet. Anyone got any info on that game or any earlier the other day at the Harzard Panaroma?

I forgot Cordia....I believe this could be one of the upset teams being led by Hurt. This team shot the ball consistantly throughout the game againest Owsley. They also have some size with a big boy down low that has to be one of the top 5 big men in the region.

Heard some transfers from Bell or somewhere near that are now wearing Hazard uniforms. Seen one of them the other day at the preseason panaroma and someone mentioned they were a transfre and I don't believe he played last year for Hazard. Perry should be down this year just because they have a new coach and lost a lot the past couple years but a 6'9'' transfre should help that a little. I look for Hazard and Al Hollan to be at the top right behind June B. June B. has worked hard all summer in AAU Ball. Stepp even turned down some other big AAU names and offers to stay and play with his team. Breathitt should have potential but look for them to struggle with a full court press or setting up a cosistant offense since Noble left, but someone will step up just havent seen anyone. Justin Hollan could handle it but that takes him out of his natural position at the 2 spot. Should be exciting to see who can compete with these teams as the season progress.

Lunatic1: your right about the numbers are down, I misunderstood just a slight on that. I thought the involving 9-12 with 450-500 students were a good idea when the time is needed and I dont feel like it is now even since the number is just down 7 below the desired number. Adding some larger schools by changing the enrollment eventually will take away the purpose of the ALL A, IMO. By adjusting to the number of school(113) instead of the size of school means as smaller schools continue to consolidate larger schools are needed in a small school tournament. Something here doesn't make complete sense to me eventhough I understand to a point why adding schools and changing enrollment requirements would help. I guess I'm confused a little also if an of this helped u out though then at least one of us are in a little better shape.

Exactly, this is why imo it should say the same. Especially since the numbers are good (120 teams isn't far from orignal number of total teams) and the tournament is still going strong. By making this a 2A school tournament it takes the origanal purpose out of the tournament as whole. If it aint broke then don't fix it. Wait a while until numbers are down and there should be an actual reason for change. Then we'll have a better outlook on the situation and number of teams then we'll be more able to come to a final decision about change. I like the idea of 9-12 around 450-500 when the time comes but not yet.

Last I heard from an inside source he was staying at Breathitt no matter which was the ruling goes but thats not straight from the source just a close friend.

I asked a while back and all i can get out anyone that its around late December or Mid January.

Zack Hurt is very nice player, I dont know what he was to go with him but there is potential in Zack and the way he plays the game.

I agree. Coach Noble should have these boys in shape and working together by seasons end. Josh Reed is a player that will definately be a force in the region, Adam McIntosh is going to tough down low, and Jeremy P. , Nick running the point and Matt Wright should make an experienced team later on in the season. A few off the bench such as Murrell, Marshall, Taylor and Marcus should help keep some fresh legs late in games.

With Powell loosing everyone except the coach. Lee loosing Brandenburg and a few of the players thats been there a while. Owsley loosing the Congelton Brothers. Estill, I have no idea except I'm pretty sure they bring a lot back, even the twins. How these teams comparing to each other and other teams in the district?? Favorites and whos lookking good and the summer?

I'm hearing the same thing......maybe its for sure by now but if not then wont be long from what I hear.

Exactly Professor. Owsley always has been a very supportive community of basketball and always will be but the past couple years have been rough. Coachs have left due to numerous reason but none that are intersystem related. The people in this program support the program to its fullest because at a small school like Owsley everything is easier when the basketball team is winning. I've even heard the Sheriff say that it makes his job easier(kinda like crime rate goes down). From hearsay I have hear that some very promising prospects have already showed interest in the job. I won't name any names because it is just hearsay but some nice names are being put on the table. Listening from inside the gym I understand that the oppurtunity that arose was not planned for Coach Parrett ,it just happens to pop up and put him in a better situation for his coaching career and personal life for the near future. I wish Coach Parrett could of stayed because I feel he showed a promising future but I support him on his decision becasue I feel that he has made the right choice for himself, basketball and family.

After what all heppened last year I"m surprised that they hired him. But knowing him , I wish him the best of luck with his new oppurtunity.

Between Cordia or Jackson , Ill go with jackson. But I'll take the Owls over both just because of tradition and Jackson loosing their coach.

I see where your going with this one....... I would also throw in Coach Wright from Lee Co. in the 14th for what he has accomplished over the past couple year. Bringing Lee from a walk over team to a possible favorite in tournament play eventhough they did get upset last year in district:D .

If the girl requested for her own parents to be thrown out.........they must of been pretty bad. Sad......

Looks like a good team, I didn't get a chance to see all of them play but the ones I did seemed very deserving of the title. Congrats to all!!!

Congrats Coach Hicks for a great season and winnng the title.

Should make distric games and distric tournament just that much more exciting. Coach Al will be fine in Hazard and probally better off there than Perry now that he has the capability of a private school like Hazard. I would also say that Hazard has gained some fans in the past couple weeks with this coaching change.
